So. I struggled initially because Markus seemed so hard. And I felt bad for Reign. Like real bad, and at the 20% mark they hadn’t even met yet. So I knew I was in for a slow-ish burn, which I wasn’t in the mood for. But once they crossed paths, I was locked in. Reign gave him hell at first & was NOT falling for his charm, which made Markus want her more. He slowly broke down those walls & saw past her trauma, and in doing so, she became his peace as well. His refuge from the street life. Their love was quick, intense, healing, and all consuming. Outside of their relationship, there is SO MUCH nefariousness in this book. Like it really be ya own people. I loved the way that Markus & family spoke life into Reign & helped her to remember who tf she was! And once she came back into her own, she was unstoppable and exactly who Markus needed. This book is full of tension & emotion. And just felt overall heavy, but a good read.

4.5⭐️this was such a good read - I just wanted to hug Reign and Money so bad. Let me say, Money was A MAN! But can we talk about Nia being the guardian Angel that Reign needed?! My girl was solid! I loved how Reign developed and blossomed into the boss that she was meant to be. It’s amazing what a lot of affirming and true loving can do for you ❤️.

Dope boys go crazy!
Aubree Pynn does it again! Watching Money and Reign, who are both guarded and opposed to a relationship, organically come together to be all each other needed was beautiful to see. Money didn't play a single game when it came to Reign, and after all she had been through, seeing her come into her era of peace and protection was everything!

4.5⭐️ this was such a good book! Based on the title I expected something else but overall it was a damn good book! Money and Reign ahh just love them so much! Nia was exactly what Reign needed at first I thought it was a set up but she was her guardian angel! Enjoyed this was a lot! ❤️

4⭐️ oh i was sattt, this was fun, messy, and at times downright crazy given the family dynamics (IYKYK) but, i loveee Aubree Pynns PEN! Her books are always so fun and the romance is always top tier! The men be down bad for their women, and Markus was no different! I was such a Stan of him and Reign. Reign was such a powerhouse FMC and all that she endured was literally so heartbreaking at times. Ugh, i stan them. This was good! I ate this uppp

I was very apprehensive to start this, but Boy was I wrong! This was so so good!
This did not miss a beat. Trafficking, murder, kidnapping, violence, so much violence lol, yes there was romance, a lot of of it, but you got every other storyline as well!
Auntie’s demise broke my heart! I very rarely root for an MMC the way that I did for Money! He deserved it!

Reign blossomed perfectly in this book. Money was a man of his word truly! But the true angel in this story his sister Nia. I could devour a Nia short. Favorite character!! She road for her family in their time in need, she helped her brother from sinking and she helped Reign in a moment of her chaos. Such a good book. Pls check your triggers 🤞🏾.

Two tortured dark souls bump into one another and explode creating a light within themselves so bright.
My heart broke for Reign because of the life she lived. No one should ever be treated the way Javier treated her. I was rooting for the moment he got his.
Markus had so much dark energy and alot of responsibility on his shoulders to keep his family legacy intact. How do you continue to keep your family intact when your closest family members are coming for you?

It got better with time
Overall, I would rate this a 3.5. It took me a little while to decide if I was going to keep reading the book because it felt the beginning of the story was rushed. I also didn't particularly enjoy all the different points of view because I wanted more from the main characters.
I was happy that once Regin let Money love her, he did so gently. No one stepped to her as a woman, and the only real issue that they had was resolved quickly.

In the words of the new gen, "let her cook." Because this is a story that needs you to sit back, the author basically pulls a "sit back and let me cater to u"- style narrative for fans of Urban Romance. The deets:

💠 But by the end, you are giving him a standing O. He starts to get clarity.
💠The romance and character arc feels like a movie that gets a stamp of the title at the end because we just witnessed the birth of something. Again, "let her cook".

💠...watch her evolve into a queen, a true partner, someone who uses her intelligence in a "what do YOU bring to the table nigga" type energy and it's beautiful to see-- how she's never out.
💠...watch what healthy we plottin' together-better-be-on-the-same-page-even-if-you-are-mad-you-will-still-kiss-me-hello style communication.
Reign begins the book on her 26th birthday, betrayed and abused in the worst way by her man. It's easy to see how gaslighting and love bombing may have a smart woman end up in Reign's shoes. And this isn't a quick romance. She gives real "I don't like you"-isms to Markus every time he comes around. He doesn't see her and immediately falls; he sees her and just notices. The more he sees, the more he wants clarity, so he starts moving differently to make sure he has her.
"My purpose is you. And all that you are. It goes beyond the love that’s budding in my being for you. You understand?”

💠Trust the process, and certain character actions and behaviors really do add up and line up. Here, we are subjected to the cruelty of Javi/Reign and the coldness of Markus/Nevaeh, leading up to the softness, purity, and strength of Reign and Millo.

