She filed the wrong papers. Now she's filled with hellfire.
When curvy bookkeeper Jade Martinez thinks she's doing her eccentric boss's weird filing in the office basement, she accidentally completes an ancient summoning circle, calling forth Lock—a hellhound enforcer who mistakes her for a witch trying to bind him.
But her pure soul and virgin scent trigger his mating instincts so hard he immediately goes into rut, his infernal knot already dripping as he explains she has two submit to him or get dragged to hell anyway.
As Jade discovers that submitting to a hellhound means constant knotting and praise for being such a good little mate, she realizes some accounting errors have incredible benefits—especially when her familiar bloodline means she was literally made to take his knot.
Claimed in magic, marked by instinct, bound in heat.
Jade's just trying to file inventory in a creepy basement when she accidentally completes a summoning circle. What appears is Lock, a massive hellhound demon enforcer deep in rut who thinks she's a witch trying to bind him. One breath of her scent, and he's not dragging her to hell. He's claiming her. Fully, fiercely, forever.
Lock gives her a choice: submit or face punishment. With instincts rising and desire taking hold, Jade decides to stay, and everything changes. What starts with heat and knotting quickly deepens as Lock discovers she's not just human. She's his familiar, his fated mate, born to match his fire.
As they navigate supernatural law, rising tensions, and their own raw connection, Jade finds power in surrender, and Lock learns that devotion can be just as strong as dominance. Their bond becomes sacred, their dynamic intense, and their passion undeniable. Together, they build a life lit by magic, heat, and a bond that can't be broken.
Jade grows from a quiet bookkeeper into a confident familiar who owns her power and pleasure. Lock softens into a fiercely protective partner who values love as much as control. What begins with forced proximity and imbalance transforms into mutual trust, emotional depth, and a connection as consuming as it is real.
A steamy, primal, paranormal hellhound demon-human romance with fated mates, knotting, breeding kink, rut heat, forced proximity, virgin heroine, and an accidental summoning that changes everything. It explores accidental destiny, supernatural bonding, power exchange, mating instincts, and transformation through submission. It’s about instinct meeting identity, surrender becoming strength, and a love that turns chaos into home and claiming into forever.
The Elevator Pitch: A curvy bookkeeper accidentally summons a hellhound demon in the middle of rut and discovers she’s his fated mate. What begins as forced proximity and primal heat transforms into a powerful bond rooted in instinct, surrender, and devotion. It’s a dark, steamy paranormal romance packed with knotting, breeding, and a love that claims hard and never lets go.
Piper takes a darker turn with the third installment of the series. When Jade accidentally completes a summoning circle in her boss’s basement, she doesn’t just stir up trouble, she summons Lock, a massive hellhound enforcer who arrives ready to punish the witch he assumes wants to bind him. But one breath tells him the truth: Jade is no witch. She’s innocent… and she carries the unmistakable scent of familiar blood. Unlike the FMCs before her, Jade isn’t choosing whether or not to accept her supernatural mate. Her choices are far bleaker: submit to Lock or be dragged to hell for judgement. Not exactly a great set of options. Their dynamic kicks off with a heavy D/s charge, all tension and primal command, but the story quickly deepens as Jade uncovers the truth about her familiar nature. She wasn’t just born different; she was born for Lock. He’s her fated mate, the one her body aches for on a visceral, undeniable level. But fate alone isn’t enough. Their bond can only be sealed with true, freely given consent and completed in a claiming ceremony. A ceremony that takes place in front of witnesses with enough heat to scorch the pages. What started as forced proximity and raw, feral chemistry evolves into a bond forged in trust, fierce devotion and surrender. Submitting to the Hellhound is darker, heavier, and hotter than its predecessors, delivering a paranormal romance laced with knotting, breeding, and a love as consuming as it is inevitable. Dark, primal, steamy, Piper definitely turns up the heat in this one. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"You're not a witch." His voice is accusing, like I've personally offended him by not being a witch. Which, what? "I'm a bookkeeper," I squeak, because apparently that's relevant information when faced with a half-naked man who materialized from smoke in my boss's basement. He laughs, dark and rich, and the sound does things to my insides. "You have enough magic to summon a hellhound enforcer from the ninth circle. Do you know what that means, little familiar?... It means," he continues, caging me against the wall with his arms, "that you've illegally summoned a demon enforcer. The punishment for unauthorized summoning is collection... I drag you to hell for judgment... Unless you submit to me willingly." His hand comes up to cup my face, his thumb tracing my bottom lip. The touch is gentle but his expression is anything but. "Serve your purpose as a familiar. Take what you were born to take."
I really enjoyed this book. Another accidental summoning of a sexy hellhound. This was the first time I've heard of a human that could be a familiar to a paranormal being. That was an interesting angle. (I've only read familiars as animal companions to witches). I liked both Lock and Jade. The chemistry between them was scorching.
'He presses his forehead to mine, breathing hard. "A virgin familiar with blood pure enough to summon me. You're either my salvation or my damnation."'
I was only initially confused because the heroine of the first book was also named Jade, but this is a different character (why the same first name?) A fun, quick read. 4 stars
And that's what happens? I guess that's going to be a lucky thing considering! This poor h, I would have been freaking out and even more than her. But she and her male are great, they have a lot of chemistry for such a short book.
She wasn't aware she was summoning anything, she was just there to do a task.
And her world upended. I have to say, I'm not a fan of anyone watching so just check any triggers. This was light hearted and it doesn't hit in that way so not as bad as it could have been. This is a fun book and I have been enjoying this author literally this past week. The book is entertaining and keeps my interest. And though I wish for it to be slightly longer, like more tike for them to know one another, I'll take what I can get. I look forward to more! This was fun!

3.5- Book 3 of the Halloween Heat series. I had a harder time with this storyline, more because Jade was given a basically no choice, and it almost seemed like a slave situation for a bit. As the story progressed, it talked about fated mates and Lock proved that he actually cares and loves her. The latter part of the story was good, but I struggled at the beginning.

Dark, intense, and full of heat. The character dynamic was compelling from start to finish, and the emotional moments grounded the story in a really satisfying way. A strong hellhound romance that delivered exactly what I was hoping for. 💕
Thank you Booksprout for letting me ARC read this book!💕
Doing inventory Jade accidently summons a hellhound. Who informs her she is a magical familiar. It doesn’t take long for them to realize they are made for each other. This other world paranormal romance is a great read and will give you a new outlook on falling for a hellhound.

This was a quick, instalove read, Our MMC is a hellhound and the FMC is familiar without meaning to she summons him and he gives her two options.. go to hell for illegal summing or become his. And he means his in everyway... If your into instalove and Br33ding then this is the one for you.
