I never know what I am going to be getting myself into when it comes to these paranormal x shifter romances. And once again I was utterly surprised!
Moving to a new town is always exciting, but moving to a new town to die quietly is something different. Being sick and not knowing what is wrong with her, Ember wants to make her last days count, but this all gets YEETED OUT THE DOOR and TURNED UPSIDE DOWN when the alpha who rules Black Hollows notices her. Davix is determined to do everything he can to keep his pack intact but is finding it hard to concentrate with Ember around. Making things more difficult, Cade, Ember’s brother’s best friend seems to be getting under Ember’s skin, making Davix want to keep her close, when he knows he shouldn’t. Only wanting to care for her, and to see her survive, Cade, is not letting anything get in her way, including Davix. Now being caught between them, getting into dangerous situations, uncovering enemies, and finding out truths that Ember couldn’t even think of SHIT HITS THE FAN AND IT GETS CHAOTIC AS FUCK!
As always, Emilia is BRINGING THE SPICE, and it gets FIERY up in here! The chemistry and relationship between Ember and Davix, was vastly different to Ember and Cade. In that though, I definitely preferred Ember’s relationship with Cade the most. In mentioning that though, I hope that there will be more depth to the characters in the next book! And hopefully LITERALLY ANYONE will eat more than goddamn banana bread HAHA.
I FOR SURE WAS NOT EXPECTING what happened in the end because IT WAS WILD! It’ll DEFINITELY be interesting to see what transpires in the next book of this duet, considering WHAT THE FUCK just happened with that CLIFFHANGER ending!

The 4.5 ⭐️ rating is for the vibes and spicy scenes. You breeze through the story, it keeps you invested. Just don’t look too closely at the plot, just go with it.
WHAT I LOVED:

💜 the individual mystery that surrounds each MMC
💜 how each MMC can be loved/hated for different reasons, so when you think you’ve found your favorite - you change your mind again

💜 the DELICIOUS language with 473 f*cks, 67 heats, 48 d*cks, 30 cl*ts, 21 wets, 18 c*nts,...
WHAT I STRUGGLED WITH:
😑 how the reader is “told” that she is terminally ill, but her day-to-day physical activities rarely reflect it, making it unbelievable
😑 how she so easily sleeps with different men, although her feelings do not explain why (there is no strong mystical attraction)
😑 how advanced their sense of smell is, but they do not notice that she smells of other men
😑 how the DVP is just “oops, slip in” - I mean, she just stretches that easily??
😑 how alpha Davix tries to stay away by sleeping with another woman (implied, not on page) - I like my MMCs utterly obsessed and celibate/monogamous, especially in PNR
😑 how she goes into heat like every 5 minutes
😑 the last sentence is “continue reading on REAM” - the next book of this duet is finished, but is only coming to Amazon in July 2027 #WTF

Overall, this book is action-packed, fast-paced, and fun to read, featuring an interesting, original plot; a quaint small-town setting with adorable wildlife; and several likable characters, including hot (but frustrating) alphahole werewolf MMCs and a strong but vulnerable human FMC. I can relate to Ember's craving for banana bread, not to mention her desire for Cade, her brother's best friend, who's become her lover and protector, and Davix, her conflicted fated mate, who feels he has to reject her to save her as well as his pack. I admire Ember for wanting to live a "normal" life despite her condition, since I can relate to that too, and Cade and Davix for wanting to love and protect her despite "fate" working against them.
I'll admit that connecting to these characters was sometimes difficult for me because of their strange, somewhat unrealistic reactions (maybe the story is a little too mysterious?), but I loved the banter and chemistry between both Ember and Cade and Ember and Davix, and Emilia Rose definitely knows how to write a steamy romance. I'll also admit that I found the writing a little chaotic due to the excessive exclamation marks and interrobangs, which were distracting, even in intense scenes; however, I could see Emilia's passion on the page, which keeps things exciting. I can't wait to read the next book and see whether Ember will go on to live a long life full of love (and less-frustrating alphaholes) like she deserves. Will Alaric be involved? Who knows?

