An all-new steamy and angsty Ice Hockey Romance from the USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Tracy Lorraine.
Cole Hansley. Hockey god. My new boss.
I told myself I would play it safe this time… no risky shots, no heartbreak rebounds.
But working as a personal chef for the LA Vipers’ star goalie comes with one problem. Well, technically two.
His notorious reputation. And my crush.
He needs someone he can count on. I need someone who won’t break me.
I’ve already lived through being second to a man’s career, and I refuse to do it again.
I don’t want fame. I don’t want the spotlight. I just want peace.
But Cole isn’t peaceful. He’s all walls and warning signs—cold, distant, impossible to figure out. And somehow, I still find myself wanting to slip past his lines of defense and find out what’s underneath the armor.
Will he let me in, or will I get shut out like everything else in his life?
Tracy Lorraine is a M/F and M/M contemporary romance author. Tracy has just turned thirty and lives in a cute Cotswold village in England with her husband, baby girl and lovable but slightly crazy dog. Having always been a bookaholic with her head stuck in her Kindle Tracy decided to try her hand at a story idea she dreamt up and hasn’t looked back since.
There’s nothing wrong with this book and I’m a huge fan of Tracy Lorraine, but the whole chef thing was done in a different hockey series by another author I love and that book was insanely good. It’s hard not to compare and maybe I’ll circle back round to this. But this was too focused for me at the beginning on the food/job part and the issues/conflict with the characters weren’t really my jam.
I so love the LA Vipers series not only because of the guys but the women that came into their lives. And those girls are one of a kind. I was so curious about Cole Hansley the silent and reserved goalie for the Vipers but when Freya was first mentioned in the series I never expected those two to become a couple. Cole is reserved, silent and always on the edge all because of his past . Freya's past experience is making her question everything happening in her life. So Cole's offer is a total surprise and a great opportunity for her to be doing what she loves while working on her dream coming true. Because she wants to became a nutritionist and Cole needs a chef. Those two had a troubled past that left deep emotional scars and is shadowing their lives. Cole is questioning everything in his life and craves stability. Freya is overthinking everything and she wants to be chosen for herself. And meeting around the kitchen counter and bonding over the food she prepared for him became the beginning of a friendship. Slowly they get to know each other and the walls around them crumble down . And they share their greatest fears and secrets. And I admired both of them for waiting the other one to tell their story because they both were burned by the press. Freya made Cole see that he already had what he wanted the most and just added to it . And he gave her what she needed the most his trust and acceptance. They both were themselves around each other. I loved how they shared some of their favorite things to do. Those walks and volunteering at the shelter was so precious. But that visit to the animal shelter and giving Freya her dream dogs was priceless. That slow burn was so bittersweet and the chemistry between them was of the charts and they were steaming hot. Wow . Cole was so sweet and swoony and then his dirty talking was on another level. Freya finding herself was such an experience but seeing her getting back her confidence was so good. And I loved it when her past made an appearance she didn't answer that call. Hers and Cole's indifference and silent treatment were the best response. And when they overcome this they were unstoppable and welcomed all the good things that came into their lives. Those two loved each other unconditionally and were there for each other. Wasn't surprised at all that Cole helped Freya have her dream dogs. The last few chapters were so good and I loved how Cole included their dogs in everything important to them. That epilogue was such a sweet glimpse in their future. And I'm so happy that there will be more books in the LA Vipers series and after that sneak peak I can't wait for Rett's story.
Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.
Tracy Lorraine, everything you write is PURE GOLD! Scoring The Pucking Goal is book 3 in the LA Vipers series and it was sooo good. Every book in this series has been 5 stars so good! If you love a broody, gorgeous, hockey god goalie and a sweet, kind, totally opposite chef with such a hot and slow burn and amazing found family, go read this book!
Our two characters BOTH have been through so much tragic trauma. They both have huge fears and struggles. Opening up, especially to love, feels impossible to them both. Cole is the gorgeous and broody goalie. Always closed off, keeps to himself, he has been hurt deeply and never truly loved. Enter Freya. This girl, I felt her so much. I, like her, have dealt with HUGE confidence issues, always hanging your head and ALWAYS apologizing, this girl has been hurt badly. She is an AMAZING cook. And Cole needs one. And what builds is this beautiful story over food, her coming to his home to cook for him and slowly their walls start coming down. He just wants to know he can be loved and not left, she just wants someone to love her fully, unconditionally and not break her ever again. OMG, Tracy weaves these stories so freaking good! She builds this raw, real and beautiful friendship with these two that slowly builds in this angst and slow-burn that grows hotter and hotter until pure fire. This man’s dirty mouth, yes please!
And one of the best things about this series is the found family. All these characters bring so much fun and love to this series!
