Halloween Heat

Hellhound's Obsession

Rate this book
She mispronounced his name. Now she's screaming it for eternity.

When mortician Willow Blackthorne mispronounces a Latin name while cleaning antique funeral jewelry, she accidentally summons Bane—the original hellhound who guards death's door, not the three-headed dog from myths.

He immediately recognizes her virgin death-touched scent as his fated mate, his demonic knot already swelling with need as he explains she has thirteen days to accept their bond or he returns to eternal loneliness.

As Willow discovers that being Death's princess means taking Bane's evolved knot in every room of the funeral home (and most of the cemetery), she learns that some mispronunciations are actually mating calls—and some hellhounds are worth becoming immortal for.

She mispronounced his name. Now she’s screaming it for eternity.

When mortician Willow accidentally speaks a cursed name while cleaning a locket, she doesn’t summon a ghost or a demon. She calls Bane, the original hellhound guarding death’s door. Thirteen days to choose him or lose him forever. She’s skeptical, sarcastic, and absolutely not looking to be anyone’s fated anything. Until the veil thins. Until her body aches. Until Bane touches parts of her she didn’t know were starved.

Bane isn’t just strong. He’s ancient, patient, and completely obsessed with the curvy, death-marked woman who calls him forward. Her scent drives him into rut, but what he wants is more than her body. He wants her soul. He gives her time, shows her devotion, and worships every inch of her with reverence and hunger. Their bond isn’t just physical. It’s fate catching fire.

With rivals circling, instincts burning, and power rising between them, Willow must decide whether she’ll claim the hellhound willing to wait, fight, and kneel for her. What starts as raw attraction turns into something deeper, something chosen, something that demands she embrace the dark and step into her power.

Willow grows from a guarded, ghost-whispering mortician into a fierce death priestess who owns every part of who she is. Bane shifts from lonely and primal to soft, steady, and entirely hers. Their connection is explosive, obsessive, and sacred. It is grounded in trust, claimed through heat, and sealed with purpose.

A dark, steamy, fated mates omegaverse with knotting, rut, size kink, breeding heat, and a bond that devours and rebuilds. It’s about finding identity through chaos, surrendering to the one who sees you, and choosing love that refuses to let go.

The Elevator Pitch: A cursed name whispered in a funeral home unleashes an ancient hellhound bound by fate and burning with need. Thirteen days, one death-touched woman, and a bond that turns raw obsession into something darkly sacred. Magic, mating heat, and desire collide in a paranormal romance where claiming and being claimed means everything.

Willow has always been more at ease with the dearly departed than the living. Honestly, when you can chat with ghosts like they’re old friends catching you up on gossip, becoming a mortician is less “career choice” and more “cosmic inevitability.” But the real fun starts when she whispers the name on a mysterious locket and—oops—summons Bane. And while book one gave us Rex the surprise prince, Bane ups the supernatural ante: he’s the original hellhound. As in, the OG usher of souls, older than time, giving her the kind of look that says destiny just slapped him in the face, absolutely convinced Willow is his fated mate before she even finishes saying his name.
“Death clings to you like a perfume…”
“You’re a death speaker.”
“And every death speaker has a guardian. You called yours.”
Apart from the hellhound with a smolder level set to “scorch,” I adored that this book didn’t just copy/paste the first. It’s a little less overtly tongue-in-cheek, but still sprinkled with laugh-out-loud moments. The attempted exorcism scene was pure gold. And Willow’s ghostly entourage creates the kind of chaos that would make any paranormal HR department weep. Bane giving her room to process the whole “congrats, you’re basically Death’s princess now” situation was surprisingly sweet, and Willow, already accustomed to the supernatural, handled it with admirable grace. My one tiny gripe was the ever-shifting countdown to the big bond-consummation moment. “Tonight,” she says with eight days left—cut to: nothing. “Tonight,” she says with six days left—again, nada. Four days left—still crickets. Girl, please. At this point I was ready to send them a calendar invite. But quibble aside, it’s another deliciously steamy fated-mates romance, chock-full of spice, knotting, and enough supernatural heat to keep you toasty all winter.

'My hand fumbles for the embalming fluid sprayer, the only weapon within reach. "Stay back! I'll... I'll spray you!"
He laughs— a sound like distant thunder that reverberates in my chest. "Finally." His voice is gravel and smoke, ancient and amused. "A death speaker has called my true name."'

I loved this book. Another fun hellhound romance. I loved both Willow and Bane. I loved that Willow could see ghosts and was a mortician who ran a funeral home. Reading the Latin inscription on a mourning locket- and mispronouncing a name brought her Bane. Unlike the first book, Bane has thirteen days to win her over. I liked that he was the very first hellhound at the souls' crossing. Their work tied together. I really liked their story. 5 stars

P.S.- I love this cover even more than the first book's!

Just the right fit by MeemsAngel82

Omg, am I still laughing. First off, I was super happy to discover this author. How refreshing! The writing is right to the point and since this was a shorter read it did fit. As did other things, hee hee.

He was summoned and needed to convince her to be his. She was shocked and was skeptical about a few things.

This male knew what to do, where to do things and is a very good judge about getting the right fit. Lol, I'm done. I loved this! This was steamy and humorous and did not lack for pacing. What a concept and while I wish for it to be longer, I had me a good time. And apparently our h did as well...

Spice: 5/5
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Monster Romance
ARC Source: I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
PoV: Dual: Willow and Bane
Thoughts: Hellhound’s Obsession by Piper Kane is another blazing monster romance in the Halloween Heat series. You might recognize some of the same blend of danger, devotion and spice of Heat with the Hellhound but fresh enough to carve out its own identity. It’s such a quick, compact and easy read that it never overstays its welcome, you’ll actually find yourself wishing it was more than just a novella. Hellound’s Obsession takes everything up a notch , more devotion, possessiveness, danger and all-consuming need for each other. If you liked Heat with the Hellhound, then you'll love Hellhound’s Obsession.

Another hellhound is up and Bane's special someone is a woman who has a special connection to the dead. Already. before Bane arrived.

Yup, Willow can see and interact with ghosts. Seeing as how she's a mortician, she's pretty keyed in on all aspects of death. Which makes sense because her death-touched abilities are genetic and this makes her an EXCELLENT match for Bane.

A little danger (until she's claimed by Bane, Willow is fair game for any other creature out there), a whole lot of sex-ay times, a hellhound who has found his other half, and a lady who knows a good male when she meets him. I mean, she's a little freaked out by him appearing, but her reservations don't last long.

Willow works as a mortician. She can also speak to the dead. And when she summons Bane the original hellhound, her perfectly not normal life takes a twist. Bane is her fated mate but if she doesn’t chose him she will lose him. This book is a spice driven paranormal romance that will have you swooning over a hellhound.

This was a short and very steamy story. The pace was quite fast and the plot jumped ahead a bit. I liked the main characters, and Lillith and the ghosts were hilarious.
