Based on the author’s own family, this book explores the lives of Norwegian women during World War II and beyond. Starting with Ruth, a mother alone with her young children as German soldiers lay communication lines in her backyard, and following her daughters as they move into adulthood and America. The triumphs and challenges these women face will make you smile and cry.
This story immediately drew me in and I read it over two days. It gives you enough history and background of Norway and Norway during World War II without slowing down the story.
I look forward to her next book!
