When a strange power surge shuts down the grid, ER nurse Beth Green races to reach her family before chaos consumes the nation. With no power, no law, and no help coming, she must rely on her skills and her courage to survive the collapse of everything she’s known.
A very good story. It was something that I had promised myself that I would read.
It was a good premise and was written well. The story flowed well and went into a lot of the things that I have been reading of the breakdown of the grid systems. It really makes you think about what could happen in that type of situation. If people would be ready to actually live through the hardships and shortages that would inevitably be a part of daily life. One thing that I hadn't thought about was the medical treatment and shortages of prescribed medication. And then the people who would inevitably try to take advantage of other people. It makes you think!
this book was very interesting and pretty realistic. I have often heard of the EMP bomb that would disable all electronics and vehicles as we now have and what a mess we would all be in! No outside communication or knowing what went on or why. No contacts with family and loved ones from afar. Very well written and certainly a 'what if' book. Lots of action. Shows the true human nature and how strong we can be in stressful situations. Good read.
Beth and Andrew had suffered in their marriage and now were divorced. But now they were fighting against a crumbling world and that can bring souls back together!
A very thought-provoking read that causes a person to stop and ponder what is really important in life. For me, it is my relationship with God and the peoparound me.
Nice story, typical Post Apocalypse genre, nothing special, no special insights, for a free book it wasn’t bad. Killed a couple of hours pleasantly enough.
