The Right Kind of Wrong

Rate this book
What if walking away once wasn’t enough to keep your heart safe?

Natalie Bradford is starting over. Newly divorced, raising two children, and building a career she never thought she’d have the courage to chase, she’s finally learning what it means to live life on her own terms in sunny Southern California.

Then the first day of school collides with the past she can’t outrun. Will Parker—magnetic, complicated, unforgettable—is standing there with a stunning new blonde girlfriend…and the same pull that once undid her.

They both know the risks. The timing is impossible. Their lives are tangled with kids, exes, and expectations. And while the spark between them hasn’t dimmed, Will’s teenage daughter Madison is bolder than ever—her sharp edges and fiery spirit threatening to turn every fragile boundary into a battlefield.

When work throws them together, stolen glances turn into lingering moments, and the line between resisting and surrendering disappears. Natalie must decide if some loves are worth breaking the rules for twice—or if this is the kind of wrong that could cost her everything.

The Right Kind of Wrong is a swoony, emotional, and addictive sequel about second chances, messy families, and the love that refuses to let go.

The first book in this series left me hanging on a cliff, desperate to know what happens next and thank god I had the ARC in hand! I couldn't stop reading until I found out how Natalie's story unfolds.
Watching her rebuild her life, find her strength again, and navigate the chaos of single motherhood was both emotional and empowering.
What I truly loved about this sequel is how real everything felt. The author doesn't sugarcoat life after heartbreak she shows the messy emotions, the self-doubt, the guilt, and the slow rediscovery of one's own identity. It's not just about romance; it's about healing, forgiveness, and second chances not only in love but in life itself.
I also appreciated how the book explores complex family dynamics parenthood, co-parenting, and the struggles of balancing personal dreams with responsibilities. Every character has flaws, and yet that's what makes them so relatable.
The writing is heartfelt, descriptive, and emotionally charged. It made me tear up at some moments and smile at others. It's the kind of story that reminds you that life doesn't end after a broken marriage; sometimes, it's just the beginning of something better.
This book was such a perfect continuation...a sequel that didn't just live up to the first, but deepened everything I already loved about it.

I was so excited to read the ARC of this after reading Jillian’s first book, The Wrong Kind of Perfect. I liked this book, The Right Kind of Wrong, even better than the first!

The story is told from the point of view of Natalie and Will. I enjoy romance novels told from two points of view so that was a positive for me.

This book dives deeper into the characters’ feelings and motivations. I also enjoyed the supporting characters as well as the narratives around Natalie’s career and parenthood. Would recommend!

The emotions, the quiet longing, the laughter and the chaos i devoured it.
I enjoyed how this book explores complex family dynamics, parenthood and the struggles of balancing personal dreams with responsibilities.

This was the perfect follow up to Jillian’s first book - which left you on a little cliffhanger.

Just like in the first book, there’s so many relatable emotions and situations that are so well written in the story. The way Natalie picks herself up after everything and rebuilds - she finds her strength and herself again. Being a mom in general is chaos, throw in being a single mom and going through the heartbreak - it would be hard to keep going I can imagine. The author does a phenomenal job of touching on the newfound co-parenting, how family dynamics change and how you lose yourself sometimes trying to balance responsibilities and dreams.

The healing throughout the book is heartwarming and the fact that she allows herself a second chance to be happy - I’m proud of her of the growth and strength she shows. For a fictional character, you really cheer for her - there’s plenty of laughs and you may shed a few tears. It’s for sure worth the read! Thank you to the author and @happilybookedpr for the early read. All opinions are my own.

What do you do after you’ve given into temptation, lose your way and question who you are?
You start over

When a mom faces a hard road of staying for her kids or finding herself there’s really only one choice. After all marriage of longing and regrets is a dead marriage. When Natalie starts over not only does she rediscover herself and what she loves to do, but she also rediscovers what it feels like to be loved. To be wholly, undoubtedly loved in every sense of the word. It’s not that her and Jason never loved each other it’s that their love was never meant to last, they were meant to be each other’s lessons. The one where you learn how to fight, forgive, heal, and nurture. It’s not meant to last. Then you have Natalie and Will and their love theirs is one meant to last a lifetime. You have two people who have lived, laughed, hurt, and picked themselves up again. They see something in each other that nobody else see’s. They see their peace. They may try to avoid it and come up with a bunch of reasons as to why they shouldn’t and couldn’t happen. That’s the funny thing about fate you can’t control it, who’s meant to be in your life will be there no matter the form. And Will. Will is meant to be her home and peace. Jason is meant to be her lesson, but just remember not all lessons are bad ones. So can this mom find herself and come face to face with her own traumas in her head to finally get her happy ending. Or does she let the fears win. Find out in The Right Kind of Wrong.

