Rate this book
Jack is a raw, heart-wrenching, and intensely personal memoir based on true events that takes readers on a journey through love, betrayal, and the complex layers of human relationships. Based on true events, Emily Pisciotta shares her deeply intimate experiences, revealing the messy realities of trust, passion, and heartbreak.

From a whirlwind engagement to a rushed wedding, Emily’s story captures the thrill and chaos of love at first sight, the intimacy of young adulthood, and the highs and lows of building a life with someone in the military. But beneath the joy and excitement lies a hidden a carefully guarded life of lies, emotional manipulation, and betrayal that shatters everything she thought she knew about love.

With unflinching honesty, Jack explores the vulnerability of opening one’s heart, the devastation of discovering years of deceit, and the painstaking path toward forgiveness. Emily’s voice is raw, relatable, and unfiltered, drawing readers into her emotional world as she navigates trust, jealousy, heartbreak, and the struggle to reclaim her own sense of self.

Through moments of laughter, passion, tension, and heartbreak, this memoir paints a vivid portrait of resilience, self-discovery, and the enduring complexity of human connection. It is a story that will resonate with anyone who has loved deeply, been hurt, and learned that healing—and forgiveness—are never simple, but always possible.

Jack is more than a story about love gone wrong; it is a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to endure, adapt, and ultimately find hope in the aftermath of betrayal. Emotional, gripping, and unforgettable, this memoir will leave readers reflecting on their own relationships, choices, and the true meaning of love and trust.

From found family gone wrong to first love falling apart this is a roller coaster of emotions that I could not help but keep going no matter how much worse it got for the FMC. Thats not to say there isn't some light here and there, this author does a great job of making you ride the ride of life with all its twists and turns, and I am very much excited about (as well as dreading) the next installment of this series.

This is clearly a deeply personal story, that is full of ups and downs. It's a fantastic debut from a new indie author and I am insanely proud of her for putting her story out there. I do believe this is a planned 3-4 book series so if you are here for an HEA, look elsewhere lol. I really enjoyed the realistic style of this and wanted to root for Emma so bad, but she makes some seriously questionable decisions; HOWEVER its obvious that a lot of these things are from someone who is very young and has built up a lot of trauma (with little to no support system) as well as coming from a rough start in life, so I can look past some of that and look forward to seeing her grow over the next few books.

There are definitely some trigger warnings in this (ie-emotional manipulation, abuse, SA, toxic relationships, pregnancy loss & mental health), I would advise anyone wanting to read to consider those. I would also give it like 3/5 on the spice rating, its not overly graphic in the spice department but there is quite a bit of spice scenes, some cringier than others in a way that is fitting to the character and her outlook on life.

"I wake up in the morning to the sound of silence-no boots dropping on the floor, no military alarm blaring from his phone, no smell of coffee drifting from the kitchen. Just stillness. A loud, echoing kind of stillness. The air feels different. Hollow. Like everything that was 'us' left with that duffle bag... The days blur, but somehow they keep moving, even when I don't want them to. And slowly, without even realizing it, I start moving too."

Thank you bestie for allowing me to read this incredibly emotional story. You got this girl, and I will be your biggest hype (wo)man for this entire journey!
