Sevyn’s Hidden Symphony
Sevyn had always believed in devotion. She gave, she loved, she sacrificed. Seven years of her life were spent molding herself into what he needed what he wanted. And in return, he left her with nothing but a hollowed-out heart and the kind of loneliness that clung to her like a second skin.
The rain mirrored her misery, cascading down in relentless sheets as she stood outside, her bags at her feet, her pride shattered beneath the weight of betrayal. Where did she go from here? She had no answers, only the numbing realization that she had wasted years chasing a love that had never truly been hers.
But then again, wasn’t that all she had ever known?
Her whole life, she had sought validation from the people who were supposed to love her first. Aurora, her sister, stood tall in the eyes of their parents, a reflection of the legacy she was meant to uphold. Elegant. Sweet. Loving. Respected. And then there was Sevyn, the afterthought, the one who was never quite enough. She had spent her entire life trying to prove she was worthy, bending over backward for even the smallest acknowledgment, only to be met with indifference. She had fought for their love, only to be given their disregard. It didn’t matter what she did; the outcome was always the same. They had their pride, and she had their rejection.
She should’ve been used to it by now.
Fate, however, had other plans.
She was supposed to disappear, to fade into the nothingness they had reduced her to. Instead, she was found by him. Truth was a man who lived by his own rules, someone who carried the weight of his last name like a warning rather than a privilege. He was built by the shadows, thriving in a world where power was measured in fear and blood. He never cared about the company he kept or got rid of. That was until he met Sevyn, and his entire world was consumed by protecting the one who couldn’t protect herself.

Damn! 😮 Sevyn went through it her entire life, feeling alienated in her own family. When she couldn't take it anymore, and was done, she planned to just float away into forever. Well, she had an angel on her side that night. Truth came to the rescue with no questions asked saving her and giving himself a light he didn't know he needed.
Ish hits the fan when Truth learns that betrayal, jealousy, greed, and envy are on his doorstep. Let the war begin. There were bodies dropping everywhere, while Truth was trying to protect Sevyn and his sister Serenity. Secrets came to light, alliances were exposed, and the unthinkable happens. 💔 Truth became a shell of himself. 🥹 Rightfully so, but I wanted to beat his ass for how he treated Sevyn. 😤 You know that she was just getting over how her family pushed her to the side, then you go and do the same damn thing cause you hurt? 😤🤬 Noooo, Sevyn..... Help her in time Syx! 🥹 Running to the next read.

Nice book 🥰
This book totally hooks you from the start. The characters are super well-done. Sevyn's at her breaking point, accidentally thrown into a life with people who couldn't care less about her. Truth swoops in and saves her. Sevyn finally gets to see what real friendship is like until a huge loss shatters everything. The author did an amazing job with this book. Can't wait to read part 2 of the series.

Loved it
This story had a lot going on in a good way, the story flows very well and the characters are definitely interesting. This is the first time I’ve read from this author. She didn’t disappoint.

Nope! Nope! Those last pages broke me man, yelling and crying! I get it, Truth your baby sister is dead but to say that shit to Sevyn is fucking wrong! Ugh!

Hmmm, beautiful gowns. Lovely gowns.
I would describe what I didn't like about this book to rate as 2 stars but it would be a massive spoiler so instead for the #bad I'll leave my reactions:
💥 umm Law & Order taught me that's not how that trial/situation goes
💥 ummm so you really going to reveal the dastardly e-vil villain's plan right in front of him and turn around to leave.
💥 ummmm sooo homeboy really just keeps some chloroform on him just in case
💥 ummmmm okayyy we just going to commit major crime in that spot with that many people and then go back to vacay vibes
But not everything was horrible all the time. I did like Sevyn. I'm a sucker for a good damsel-in-distress story and this one delivers on that front. Truth was a capable MMC until he wasn't. He took them on great dates.

💭“I never thought I was better than you,” said, voice breaking through with raw emotion. “But you let envy eat your ass alive.” “Oh, you thought I let it eat me?” snarled. “Nah, nigga. I fed it. I nurtured it. And now look at me.
Grown men dunking on women who were coming over to flirt:
💭 pointed at her hair. “Ma’am, I ain’t gon’ lie—that wig look like it got evicted and repossessed all in the same day.”
💭 wasn’t done. His eyes landed on the other girl. “And you—you knew damn well that swimsuit wasn’t gon’ stretch no further. Why you got it screaming for help?”
Overall
The first 20% of this read starts off very strong but somewhere along the way the story really starts having pieces not make sense with the whole. Characters' motivations don't quite align with what we were told. Glaring plot holes. A lot of "huh, but that doesn't make sense" moments start tumbling in and by the end I was utterly shocked it was a cliffhanger. Now the inconsistencies and unnecessary character actions clicked. I guess it was needed to stretch out the story. Undo pages of character growth for absolutely nothing. Provide conflicts that don't add up to what we were told/shown/given previously. If I pick up Book 2 it's only to flip to the very end to see what happed with Sevyn in the long run. Truth doesn't deserve her anyway. Maybe a time jump and she bosses up.

First time read from this author I can honestly say I'm presently surprised. As the Book started off I did not have high hopes but as it went on I got to kno seven and I really felt for her. Especially when I realized what she was looking for. Truth truth 💯 then he ticked me off I low key understood how he could shut the world out but to bring another women and shatter an already fragile women was lower then dirt smf I wanted to drown him in the LAKE