🔫Mainly dual pov. The only time other characters' pov is shown, it directly folds into the main character's storyline and feeds the main conflict arc. It isn't a lot of their chapters are dropped during key moments to move the story forward, but it never feels unnecessary
🔫tight and concise narrative, focus on the couple and their rise, their growth, and weaknesses, switch to strengths
🔫bang bang shoot 'em up shoot 'em up story
Overall:
The reason this is a 4 instead of a 5-star read is that the author has a way of setting up a character's actions in a situation and then immediately telling you what they demonstrated. A character would be dumb AF based on ego or pride, and we'll get "he's very envious and prideful. His ego will lead to his downfall." This is a writing choice that doesn't connect for me, but it doesn’t detract from the unputdownable nature of the story, with easy flow and strong characters; it’s a must-read for Urban Romance fans.

This book was such An amazing book to read and definitely recommend.i definitely couldn’t put it down . The writing is so good and the love is so beautiful. This is my first time reading this book by this author and I definitely can’t wait to read more of her books . Than you for being an author

Reign & Money! Two tortured souls who found love! When I say, I didn’t know what to expect from Reign and how she was going to get out of that DV & human trafficking situation. When she got the opportunity, baby girl, took off and shout out to her only friend who helped her and put the wheels in motion for her. On her escape, she runs smack into Nia who happens to be her guardian angel. Nia gets her someplace safe & and Destiny does the rest!
Markus aka Money is the next youngin up but he has snakes around him. He becomes infatuated with the little bombshell name Reign and he doesn’t stop until he gets her.
When I say choosing the right partner can make a break you they were talking about these examples right here! Whatever money gave her she flipped it and multiplied it. That beautiful strategic brain of hers was able to blossom, and I love to see her glow up! Who needs friends when you have enemies like this? Money has so many opps around him. Cousins, exes,
I do want to know how did she end up in her trafficking situation because it wasn’t clear besides her mom putting her out at 16. But she also had a cosmetology license and ran several businesses so I don’t think she immediately was with Javier.
Nia and that mouth was my favorite! She was quick with the comeback. Poor Seven! He is in for the time of his life.. Nia reminds me of Angela from why did I get married? Her mouth is reckless and I swear I can have another book of just her insults!

The way AP writes urban fiction main characters need to be study. The way she is able to write a MMC that is in the streets, but when he finds his woman the way he is soft for one her.
This book started off with a bang and people being thrown off buildings. The MMC Markus is a dope boy on his way to the top which always comes with people in their circle being jealous, and back stabbing because they believe they deserve it more. Then you have the FMC Reign, check your triggers because she has been through a lot.
When Markus & Reign meets, she is not trying to talk to this man, she has just got out of a traumatic situation and is just trying to survive and keep her head down but Markus Emiliano would not stop applying pressure til Reign couldn't run from him no more.
This book had all the elements I LOVE in an urban romance. The street action, the love story, the suspense, the emotions all the feels. The way both of them poured into each other, the found family, I enjoyed it all. The banter between the MC's in the beginning was so good because why did she call him slow, and he called her mute on the stoop LMAO !!!

Dope Boys was a story around the streets, disloyalty, pain, and rebirth. Reign just wanted to be free from Javier and his cruel treatment and if that meant leaving The Port then so be it. He stripped her down to nothing and all hope was lost until a window of opportunity presented itself and my girl ran for it. Markus “Money” Emiliano was a dope boy through and through. His uncle left him the game but he had many snakes around him before he could level up like everyone knew he could. But when family is disloyal because their pride and ego gets in the way Money has to play chess not checkers when making moves. Always 10 steps ahead. Reign was what Money needed to clear the smoke in his view and show him dope boys needs a strong woman beside them. Money provided Reign with the soft and warm life she’s always dreamed of. This book drew me in from the very first page. This was my introduction to Aubrey Pynn and I’m hooked. She took her time writing this. No questions left unanswered. It was a beautiful love story showing no matter what life throws and how dark someone’s life can get real love can bring the sunlight back.

Marcus & Reign had me in my feelings BAD! Reign was running for her life after being abused and drugged, trying to survive the only way she knew how. Marcus was drowning too, numbing himself with anything he could get his hands on while carrying so much pain. But when these two found each other, they finally started seeing a way out instead of just surviving. Watching them fight for love, healing, and peace hit hard.
Now Marcus’ family, ex, and his sister’s best friend? Straight trash. The audacity to try to take from somebody when you can’t even treat yourself right had me heated the whole book! Every time I thought they couldn’t get worse, they did!
And Aunt Lucille… whew. That woman deserved so much better. Her leaving broke my heart completely. Then how somebody could kill their own mama after she did everything right by them?!?! Yeah, this story had drama, pain, healing, and rage all wrapped together. Definitely one of those books that keeps you emotionally invested from beginning to end!