I just felt this one so deep. I laughed, I cried, I felt their pain and felt their healing. The emotions these two brought was everything! RAW, REAL and absolutely PERFECT!!!! Go read this book please! And book 4, oooooo bad boy Rhett is coming and I am all in for him!!!

🖤THANK YOU Tracy Lorraine and Deviant Hearts PR for my ARC!
If I thought Lincoln Storm was the king of slow burn, boy was I wrong. Cole Hansley is here to steal Lincoln's crown, and probably the biggest difference between these two hotties is Cole is best book boyfriend material from page one. 😍
There was so much chemistry brewing in the kitchen between Freya Price, the chef, and Cole Hansley, the goalie. They have a sloooooow burn romance in this new LA Vipers book and❤️🔥their slow burning desire grew under a well lit flame of a flushed out plot, and the most delicious, toe-curling, golden retriever Lorraine has ever penned. Cole is one leading man with ALL the green flags, even with his elusive past. He's caring, sweet, and supportive of Freya from the get-go. He was a delight to get to know, right along with Freya and his teammates. That's right...Cole isn't exactly open with anyone, but it's just his nature to keep things close to his chest. He's not mean, just really, really good at ducking and dodging, then rerouting questions that don't involve him or his personal life. This entire aspect of his personality just made him extra likable the more he opened up to Freya. Like I already said, he's one of my favorite MC's that I've read of Tracy's yet.
Both Freya and Cole have past trauma, but what I loved about this book is that they both made sure, because of their emotional damage, there was an understanding and check-ins before diving head first into something that neither of them were ready for. It was probably the most mature and consensual book of fiction I've ever read, while still bringing the heat and passion right along with the responsibility. Freya had a lot of emotional scars from her last relationship and Cole respected her mental boundaries. She wasn't alone in regards to building walls and the potential damage it can do. Like I already said, Cole was impressive with evading his past, but their communication was strong and emotionally mature.
As for the rest of the characters, they were all well developed and flushed out, with strong character arcs already in the making for future stories. I'm already falling in love with so many of the Vipers and can hardly wait for upcoming books on so many of the team members. 😉
Ending 2025 with one of my favorite series. Scoring The Pucking Goal has definitely become one of my favorites reads this year. Freya and Cole story will have you wanting more of this phenomenal series.
Freya Price is back in her old town, living with her parents, and starting over. She really doesnt know what she wants to do with her life. But one thing she does best is cooking and baking. Enter Cole Hansley goalie to the LA Vipers. He doesn’t cook, when Freya cooks at a gathering he makes her an offer she can’t refuse, to become his personal chef. This is her shot to prove to herself that she can actually do it.
Freya and Cole both have trauma in their life. Freya from a controlling relationship and Cole stems from his childhood. You’ll see how they both open up to one another. Cole has a way to bring Freya back to her old self. Cole doesn’t let many people in. He lets her see a side of him others don’t. You’ll see their relationship gradually develop from friendship to something more. The trust they both give and get is hard for one another. But when they both recieved it, its beautifully too see how much they care for one another. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. I love how patient Cole is with Freya and how much he really care for her. And when Freya lets him in, it’s special to see how much they’ve grown.
This story had it all, the slow burn, hockey, found family and most of all love. I love all the characters in this series. And the more I see of others I can’t wait to see how their own story will be told. But these groups of friendships/family is always amazing to see. I just love Freya’s friend groups of ladies and Cole’s friendships as well with his teammates.
I loved Scoring the Pucking Goal far more than I expected—and that’s saying something.
This book is packed with tension that simmers instead of rushing, heat that feels intimate rather than overdone, and emotional depth that genuinely pulled at my heart. The trauma is written with care, and the romance unfolds in a way that feels natural, earned, and deeply satisfying.
Cole Hansley is an incredible MMC—protective, guarded, and quietly emotional in a way that completely won me over. He didn’t just make me swoon; he made me feel. Easily one of my top five book boyfriends now.
Five stars. This is my favorite installment in the LA Vipers series, and I can’t wait to reread it.
This is the third book in this amazing series, and this is Cole and Freya’s story. Cole is the star goalie for the LA Vipers, and he hires Freya to become his personal chef. Cole is reserved, and questions everything in life, while craving stability, while Freya is an overthinker, who just wants to be chosen for herself. This is a well written easy to read, slow burn, with family, friendships, emotions, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, hidden past, secret trauma, trust, acceptance, engaging and realistic characters, touch her and die vibes, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, hockey romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Thank you Tracy Lorraine and Deviant Hearts PR for my ARC! Scoring The Pucking Goal is book 3 in the LA Vipers series. It is a slow burn with an opposite attract, hidden/secret trauma background etc.
