A grumpy cowboy with a permanent scowl isn't quite what I had on my holiday wishlist this year.
Except we don't always get what we wish for, which I quickly learn when I find out the Christmas vacation home I booked is a scam. Which means I need to get off the surly silver fox’s property ASAP.
But even a grumpy cowboy has manners, and he isn’t about to send this city girl away with a snowstorm blowing through town–even if it would make his life less complicated.
Another not-so-small problem? There's only one bed in his cabin.
I might be used to bright city lights, but country evenings turn into the perfect holiday nights when I find myself wrapped up in his arms. It seems the crackling fire isn't the only thing heating up, and I can’t help but wonder if fate led me here after all.
Dreaming of a Cowboy Christmas is a spicy, age gap holiday romance between a sunshine girl and a grumpy cowboy who uses toys as teammates.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ overall i enjoyed this book and it was perfect for easing me back into reading, but i’ll probably forget about it in a day or two if i’m being honest 😬

4⭐ Genre ~ holiday romance Setting ~ Arizona Publication date ~ November 13, 2025 Est Page Count ~ 256 (22 chapters +e) POV ~ dual 1st Featuring ~ snowed in, grumpy/sunshine, age gap, one bed, remote small town, country man meets city girl, opposites attract, some steamage and a Highland cow named Maple
Noelle (25) & Shep (45) meet when she shows up at his house assuming it’s a rental she booked for 2 weeks. Turns out she was scammed. In the middle of a snow storm with nowhere to go in her convertible, Shep has no choice but to offer his couch to this damsel in distress.
Noelle had no clue Arizona gets snow. Can't say I did either, but I would have definitely researched my vacation destination before I booked it. Despite that mishap, and packing only summer clothes, she stays positive. She's a real ray of sunshine and loves everything about Christmas. Someone you'd want to be your bff.
I really liked Shep. He comes off as a true grump, but he’s really just a big ole teddy bear. He's not a big fan of Christmas, but it turns out maybe he just needed to meet the right person to change that. The things he does to make Christmas special for Noelle was so sweet.
The age gap was a little too big for me, and I could do without her calling him daddy, but I felt their fondness of each other come through the pages. And I suppose age is really just a number.
Every last side character was wonderful and a great addition to the story.
Overall, I'm always down for a no drama story with characters that communicate and no 3rd act breakup ~ Hallelujah, it’s a Christmas miracle.
Cover notes: Goes along perfectly with the story and the description of the characters.

This was the epitome of Hallmark movies but with smut and I LOVED IT 😭🎄🔥
I love the holidays so much, and when authors release these amazing short stories where we get the holiday spirit intertwined with romance… as a romance reader I’m all for it AND DID I MENTION THE SPICE 😏✨
Anywayyy, you have Noelle, a podcaster who needs to get away for the holidays and decides on a solo trip to Arizona. But then she discovers her cabin booking was a scam, and now she’s in the middle of nowhere with a sexy cowboy who has no choice but to help her since a blizzard is heading their way ❄️ FORCED PROXIMITY HELLOOOO 😮💨🔥
I gotta say… the spice is what did it for me 😭 I wanted holiday vibes but smutty, and Ann delivered with the toys, blindfold, and tension breaking like… yes DADDY and I do mean Daddy because he’s older hehehehehe 😏🎁🔥
Hope this convinced you 😌 Happy Holidays ❤️🎄✨