I really enjoyed reading this series. I’ve never read an infidelity trope and was unsure I was going to feel about it but I am go glad that I gave it a try. A special thanks to Jillian for letting me be a part of her ARC team for this book it was truly a cute little book and a nice palate cleanser. I will say I definitely did not like Jason in the first book maybe that has to do with my own upbringing. But I am so glad that we saw some character development on him in the second book and that he becomes a more present dad, I especially loved how he comes to Natalie before doing anything or introducing the kids to people first so that she knows and she has a say.

*Thank you to Love Story PR, and the author, Jillian Marie for providing with E ARC, in exchange for an honest review*

The Right Kind Of Wrong is the perfect sequel to Will and Natalie's story. I've been curious about what happened next from the moment I finished The Wrong Kind Of Perfect. I was happy to learn that there would be another book. I was swept away by Will and Natalie’s story from the first page and was on the edge of my seat until the last page. It was a much more emotional read than the first book, but I loved the way Jillian showed each of the characters’ emotions; it felt as if I was experiencing those emotions while reading. It was so raw, heartbreaking, yet beautiful.

I'm still trying to process my feelings after reading this story. I loved how all the characters came together. I was rooting for Natalie and Will from the start; actually, I've been rooting for them since the first book. The Right Kind of Wrong is much more than a love story; it's a story about family, second chances, and healing. I loved everything about this story: the characters, the plot, the pacing. I cried, I smiled, I laughed, and I got angry with the characters; it was as if I were part of the story. I finished this book in one day because I couldn’t get enough of the story.

I think that this book would make a perfect Hallmark movie. I loved the first book, but I loved the second book even more. I adored Meredith; she reminded me so much of my best friend, Mariah, who is like a sister to me. Like Meredith, she has been there for me every step of the way. I loved the bond that the two of them have. I’m so glad that I came across Jillian; she’s the author to watch out for. I look forward to seeing what she has in store for us next!

The Right Kind of Wrong
By Jillian Marie

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What To Expect:
💔 Single dad
☀️ Single mom
💔 Divorce and fresh starts
☀️ Slow burn
💔 Forbidden romance (school gates / kids involved)
☀️ Blended family drama
💔 Second chances

Jillian Marie's The Right Kind of Wrong is an emotionally charged, beautifully written second-chance romance that completely consumed me. If you're a fan of single-parent dynamics, blended family chaos, and a slow-burn connection that feels incredibly real, this book is a must-read.
This story is the continuation of Natalie and Will's journey, picking up after the events of the first book (The Wrong Kind of Perfect). Both are divorced, raising children, and grappling with the fallout of their previous, complicated connection. The central tension is their undeniable attraction versus the difficult reality of their lives: shared custody arrangements, navigating ex-spouses, and the delicate emotional landscape of their children.
I loved how the author didn't shy away from the messy aspects of real life. The conflicts feel authentic, not just manufactured drama. A major challenge in the book is managing Will's teenage daughter, Madison, whose sharp edges and fiery spirit create significant friction, adding depth and external conflict beyond the romance itself. The struggle between resisting their feelings and the pull of surrendering to a love that seems "wrong" on paper is palpable throughout the entire novel.
Overall, The Right Kind of Wrong is an addictive, heartfelt read that proves love doesn't have to be perfect to be true. It left me with a full, happy heart and a smile on my face. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys an emotional, real-life romance with depth.

10/10 would recommend this book to family and my family

It's hard to write a review here because it's a continuation of the first book and I don't want to spoil anything! You could read the first book and be happy with the ending thought! But we do see Natalie and Will back at the school picking up their kids. This time, Will is accompanied by a try hard who wants to be his kids' stepmom. I was so scared we weren't going to get a Natalie & Will book, but there he was! Thus starts the rollercoaster of either truly leaving the past behind or making a future of all the broken pieces.

