Eight Days Anxious

Rate this book
Private investigator Mylas Grey accepts any case as long as it doesn’t violate the law.
Does the Brennan case do that? He’s not sure. He accepts it anyway.

He accepts the Brennan case because Jason Brennan is holding a United States senator hostage. But that’s not the full story. The full story is much more complicated.

It’s complicated because it involves finding a missing wife and daughter . . .
Brennan’s wife and daughter disappeared when he was sent to prison ten years ago. Now it’s up to Mylas to find them. But can he do it in eight days?

It’s complicated because it involves discovering who murdered a social activist . . .
Brennan was convicted of murdering social activist Anna Loring during a protest rally on the National Mall. Brennan didn’t do it, and now Mylas is determined to find out who did.

It’s complicated because it involves keeping secrets from law enforcement . . .
If the police are notified, Brennan is threatening to kill the senator, and he’s wired the house with explosives to show he’s serious. In spite of the danger, Mylas asks a homicide detective to retrieve the Loring murder file from the police archives.

As the clock ticks down, Mylas must maneuver his way through a maze of political ambition, moral corruption, and judicial misconduct, which challenges his investigative skills, tests his newfound faith, and draws him closer to Whitney.

If you enjoy heart-pounding suspense stories with a faith-driven hero and a budding love story, you’ll love Eight Days Anxious, where revenge becomes redemption, faith overcomes fear, and grace silences guilt—Book VIII in the Mylas Grey Mystery Series.

All books in this series feature Mylas Grey, the unexpected heir to a multimillion-dollar fortune, a former criminal defense attorney, and a seasoned investigator who’s honed his observational expertise to a fine art.

Murder Investigation with Great Twists
While this series is best read in order, each book is a complete case that stands on its own. This book is the eighth in a series about a private investigator in the Washington, DC area who always gets the most interesting cases. As with all of this author's work, the stories are clean. There is no foul language, no intimacy, little violence, and no gore. The stories are Christ-centered, and every chapter will reference God several times. I found this book difficult to put down and enjoyed it very much.

Jason ♥️ Colleen

Another fascinating story! A murder cold case and an engrossing encounter with a convict, Jason Brennan, accused of murder but really, he didn’t do it! He spent ten years of a twenty year sentence in prison, then couldn’t find his wife when he got out of prison. Mylas Grey Investigations gets involved and not only interrupts the happenings now but finds evidence in the cold case to exonerate Jason. This horror story ends well, is well thought out and has an unbelievable ending. Just perfect!

Fun and thought-filled reading…

While the story is fun and enjoyable, I truly enjoy the characters, interactions, and following them as they seek God in their everyday lives. They find they really can’t make it through when they forget about their very important relationship with their Father. It challenges me to do better every day while I enjoy reading these well written novels.

What a wonderful mystery. A hostage situation puts Mylas between a rock and a hard place because he can't get the law enforcement involved. It's a race against time to solve this case to acquit a man who has been sent to prison, find his wife and daughter, and find the true killer. The author weaves Christian faith into this story naturally. Great read.