3.75/5 It was cute. It could be better without a doubt, but I had some good time reading it. But it was quite cosy, there wasn’t any drama (which is a must in Christmas books), and I really enjoyed the pacing. I can’t complain about the plot, the story was running smoothly. There was also no miscommunication and no 3rd act conflict/breakup so I’m extremely thankful to the author 🙏🏼, that was exactly what I needed.
Unfortunately, the main characters felt bland to me. I didn’t hate them, but I didn’t particularly like them either. I was indifferent to them the whole time. They weren’t annoying at least lmao.
I was a bit worried when he first mentioned his ex-fiancée, but it was like two times at the beginning of the story, and it was really clear that he didn’t love her anymore, so I forgot about it rather quickly. I still don’t understand how he could stop celebrating Christmas because of her, it was ridiculous, but to each their own I guess.
The smut was hot, there were quite a few scenes and they didn’t cringe me. I didn’t enjoy her calling him daddy, but daddy kink very very rarely works for me, I don’t like it most of the time.
Thank you to the author and The Smuthood for sending me the ARC!!! I really appreciate it.
safety: -no ow/om drama (just one scene of om jealousy) -no cheating/sharing -both celibate (MMC - more than 10 years, FMC - about 6 months, her ex-boyfriend cheated on her) -they are both people who like commitment!!! -age gap 20 years (MMC 45, FMC 25) -no 3rd act breakup/conflict
____________ 04/11: will be getting the ARC from the Smuthood 🫶🏼
Dreaming of a Cowboy Christmas was so cute and fun! This is a grumpy x sunshine, age gap (20 years), snowed in, cowboy, holiday romance set in Arizona!
Noelle is a busy podcaster who rarely has time off but decides to book a last-minute vacation rental for the holidays in Arizona. She recently broke up with her trash boyfriend and missed out on her family’s planned holiday trip, so she needs a fun trip just for her and to get a much-needed break. But things quickly derail when she arrives and realizes she was scammed and paid for a place that doesn’t actually exist…now she’s got nowhere to go, she’s freezing since she only packed clothes for warm-weather, and she’s confronted by Shep, the grumpy cowboy who says she’s trespassing on his property!
This was just a fun, snowed in holiday romance. With nowhere to go, Shep invites Noelle to crash at his place for a bit. And things quickly heat up from there for these two with all the close proximity. She’s forced to take an actual break from work when she doesn’t have service on her devices and starts to get interested in Shep instead. This is a good mix of sweet and spicy, we have toys, fun trying things out together, a 20 year age gap (he’s 45, she’s 25), his dream of always having a family, and some cute barnyard animals on his property too.
I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own.
It was a quick holiday novella good enough to pass some time. There's an age gap, instant attraction, hawt chemistry and palpable tension. I mean, what could I ask for? 🤭
Anyway, I enjoyed it and had a good time reading the MCs together. 😄
If you’re looking for a cute, quick and spicy Christmas read then this may be for you. This had so many of my favourite tropes and was such a fun read.
Noelle is a podcaster who never takes time off. She decides to book a last minute Christmas vacation to sunny Arizona. One problem - she ends up in snowy Arizona and the cabin she rented doesn’t actually exist. Standing outside in freezing cold she is confronted by the owner of the cabin, a grumpy (and very handsome) cowboy. With the weather coming in fast and Noelle having no where else to go, Shep begrudgingly offers her his couch until the storm passes. Their first look attraction grows quickly the more time they spend together and although it’s cold outside, things start heating up inside the cabin.
Shep is the best kind of cowboy with his grumpy exterior, but under all his layers he is a big softie. He’s kind, caring and observant. The way he looked after Noelle had me kicking my feet.
Noelle and Shep had the best banter and their chemistry was mind blowing. There was a serious amount of spice which will have you blushing.
Although it was a novella, I didn’t feel like anything was missing. It was the perfect amount of everything and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you to Ann and her team for the early copy.