Reign was dealt an incredibly difficult hand, and watching her find the courage to run and rebuild her life had me rooting for her from the beginning. Camden did everything she could to help, but it was Nia who truly stood out to me. I loved how she nurtured her friendship with Reign, welcomed her with open arms, and became the kind of support system everyone deserves. And Svyn? A real one from start to finish.
Markus was carrying the weight of a legacy that was never really his choice. Despite everything he had going on, I loved seeing how he poured into Reign, helped rebuild her confidence, and gave her the space to heal. Their relationship developed naturally, and I appreciated the care he showed her.
The story was full of twists and turns that kept me engaged, and overall it was an enjoyable read. While it didn't quite reach five-star status for me, it's definitely one I'd recommend if you enjoy stories with emotional healing, found family, and romance woven into a gripping plot.

SO good! The romance was definitely there, this one to me leaned more into urban fiction for me because the suspense and action kept the story moving. Reign escaped an abusive situation (Javier needed the electric chair) and watching her go from surviving to finding her confidence and standing in her power was one of my favorite parts of the story. Markus aka Money stayed getting on her nerves until he finally wore her down because that man was NOT letting up, and their banter had me laughing. He did not have to call that girl a mute! 😂 But that was his Speechless. I also loved seeing Money clean house when people he trusted betrayed him, and still showed how fiercely he loved and protected his family. Reign had his back just as much as he had hers, and I loved seeing that balance between them. Shoutout to Camden and Nia for helping Reign escape and start over, and speaking of Nia, I absolutely need more of her and Svyn! There were some characters and connections mentioned toward the end, I already know I’ll be going back through Aubree’s catalog because I need see their backstories.

This was such a ride, There were so many snakes in the garden so many hands trying to be in the pot. Markus needed the soul strong fire that was hiddened under the pain and suffering thelat Reign had been through. When they both opened up to what could be with each other, things began to mend. She healed what was broken in him and he brought her out of that darkness she had been wallowing in for a long time.
Nia was the unknown catalyst that bought them all together. Seeing all the obstacles they had to face to come out on top made them that much stronger. Reign was able to flourish and really come into her light
This was something that the aunts really saw and knew would be the catapult Markus needed...his queen to his king.
This was a wonderfully crafted love story with all the elements of love, loss, brokenness, mending, and perseverance wrapped into one story💜💜

Money Makin’ Markus and Reign
Reign was the definition of fierce. She did what needed to be done to survive and never folded under pressure. Watching her transform her survival instincts into love was beautiful she was strong, smart, and resilient. Money Makin’ Markus carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, making sure everyone around him was straight while still fighting his own demons. Betrayal, jealousy, and greed within a family will always spell disaster, but Markus handled his business like a boss. And one thing’s for sure, two things for certain he was not coming off Reign, period. I also loved Nia. She was fighting her own battles and made a few wrong trust calls, but when it came to her business, she wasn’t the one or the two. And Svyn? A real one through and through never afraid to check Money when he was wrong. Ms. Pynn did it again! This one’s a solid 10/10. Highly recommend.

reign and mia were the sisters they never knew each other needed. reign and markus were really each others peace from the moment they met. reign didn’t deserve what she went through with that man and she was so strong for standing on wanting to rebuild her life, refusing to let that man win, holding firm on her expectations and boundaries. markus loved his family so much and did whatever to protect them, so when his entitled cousins started moving foul and forced his hand into killing them after they killing their own mom it made me sad for markus cause he really didn’t want to put them down but he had to, sometimes family will be your downfall and they were trying to be his. was glad seven was there to catch mia and take care of her after she had to take on the weight of killing her “friend”

I so fell in love Reign and Money!!! This book had me tear up a few times but I’m a true AP fan so I knew what I was getting myself into. Reign had to break free from the pain and somehow ending up running into Nia and ultimately Money. The ultimate hard body and Don but a fierce protector and softy for Reign that was Money. He pulled out all the stops for her to assure her safety and protection after studying her and her mannerisms. Like he was the big boss and ran a tight ship but put anything and everything on hold for her and those he loved and were loyal to him. In order to run the city and game he had to get rid of some loose ends and switch some things up and Reign fell right in helping him and they realized they were better together. They could make major moves with her business mindset and his street smarts they would be unstoppable. They had to get rid of the people and things determined to hurt them.

Just wholesome overall without the feel for venegeance. Markus "Money" Emilliano Grant aka Drop Em From The Top is coming for what is his and seeing things for what it truly is after finding his "Mute on the Stoop." A clear mind is a dangerous thing because now eyes are open. Reign on the other hand is a woman trying to be as independent and find a peace that hasn’t been given to her in years. I’m not going to ruin this book for you but all I can say is “watch your enemy, never be too eager, keep her nose clean, and never shit where you eat” and “A snake too close to you stretches and grows to your size.