I loved every minute of this! The first book was hard for me because the cheating trope is not for me. I took some deep breaths and read through and loved their story. This book was even better. I couldn't put this book down and lost sleep reading as much as I could before having to give in. Natalie seems so put together but she's not. And in the mess in her head, she is so clear about not hurting anyone else the way she and her sister were hurt. It's so understandable but also so frustrating! I love the way Jillian Marie weaved this trauma into their relationship and then also weaving the drama of exes and children who don't always understand what's happening and feel left out or left behind.

I don't know if it's the cute covers that always have me looking at these books like they are light hearted and fun, but there is some real emotion going through these pages. BUT they are also funny, and there is banter (Meredith, Natalie's sister is awesome and I think I see her story coming to us!), friendship, family, and spice. These two have all the chemistry.

I received a complimentary eARC and my review is voluntary. Thank you to the author!

The Right Kind of Wrong follows Natalie and Will, two people who once fell for each other at the wrong time and meet again when life gives them another chance. Both are divorced, raising kids, and learning to trust their hearts again. It’s a story about love that never really faded, just waited for the right moment to bloom.
I adored how beautifully Jillian Marie captured the emotions — the quiet longing, the laughter, and the chaos that comes with blended families. The connection between Natalie and Will felt so genuine and tender, full of warmth and depth. Every chapter had this comforting, real-life charm that made me root for them even harder.
The side characters like Meredith, Evan, and Natalie’s friends added such a fun, supportive energy to the story, making it feel like a perfect mix of heart and home. I loved the coastal backdrop, the cozy mornings, and the healing that slowly unfolded between them.
It’s a heart-steadying, soul-soothing kind of romance that reminds you love doesn’t need to be perfect just true. I closed the book smiling with that full, happy heart feeling.
Thank you so much love story pr for the free ARC! 💕

Love that refuses to let go will always find its way back, even when life gets messy, loud, chaotic and full of kids who are not afraid to speak their mind. The Right Kind of Wrong follows Natalie Bradford, a newly divorced mom trying to rebuild a life that finally feels like her own. She is balancing clients, co parenting, self doubt and the heavy truth that she still loves the man she once walked away from.

And then she sees him. Will Parker. Standing at the school drop off with the same pull, the same spark and a new girlfriend who is everything she is not. Their past comes crashing into their present and suddenly all the emotions they tried to bury start breathing again.

Their story unravels through co parenting struggles, teenage storms, quiet longing, stolen moments and the question of whether love can survive two broken marriages and six kids in the mix. I adored how Will and Natalie slowly grow back toward each other while navigating every messy, complicated emotion. The kids were chaotic, hilarious and real. The adults were flawed, raw and honest.

Natalie confused me at times, but she also reminded me that fear and vulnerability are real. Her growth and Will’s steady heart gave this story such a warm, hopeful glow. I laughed, I got mad, and I definitely swooned. This book is a beautifully crafted second chance romance about choosing love even when everything around you says you should not.

Jillian Marie has done it again! 💕 This sequel completely swept me away — full of charm, heart, and that perfect blend of tension and tenderness that makes you feel every word.

I read this book in just two days because I physically couldn’t put it down. The chemistry? Flawless. The emotion? So real. The banter? Chef’s kiss. Jillian has a way of writing romance that feels both deeply personal and completely addictive.

I received this book as an ARC, and it was my first time reading anything by Jillian Marie — I have to say, I really enjoyed it!

Although this book is part of a series, I hadn’t read the previous one, and I still found it easy to follow and fully engaging. Jillian did such a great job weaving in enough context that I never felt lost. That said, if you get the chance to read the first book, I’d recommend it — I’m sure it adds even more depth and background to the story.

I absolutely loved this book! It’s a beautiful blend of romance, healing, family, and just the right amount of spice. It perfectly captures how falling in love as single parents can be both messy and magical — real, raw, and still so worth it. The themes were heartfelt and relatable, touching on challenges many people face every day.

And my favorite character? Meredith, hands down! I can’t wait to see what Jillian Marie writes next.

“It wasn’t picture-perfect. But it was ours, beautiful, messy, and imperfect in all the best ways.”