Another emotionally charged story from the queen of smutty scenes. This one has a human (or is she more) girl who is dying and retreats to the woods for her treatments and to live out her final days. However, the local alpha wolf, Davix, scents her immediately but won't/can't be with her. Curses be damned. But that doesn't stop some steamy scenes between these two. Then add in the best friend wolf Cade, also an alpha, and he seems like he's up to some nefarious stuff behind the scenes. Not sure if he's with her for her, or because of Davix. Then her brother is present for some of the story and then mysteriously disappears and I'm beginning to think all isn't kosher with him either. Then you get another mystery man, Alaric, into the mix. Holy Hannah, I'm having trouble keeping up with all these men. It's not stop action, majority of it steamy, Lots of witty banter involved, which I loved. But hold onto your seats, it's a bumpy ride and it only takes you to the edge of the cliff before leaving you hanging while we wait for book 2 to release.

Werewolves, is there a better time of year for this kind of book? In my opinion absolutely not! And who better to write the tale then Mrs. Rose? No one of course if you want some blood, dismemberment, stalking, death, war, rejection, a curse, there may or may not be some necromancy involved, plenty of spice and that doesn't include the main characters. Davix, Cade, Ember and eventually Aleric all have their own unique role to play. Ember is at the center of all of it. Why well that's anybody's guess and that's one of the best parts because everyone wants to know what's going on with Ember well except Ember really she's just tired. So let the fun and games begin because these men are competitive and on each other's every nerve. Also be ready to be left spinning on the edge of a cliff and hang on tight this one's part of a duet.

Omg what a book!! From sizzling romance, to drama to amazing written characters this book has it all!! Read in one sitting it was that good!! If you love a werewolf spicy book this is definitely for you!! The male characters are all just hot and steamy and mysterious too! Our main character Ember is an absolute legend! She is a strong woman for going through all she is going through health wise and then also putting up with Alphaholes left right and centre! Not to mention Ember has cute little fox friends Daisy and Pumpkin!!!

The love triangle between Ember, Cade, and Davix had my heart pulling in both directions. Cade is the brothers best friend who feels like home, while Davix is the dangerous, alphaasshole that just like Ember, I couldn’t stop craving.
And the little sidekick foxes? Absolutely adorable!
What touched me most was our FMC’s journey. My heart broke for the girl who believed she was sick beyond repair, but soared for the powerful woman she was destined to become. With the secrets, supernatural twists, and chemistry, this story had me fully locked in.

Rejected by the Alpha is a good, spicy, dramatic story. I couldn't put down!
Ember is incredible! She is strong, stubborn, and dealing with so much, yet she is still facing down a pack of alphaholes like a legend. Her little fox friends Daisy and Pumpkin make everything even better. 🥰🥰🥰
The werewolf men are hot, mysterious, and chaotic. The push and pull between Ember and Davix is intense, Cade adds even more tension, and Alaric… yeah, he’s trouble in the best way. The heartbreak hits hard, the drama never slows down, and the spice is chef’s kiss💋

This book definitely has spice but there's more. The storyline gives us information to fill in the holes and answer the questions we may have had early on in the book. I must say, though, that Ember stomped on my last nerve. I thought I was going to feel bad for her with the way Davix acted and with her health situation. But nope, she made me want to throttle her. Regardless, I can't wait to see what else happens in Black Hollows.

It’s a fast paced story filled with action, spice, intresting and Extremly funny story with Extremly much mystery that you just can’t wait to dive into.
For me it definitely was a emotional rollercoaster.

Ember has a mysterious illness that brings her into Davix's territory. Wary of taking on a mate, Davix's indifference pushes her towards her protector Cade.
I love the Ember, Cade and Davix scenes. So much angst, sarcasm and alphahole energy. And Chapter 36 is super hot, had me blushing at work. Can't wait for more

Oooooo! I have so many questions! I like the feistiness in Ember, the way she is determined to live her last days with no regrets. Going head to head with Davix is just one of the ways Ember can make herself forget the awful truth. Cade also is a great distraction. I’m so so curious to see where this all goes!