- Christmas Romance - Age Gap - Snowed In - Forced Proximity - No Third Act Break Up - Hallmark After Dark - Only One Bed - Cowboy Romance - Grumpy x Sunshine
This was an adorable Snowed In for Christmas romance! Nice and steamy too!
Noelle gets stranded at a little cabin she was tricked into renting for vacation, only to discover a Grumpy older cowboy already loves there. He would even kick her out immediately, but a storm has rolled in and he's definitely not heartless.
The longer she stays, the deeper they fall and this little accidental meeting becomes the Christmas miracle they didn't know to ask for.
This had charm, sweetness, spice, and farm animals! What else could you ask for? Another hit of a Holiday Romance from Ann Einerson.
I have said it once and I will say it again, Ann is my ultimate comfort author and she can do no wrong. This book was everything I didn't know I needed and UI ate up every. single. word.
This plot was adorable, and Shep was a silver fox, grumpy cowboy that I want under my Christmas tree. It's like Hallmark but with spice and I could not get enough. I loved Shep and Noelle with my whole dang heart.
✨ Christmas Novella ✨ Cowboy x City Girl ✨ Forced Proximity ✨ Age Gap ✨ Grumpy x Sunshine ✨ One Bed
Please give me all the grumpy cowboys with hearts of gold. Shep is a walking contradiction of grumpy grunts and kind-hearted gestures and I wanted to wrap him up and burn the world down for him. Noelle id the brightest ray of sunshine and watching her bring Shep out of his self imposed isolation made me melt. I am a puddle on the floor.
This man made me swoon. He is an acts of Service KING and I love him. He's also an older "daddy" and whew man, that cowboy can be demanding. I loved how heartfelt this was and how it balanced sweetness with some amazing spice. Like the spice was immaculate.
Hands down add this one to your tbr now. I beg you.
I’ve never read a book with an age gap this big, but damn, I liked it a lot.A grumpy x sunshine done right, perfect for Christmas. I loved this book so much from the beginning till the end. There were some things that didn’t sit right with me but I will get past them. I loved Shep and how grumpy he was, but I loved more how all the other characters teased him regarding Noelle. 😚😚😚 He was literally perfect, too good to be true(hopefully men in real life are like him🤞) and very 🥵 ngl. Apart from the cliche blue-eyed, blonde-hair, Noelle was amazing too(don’t get me wrong, the cliche felt nostalgic, reminding me of the nights spent on wattpad😌✋)I liked her personality, she was funny, cute, lovely, enthusiastic. Also, the name Noelle is extremely beautiful. This whole book was cute and lovely and funny.I giggled, I laughed and overall I felt so good reading this book.It fits the holidays vibe and is a great steamy short book to read this time of the year. The writing was so great, I’ll definitely pick up more books from this author. It felt like I wasn’t reading, I actually was floating through the book. I just wished there was snow outside to fit the vibe better😔
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ Pre-read I forgot I actually read another Christmasy book before and it was one of my favourites but I forgot😭😭😭 I’ve been searching for Christmas books, since I’ve never read one (actually read one at the beginning of summer but it didn’t fit the vibe🤷♀️) and I came upon this one😍.This is also my first cowboy romance so wish me luck!!🤞🤞
Dear Santa, l've been good... but I'm wishing for a man who'll read the spicy scenes with me and make the toys more than just props. 😉
The grump, the sunshine, one bed, and a cabin in the middle of nowhere... honestly, it's the perfect setup for trouble (the delicious kind).
Noelle, a city girl dreaming of a sunny Arizona getaway, ends up stranded in a snowy small town after being scammed. Her grumpy host, Shep-a rugged recluse twice her age-wants nothing to do with Christmas or company, but a blizzard and one shared cabin change everything.
Their connection builds slowly and beautifully. Shep's guarded past makes his softening toward Noelle all the more satisfying, and her warmth is exactly what he didn't know he needed. The tension between them is magnetic-the kind that sizzles through every glance and touch. I loved that their story wasn't just lust in a snowstorm, but something deeper, full of quiet affection and genuine care.
The age gap, the snowed-in cabin, and that irresistible pull between them made this a story that feels as cozy as it is combustible.
It proves that sometimes, the best gifts are the ones you never see coming. 🎁