What an emotional continuation of Natalie and Will’s story. This was messy, raw, and heartbreakingly beautiful. Jillian has a way of drawing you in and making you emotionally attached to all her characters. I was already deeply invested in Natalie and Will’s story from The Wrong Kind of Perfect, but this book heightened those feelings even more. I was so emotionally invested that I couldn’t put it down. Also, everyone needs a sister like Meredith, and I’m so thankful we got a sneak peek at the end of this book! The ending was absolute happily-ever-after perfection.

“You have a way of making me feel like I’m more than I ever thought I could be,” I whispered. His blue eyes locked on mine. “It’s because you are. And I’ll spend every chance I get making sure you know it.”

The Right Kind of Wrong is an even stronger follow-up to Book 1--sharp emotion, great banter, and characters who feel wonderfully real. The leads have incredible chemistry and compelling growth, and the found-family moments add so much warmth.

The first book left me desperate for more, and this sequel delivers. Watching the heroine rebuild her life, regain her confidence, and navigate single motherhood feels raw, honest, and deeply relatable. The author doesn’t sugarcoat heartbreak or healing; she leans into the messiness of rediscovering yourself.

It’s not just a romance; it’s a story of forgiveness, second chances, and finding strength in everyday chaos. The family dynamics and co-parenting struggles add real depth, and every character feels beautifully flawed.

A heartfelt, empowering continuation that deepens everything I loved in Book 1. A few pacing bumps keep it from a full five stars, but overall, it’s a warm, romantic, and utterly satisfying read. 💖

The Right Kind of Wrong is the right kind of sequel.

Natalie’s story continues her exploration of embracing her identity whilst struggling with the ghosts of past and new.

Once again, Jillian portrays reality in its rawest yet most beautiful form. There was a beautiful full circle moment in this book that embodied both The Wrong Kind of Perfect and The Right Kind of Wrong. It was a poignant reminder to not allow the ghosts of our past have such a hold on our here, now and future and instead use those ghosts as lessons.

If you fell for Natalie’s story in The Wrong Kind of Perfect, you’ll fall even harder with this book! The Right Kind of Wrong is a heartwarming Hallmark vibe sequel that will have you swooning, sighing and smiling - sometimes all three at once!

Thank Jillian for giving me the opportunity to ARC.

📖The Right Kind of Wrong-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had a love/loathe relationship with the ending of The Wrong Kind of Perfect, so I was super excited to get more of Natalie’s story and boy was it a messy one!

Parts of this felt like a Desperate Housewives episode, but honestly I was here for it and devoured it in 24 hours. There were also parts I wanted to shake some sense into Natalie and Will. Then there was the growth and that was beautiful. I loved how Jillian captured all the messy, hard, uncomfortable parts of divorced/blended families, but also equally portrayed the growth, support, and blending.

I’m really excited to see where Jillian takes us next with Meredith and Evan!

I was first introduced to author Jillian Marie earlier this year when I was asked to read and review her first book, The Wrong Kind of Perfect. I instantly fell in love with her characters and writing style. So you can imagine my excitement when I was asked to read and review her second book. Without giving much away, book 1 ended with a bit of a cliffhanger… so I was thrilled to be reunited with these characters. I loved the ending and the way the author wrapped up loose ends.
What a perfect book!

Synopsis: Natalie’s divorce is final and she is ready to move on. That is until she runs into Will again, and their past comes flooding back. These two have a magnetic chemistry but struggle with timing. With 6 kids between them, exes, jobs, and more- the odds are stacked against them. Can love win out?

The Right Kind of Wrong by Jillian Marie is a compelling modern romance and the challenges around relationships involving parenting and blended families.
The story follows on from the first book following Natalie’s and Will’s story and how they will tackle their inexplainable pull towards together.
I enjoyed the storyline and challenges faced by the main characters and how to navigate their feelings and how they fit into each other’s lives together. I enjoyed the inclusion of Natalie and Wills children and the parenting decisions and considerations that were made.
If you have any sensitivity to cheating storyline’s this book may not be for you.
This book was very easy to follow and read and I flew through it in a few sittings.