Cole is the gorgeous and broody goalie. He’s always been closed off & keeps to himself. He was deeply hurt before and hasn’t opened up. Freya has also been hurt in the past relationship. She just wants to know she can be loved. She’s a cook and cooks for the goalie 🥅 :)
Whew! Freya and Cole are a sweet and delicious, yet angsty slow burn. They've both been so deeply hurt in their pasts, and have both closed themselves off to any attachments. However, their attraction to each other is immediate when Cole hires Freya to be his personal chef. There's such big, big feelings from both Cole and Freya, and I loved how honest they with each other as the pair helped each other feel all feels from their pasts. The slow burn and angst is real with these two, but it is so very worth it!
"There are no buts here, Whirlwind. Whatever it is, We're in this together. I don't need to know to stand and fight with you."
The third book in this series and although it's not a must, I recommend reading the previous two books!
This is where we get up close with Cole, the hot goalie who isn't one for letting people in and yet there's something about Freya that has him opening his home to her as she becomes his personal chef. Freya is a girl who needs some self confidence and a hug! She's not long split from her rockstar boyfriend and has had to come home to her parents house to stay. Cooking brings her peace and soon brings her Cole
It's a slow burn romance of two people who so need and deserve each other, they're good people 💙💙
Love this team and all their pairing up! Each story has been a real treat. Cole and Freya are something else. Freya is so cute with how nervous she is (and with good reason). Cole you can’t help but fall for bc he’s such a sweetheart. Freya’s dad is so cute with his man crush on Cole. I don’t think there’s anything I didn’t like about this book.
This story offers a great mix of slow-burn tension, solid character development, and just enough hockey to enhance the romance without overpowering it. And that ending? I’m already counting down for Rett’s story.
Highly recommend for fans of hockey romance, strong heroines, and emotionally charged love stories.
Both Freya and Cole had me wanting to know more about their backstories and I really adore them both now. They both have had challenges albeit very different but are so great together. This is a slow burn with plenty of emotions, some humour and eventually great heat. Good read.
This book was epically fun, and seriously addictive! It had the perfect mix of hockey, tension, and sizzling chemistry. The banter between the characters kept me hooked, and the romance was packed with emotion and spice. Tracy Lorraine delivered another entertaining, steamy read that I couldn’t put down. Definitely a five-star, binge-worthy romance! 🔥🏒💙
Awww I adore Cole and Freya. Things were definitely heating up in the kitchen and I’m not mad about it. I loved their story and could feel their chemistry oozing off the pages. Tracy never disappoints!!
I loved it so much the complexity of the characters and how much they love and care about each other. I prefer this one to the second book. I’ve just really connected with the characters and I really loved it. I can’t wait for book 4 😘
This was a good read. Two heart broken souls find eachother and heal their hearts. Cole makes you pull the heart strings in this book. I'm excited to see what will happen in Rett's book which is next since he's such a hot head I'm curious to see where his books leads. I'm also patiently waiting for the Rookie Monroe to get his book. I'm curious who's the person he secretly interested in. my suspicion is their PR person Hailee.

Review 📖 Scoring the Pucking Goal LA Vipers Book 3 Written by Tracy Lorraine
I knew since book two that these two would also steal my heart. I couldn't wait for these two to build a strong friendship and in return also help each other with past traumas. They both don't just let anyone into their lives so the fact they both felt comfortable enough to do so shows that there could be so much more between them. This is proved time and time again when they both can't stop thinking about each other even after the first interaction.
I can't get enough of them sharing sides of each other that no one else has ever seen. The trust between them is strong but also the chemistry between them is also developing. The emotional rollercoaster these two took me on my goodness, what a wild ride.
Another great book in this series. This book is a slow burn between Cole and Freya. I loved the dynamics between Cole and Freya. They both help heal each other from their pasts.
I love this world and have to say that I’m so excited to see what’s next.
Grumpy X sunshine, he falls first, broken boy hockey romance with found family
4.25⭐️ 2.5🌶️ ARC REVIEW: SCORING THE PUCKING GOAL by Tracy Lorraine. This is a slow burn done right. 🫶🏻 This is book 3 in the LA Vipers hockey 🏒 series. Tracy knows how to write slow-burn tension with solid character development and delicious spice. 👏🏻 It’s a bit lengthy but trust me - the payoff is worth it in the end. 🤌🏻 If you’re looking for a hockey romance with a grumpy broken boy that’s soft only for her, he’s obsessed/falls first vibes, found family, and an FMC getting back her groove, then you will love this.
