USA Today Bestselling Author Lisa Hughey started writing romance in the fourth grade. That particular story involved a prince and an engagement. Now, she writes about strong heroines who are perfectly capable of rescuing themselves and the heroes who love both their strength and their vulnerability. She pens romances of all types—suspense, paranormal, and contemporary—but at their heart, all her books celebrate the power of love.

She lives in Cape Ann Massachusetts with her fabulously supportive husband, two out of three awesome mostly-grown kids, and one somewhat grumpy cat.

Yoga, hiking, and traveling are her favorite ways to pass the time when she isn’t plotting new ways to get her characters to fall in love.

I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I'm going to do something I've never done before--review multiple books in the same review. I'm doing this for two reasons, the first is that I received the Black Cipher Files Trilogy as one ebook. The second is that it is all part of the same story, without NEEDING to be read as such.

The thing that I like about all three books (Blowback, Betrayals, and Burned) is that they all have their own plot, but added together they help make sence of the underlying plot.

All three couples are unique and well thought out, keeping the romance of the books on the steamy side. They all deal with high level government agencies and extremely sensitive information. Each couple's story have their own quirks and I adored them all. Although Zeke and Sunshine (of Burned) are my favourite.

Wow, what a phenomenal series! This is a trilogy that grabbed my attention from the very first page and kept it until the very last page of the last book. It is a fast paced and well constructed romantic suspense/thriller that was so good that I was sorry when it ended. Each book focuses on two people with supporting characters in common over the three books. Each book is a stand alone novel, but you will appreciate it so much more if you read them as the author intended.

This author was new to me, but I have added her to my must read authors' list. She is a very talented writer and if you haven't yet read anything by her, you are missing out.

Good conclusion to the saga

Ms. Hughey has a writing style that is easy and fun to read. I've enjoyed meeting the new characters in this book, as well as reconnecting with old favorites. Her books are great when I'm looking for light reading with an interesting plot. She's made me laugh, even when I didn't feel like laughing. That's a great thing, especially when I was recovering from surgery.

The Best One!

Burned is the absolute best book in the trilogy. Lisa's writing in this story held me captive throughout the entire novel as the characters worked to solve not only the mystery of the spy world but of themselves. Great read.

Flawless!

The minute Zeke sees Sunshine he knows he is in trouble...not only is she flawless but she is also completely innocent. He has no idea what she is running from or why, he just knows he needs to help her, keep her safe, protect her because she is his. His to protect, his to save and his to love...even if this costs him everything because without her he has nothing. For the first time in his life his job is not the most important thing, this amazing, terrified but determined, delicate with hidden strength woman is his reason for living and he is petrified! Another Black Cipher Files full of twists, turns, shadows, secrets and a threat who is closer than any of them know. Love this series!

Loved Sunshine/Claire!

I loved their unorthodox meeting. I loved the chemistry between Sunshine and Zeke. Zeke and Sunshine helped each other with their respective problem.
I loved that Sunshine finally stood up to her stepfather, that she no longer had to fear him.
Thank you Ms. Hughey for a great story. Can't wait to read more from this series.

Great series

I like that each book focused on each. Pair of characters without losing plot continuity. Congrats on a tale well told.

Not bad. Zeke and Sunshine were good together. It's been a while since I read the first one so I was a little lost on the mystery, couldn't quite remember what happened - and I didn't read the second one at all but it mostly came back. I don't really like Sunshine's mum though - she invites this guy into their lives, he kills the grandparents, she doesn't report him or the crime, they spend an extended period of time on the run and totally messes up her daughter but then totally backtracks and ends up with a fiance - that she failed to tell her about, then she ditches her to some guy she doesn't really know and add to all that SHE GETS MARRIED WITHOUT HER DAUGHTER. Sunshine only focuses on this idea that her mother needs her and now she doesn't - but need or not, she still gets married without her daughter there. I'd be pretty fking hurt and I don't really understand why Sunshine is not. Her mother is kind of an asshole. The rest of it was okay though. I like Zeke and him and Sunshine were cute together.

Black Cipher Files Series

I really enjoyed this series! Quick, easy reads and well developed plot lines and characters which continued through each book...a little more sex scenes then I felt necessary - seems more and more an obligatory nod to the overwhelming success of "Fifty Shades of Grey" and the apparent need for continuation of the motto, 'sex sells'. Anywho...first reads for me by Lisa Hughey, who I feel has a great writing style, engaging, witty banter, with a nod to the sciences and geeks, I'm admittedly a keen follower/member of both groups. Loved having pieces fall into place without me already having pieced them together...a nod to Lisa on that! Hope you all pick up book 1 and get to reading, might as well order all 3 books at once, I know you'll be wanting to dive right into the next in line just as soon as you've read the final page of the previous book(s)!