Thank you, Ann Einerson & The Smuthood, for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
First and foremost, Ann, I love you and your writing! And this one? It's perfection!
I want to preface with the fact that a large age gap is not something that I enjoy to read. Especially if the FMC is naive. It gives me the major ick. But why did I find this one to be so hot? I low key think a lot of it had to do with the characteristics of the MMC. This man is a salt and pepper mustache cowboy daddy. He's also extremely grumpy in the best way possible with a guarded heart. But he has this soft spot for Noelle, this city girl who landed on his doorstop in the middle of a snow storm. But like let's face it, I was sold the moment it was known he had a mustache and a rescued mini highland. Like say less baby!
I devoured this book! I loved these two. Shep and Noelle had amazing banter. They were such opposites on the surface. A bubbly, happy go lucky city girl who is 20 years younger than a grumpy scorned cowboy who never recovered from a broken heard. But deep down, these two actually have a lot in common. And I truly enjoyed how their story unfolded.
I would also like to mention, how I low key related to Shep on a deeper level. Which, I know may be an odd thing to say. Because let's face it, we rarely relate to the MMC in a book but I felt for him on a visceral level. The way this man longed to have a wife and children. And the way he accepted that that's a life he would never have. I relate to that. A path that we are on that we never envisioned for ourselves. And I may have gotten a little teary eyed when Shep found Noelle. She was able to give him everything he has ever dreamed of and so much more.
Ann! Thank you for giving me everything I didn't know I needed! I loved Noelle and Shep so much! And this age gap daddy kink may have me in my age gap era! 🖤
You should most definitely read this one if you like: - Small Town Romance - City Girl x Cowboy - Age Gap (20 years) - Grumpy x Sunshine - Opposites Attract - Strangers to Lovers - Snowed In - Holiday/Christmas Setting
Ann Einerson's "Dreaming of a Cowboy Christmas" is a spicy holiday romance where a city-girl podcaster named Noelle is spending the holiday season in Arizona. Unfortunately, when she gets there, she realizes she has gotten scammed, that the Airbnb she booked is actually owned by a grumpy older cowboy named Shep, who is still very much in the house. Shep reluctantly lets Noelle stay in his house to wait out the incoming winter storm. Despite his annoyed, grumpy exterior and demeanor, Shep and Noelle have an instant dynamic with one another, one full of biting banter and bratty commentary. Her sunshine-y disposition and endless optimism, even in the face of everything going wrong, are alluring to Shep. They flirt a little, sure, but Shep doesn't want to get involved because he is happy in his life of solitude. He doesn't want or need any more disappointments or risks with his heart. Noelle is feeling a little listless and aimless, and a flirty Christmas fling is exactly what she's looking for. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between Shep and Noelle, especially the spice! It is SIZZLING! The dynamic between these two characters is really good. I was invested in their relationship from the get-go. Sure, everything wraps up a little *too* nicely and quickly in the end, and sure, it super-duper helps that Shep is secretly loaded and can give Noelle virtually anything she wants and needs in life, even if she chooses to start over in Arizona, but otherwise, I was captivated by their chemistry and their story. I liked all of the side characters as well. More importantly, this *feels* like a Christmas romance through and through. Shep makes all of Noelle's Christmas dreams come true on more than one occasion. From twinkling lights to sparkling cocoa, from handmade Christmas gifts to holiday traditions, the spirit of the season flows freely in this novel. I highly recommend this one. It doesn't overstay its welcome and will definitely put you in a holiday mood!
Thank you to Ann Einerson and The Smuth0od for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
4.25⭐ Thank you Ann and team for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was the cutest, little Christmas read! Shep x Noelle had the craziest start - after being conned in spending money in a cabin she thought she was renting for the holidays, turns out it's someone's home. I felt so bad for her in that moment but then an older, grumpy cowboy strolled in and I was like, 'you'll be fine'🤭
It was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Noelle was this bright ray of sunshine who was absolutely fabulous and kind hearted. And what pulled at my heart the most was watching Shep’s heart thaw. He had already accepted that life will not give him what he hoped for. A family and love. And we start to see him believe again; live for himself again. Watching him love Noelle the way he does just melted my heart and no age gap was going to stop him.