I adored this book! I loved seeing Natalie and Will find their way back to each other. I was so disappointed with how the first book ended because I wanted them to be endgame so badly, but I understood that Natalie needed to grow on her own before she could truly be with someone. It was so refreshing to see her trust herself and actually let Will be there for her through both the good and the bad. They both deserved so much happiness, and I’m so glad they finally got it. I’m sad that their story is over since I loved these characters so much!

I’m also really looking forward to reading Meredith and Evan’s story since they’ve been my favorite side characters from the start!

Thank you to the author for the ARC copy of The Right Kind of Wrong. We’re back with Natalie and Will! I loved everything about their journey back to each other. It seems like they just couldn’t catch a break! If it wasn’t one thing, it was another, after everything they definitely deserve to be with each other. They are both constantly fighting to make their relationship work by showing up for one another when they need someone the most. Their story explores a lot of the hurdles that come with blended families and navigating new relationships after a divorce. Overall it was a great read! Jillian...this sequel is exactly what I needed. I loved this story. I honestly was hoping Nat would go for Lucas and his British charm because she and Will cheating on their partners over and over just rubs me the wrong way. I get it is a redemption arc and that the mmc and fmc are soulmates but cheating?? I loved the relationship between the kids, BeBe and Ivy are adorbs and I hope they stay friends as the series goes on. I liked that Nat finally left Jason because not all parents are meant to be lovers too. Sometimes they are better as coparents. I love Nat's sister, she took to show for me, I hope the next book is her story and that it is a much cleaner romance without having to lie and cheat. I would recommend this book because it is a cute story if you can get passed the cheating trope. I think as the series go on, I will fall in love with the characters more.

The Right Kind of Wrong by Jillian Marie is a heartfelt, emotional story about love, forgiveness, and learning to be honest with yourself and others.

The characters felt so real and flawed in a way that made me completely invested in their journeys.
Jillian’s writing is raw and genuine, and I really appreciated how she showed that love isn’t always simple. Love takes communication, respect, and growth.

Thank you so much to Jillian Marie for letting me read this early! I’m so grateful for the chance to experience such a moving story and read the sequel to Natalie, Jason and Will’s journey. 💛

What do you do when you give in to temptation and have become the cheater?

I did like how she delves into the emotions and explosive chemistry between 2 people. I liked how she paints a picture of how it can happen and the fallout of actions. She did a great job of not sugarcoating issues between merging families together.

I’m not a fan of the cheating trope and having happy ever afters from hurting others. That doesn’t mean that the book wasn’t wrote great. The author did a fantastic job of portraying the issues and the feeling from both parties; both the guilt and the love. Just because it’s not my favorite trope doesn’t mean she didn’t write a great story.

I would recommend.

I absolutely adored this! It picked up right where The Wrong Kind of Perfect left off, I loved that the characters, Natalie and Will continued to come back to each other despite there being so many hurdles. And that Natalie finally found it within herself to try. I loved the romance and intimacy. I loved the ending and I am also excited for Meredith and Evan's story!

However, I found this a lot more fast paced than the first book. I love some smut, but some of the descriptions of their intimacy felt repeated. Saying this, I would still pick it up again for a reread.

I adored this duet so much. I was pleasantly surprised when I loved the first one so much so I was super excited about this second book featuring Natalie and Will.

I feel like everything was wrapped up so nicely and this book really shows the messy side of love which we don’t usually see in a lot of romance books. I think that’s why I liked it so much.

This duet was my introduction to this author and I will definitely be reading more of her work because I’m sure I will love them just as much!

Thank you so much to the author and Happily Booked PR for an advance copy of this book!

Great story of messy love after divorce, and working to blend two families together. As a kid that grew up with separated parents who both married and blended families, I can appreciate all the messiness and difficulties Will and Natalie went through. Divorce is messy, finding love again is messy, and add 6 kids into the mix and there’s a whole other level. There were times throughout the book where I was definitely frustrated with the MCs, but they eventually figured their stuff out 😅 and I loved the blend of all the families that come together at the end.

Hello, people!
I've read two books in the past few days but I've been slow to tell you about them.
In the second book, The Right Kind of Wrong, the protagonists are Natalie and Will. Here we see more emotion, character development and the concept of forgiveness. The story speaks to us and asks us to experience the emotions of the heroes. Her writing, here, is warmer, more focused, dynamic and tender.

Thank you very much to the author and Happily Booked PR for the eARC!

This is my honest review!