I do think so much happened in such a short while, even their HEA epilogue... it's just a little unrealistic.
I will always love a grumpy older man, who can’t help but falling for the woman! And Shep is definitely fits that bill! When Noelle shows up on his doorstep trying to check into the cabin she booked, I don’t think either of them expected for things to play out like they did. Not only is she an unexpected guest, but she’s also stuck there for now since there’s a snow storm outside. And I ate up every page of this book with the tension between these two! Perfect for a cozy and spicy read this winter!

Thank you An Einerson, and Smuthood, for the opportunity to read this ARC! Available NOW!
Wheeewwwww! The girlies with a daddy kink are going to LOVE this one. (Me, I’m girly) The author was marketing this on her instagram as “Hallmark after dark” and it had me cracking up, but after reading it, HELL YEAH IT IS! The build up was amazing. It’s exactly what I wanted from from two people trying to deny their, very obvious, chemistry for each other! The angst between them had me blushing! The spice was EVERYTHING. Ann, you did your thing with this one!!
Noelle loves the holiday season, and spending it with her loved ones. Unfortunately, this Christmas, she’ll have to spend it alone, but despite that, she tries to make the best of it… and that’s exactly what she does. Noelle is so upbeat and a joy to be around. A total sunshine character!
Shep, our grumpy cowboy, lives up on a mountain, and enjoys the company of animals more than people. He’s stuck in his ways, and doesn’t put himself out there anymore, ever since his last failed relationship… That is, until Noelle ends up on his front porch.
Not only was the spice VERY good, the plot was THERE! Very much Hallmark vibes, without the secondhand embarrassment. The characters had depth to them, and it was very easy to fall in love with Noelle and Shep individually, and as a couple. I really loved them together. Opposites attract in every sense of the word, but at the core, they both just want to feel accepted and whole, especially around the holidays!
No third act breakup! Hallelujah! It truly is a Christmas miracle!
🐮Cowboy Romance 🎄Grumpy/sunshine 🐮Age gap (25 & 45) 🎄Snowed in 🐮Only one bed 🎄Toys as teammates 🐮Hallmark after dark 🎄Forced proximity
The first chapter starts and right off the bat you know this is going to be a good one!
Christmas obsessed Noelle flies off to good ol' sunny and warm Arizona for a Christmas getaway only to discover the booking is a scam and she's stranded up in the mountains at a very occupied cabin...home to a grumpy hermit cowboy! Unfortunately for him she refuses to leave seeing as how she is prepared only for the heat of Arizona and instead she is stuck up on the mountain in the middle of a blizzard. As they wait out the blizzard his cold heart of stone slowly thaws and he gets to see her impenetrable cheerful demeanor and her irresistible charm. Of course she makes him lumpy disgusting pancakes and he pretends they are delicious!
From start to finish this book is absolutely charming. Where else do you find a cowboy who is not intimidated by a suitcase jam packed with sex toys?! Plus he donates toys to homeless children on Christmas Eve? Sign me up! This was the perfect story to start my Christmas reading season off.
Now this Christmas book hit! I absolutely loved it. You get age gap, small town romance, grumpy/sunshine vibes, and yes… a cute Highland cow that completely stole my heart. This story made me reflect on life and how, when things don’t go according to plan, you can still turn them into something beautiful.
Shep was such a standout for me with his attention to detail and that quiet, steady kind of love. And Noelle is witty, grounded, and quick on her feet in a way that makes her instantly lovable. I was also so happy it was set in Arizona because that’s where I live, and it made the cozy holiday moments feel even more special.
A charming, heartfelt Christmas read. Definitely add this one to your holiday lineup!
the healthy communication between them?? yes please, this goes on to show the unnecessary drama that can be avoided by communication!! plus, grumpy x sunshine where he isn't rude the whole time, chef's kiss
I absolutely ADORED Dreaming of a Cowboy Christmas! It’s the perfect book to get cozy on the couch with so make sure to have a warm drink on hand and hunker down because you won’t be able to stop reading until you finish the last page. This is especially true if you’re a cowboy romance lover. Shep, while a bit grumpy, is the PERFECT hero. He takes care of Noelle and gives her the holiday she deserves even though it’s not something he’d want to do on any other occasion. I felt like I was watching his gruff exterior melt with her and it gave me all the swoony feelings.
All in all, this was a very easy 5 star read for me. I loved every minute I spent with Noelle and Shep and am now looking forward to getting to know many more of Ann Einerson’s characters because I think I’ll fall in love with them too. Highly recommended!

Noelle thought that she could be able to enjoy some happy, relaxing time in Pine Haven, where she booked a house to stay for a couple of days. But, to her surprise, there wasn't any house which could be booked because she ended up at the doorstep of a grumpy cowboy named Shep. On top of the scam, Noelle finds herself trapped there because of the winter storm which hit the area. What was she going to do now? Thankfully, the grumpy cowboy was kind enough to not let her freeze in the middle of nowhere and invited her into his home. That could be a decision which would change both of their lives, because that closed proximity will stir some heavy feelings inside them and the temptation to give in was way too big for them to handle.
I can say that I had a really, really great time reading this story! How amazing was the tension between Noelle and Shep was shaped!! I liked that it wasn't something rushed and it gave a depth to the characters and story before diving into the spicy parts. It was a slow burn which captivated my attention because of how different they were and how they tried to stay away from one another by bickering about everything they could. It was super cute to see how Noelle melted Shep's frozen heart, how she was able to make him feel like he could love again after a hard breakup.
As always, Ann delivers one of the best Christmas themed books, filled with sweetness and spice. She found the right recipe in this one with mixing up those two sides, being so easy to get lost in the story.🩵

Did i ever mentioned how i love big age gaps? yep i do. add little Maple to the equation, and i was sold. the spice was perfect in the ann style i love so much it was perfect 🤭💕
Hallmark movie + porn = this book. Was it fun to read? Yes! Was it a deep work of literally fiction? No. Kind of reminded me of a deep fried cheese stick. Just a whole bunch of hot, cheesy goodness.
This was the perfect Christmas romance! It had all of my favorite things!

Noelle is a podcaster who rarely takes time off, but decides to book a last minute vacation to spend the holidays in sunny Arizona. But things derail when she arrives and realizes it actually snows in this part of Arizona and she’s been scammed and paid for a place that doesn’t exist. Standing outside freezing with no where to go, she’s confronted by the most grumpiest, rugged cowboy who says she’s trespassing on his property. With no where to go Shep says that Noelle can crash on his couch until the storm passes. Things quickly heat up from their forced proximity.
This story was so good! It was the perfect holiday romance! It was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Noelle was this bright ray of sunshine who was sassy with a big heart. And what pulled at my heart the most was watching Shep’s heart thaw. He had already accepted that life will not give him what he hoped for. A family and love. And we start to see him believe again.