Freya Price just got hired as a personal chef 👩🏻🍳 for Cole Hansley, the broody goalie for the LA Vipers. He calls her ‘Whirlwind’ - she comes into his life like a whirlwind, she overthinks everything, and blurts out whatever she’s thinking (which he finds endearing). He likes peace and quiet, likes his own company (which Freya thinks is lonely), doesn’t give girls his number, and no girl has ever been in his apartment except for Freya but he’s softer and more approachable with Freya. Going from foster home to foster home, he’s guarded and cynical because he’s been burned and thinks everyone always leaves. 😢 He keeps people at arm’s length/on the periphery (even his teammates) because it’s safer. My heart just aches for him as a lost little boy without a home and family. He’s never had anyone come to his games 🥺 but Freya tells him she will come to every home game and he will have ‘family’ there. 💚
She’s self-conscious since her last painful breakup/heartbreak - she wants to be like the old Freya - strong and independent. While she’s attracted to him, she’s trying to gain back some confidence (which this job is helping her to do) and she wants to maintain professional boundaries. He’s never been on a date/no serious relationship (just casual hookups), and he usually likes to go home alone after hockey practice but now finds himself happy to see Freya and eat meals with her. He doesn’t confide in anyone about his childhood but he slowly starts trusting Freya and telling her that he didn’t have parents or a family like her growing up, and that nobody has ever loved him. He’s terrified of being abandoned because he’s not enough. Yet still he’s a good guy, a gentleman (always insists on opening her car door), and when they do give into their attraction, he doesn’t push or rush her, and he lets her set the pace.
❤️ His teammates’ nickname for him is Handsy ❤️ gray sweatpants 🚨 and backwards hat 🧢 ❤️ The slow-burn tension…the touches, grazes, his hand on the small of her back, his hand on her thigh in the car 🤌🏻 ❤️ Jersey moment 🫶🏻 ❤️ Slow burn but when the spice hits…dang. All at once we get: he talks 😮💨 her through it, ‘good girl’, ‘eyes on me’ 👀, he 💦 in his pants 👖, licks his fingers clean 👅, kitchen fun 🐱
Favorite quotes: “For the first time, possibly ever, I want to tell you. I want you to know me. The real me. All the ugly bits that make me the person I am today." "There's nothing ugly about you," I assure him.
‘Freya is too good for the likes of me. To the world, I might put on a good show, but underneath it all, I'm just a lost, broken, lonely little boy desperate to find love.’
“I wanted to make my girl breakfast. I can rest later." "Your girl?" "Uh...I'd like you to be, if that's okay with you." How is this giant of a man so freaking soft and cute?
"I know you're looking.” "You're wearing gray sweatpants. Of course I'm looking."
"Knowing that you're watching me while wearing my name across your shoulders like you own me does things to me." "Like I own you? I'm pretty sure most players see it the other way around.” "I'm not most players. No matter what happens here, I'll never own you. You're your own woman who is free to do as you please. Me, however? I'm yours. Pretty sure I have been for weeks now."
"Thank you, Freya. Thank you for taking a chance on me. Thank you for being there, for supporting me, for becoming my family." 🥹

Next up is book 4 - Faking the Pucking Shot - Rett’s story
Thank you to Tracy Lorraine and Deviant Hearts PR for the chance to read this early.
Freya Price is about to start working for the man everyone knows in the world of hockey as Handsy. Yet, nobody knows much of anything about the man’s personal life. They do know one thing he can’t keep a Chef if his life depends on it. His standards are tough and he is picky. But when Freya started hanging around their little family, he, who didn’t believe in it, fell in love instantly. You see, nobody knows it, but Cole Hansley is the lost, abandoned boy still, that nobody wanted, still inside it, just that no one knows his story but him.
The only family he has is his hockey family. Otherwise, he is totally alone. And at this time in her life that is exactly how Freya feels. When she was dumped by her ex Rowen, the well-known rock singer with whom she had just traveled the world tour for two years, before he dumped her via his assistant. She came back with her ego battered and bruised. More unsure of herself than anyone should ever have to feel about themselves. However, she found cooking was her passion and her love language to show people she cared.
So she found herself cooking for her family on the regular since she was staying with her parents. She lived next door to Coach Watson for the LA Vipers. She used to babysit for the coach and later became friends with Casey his daughter. So when they were having a teaming BBQ at the coaches; she cooked a feast to bring over. It wasn’t the first time and once again the team loved it all. Cole approached Freya and asked if she would be interested in becoming his personal chef.
It made her nervous because she had no professional experience. She told him that. He said she loved everything she had cooked every time she had cooked for their functions. He showed what he was willing to pay and what meals he needed, and she would still have time for schooling if she still felt she needed it. Her eyes bugged out at what the salary was. She told him it was too much. She met with him the following Monday. But not before she asked all the right questions about allergies, food needs such as diet restrictions, and calorie intake to maintain.
Will he need energy snacks? He asked her to stay and cook that day and to stay for dinner. They talked and got to know one another. He realized how much he would like having her around. She realized he was nothing like her ex. They were at the precipice of something wonderful they just didn’t know it yet. But as they grow as people they come to realize their past doesn’t dictate their future. There are bumps along the way, but it only brings them closer together not only in friendship but in finding a love for one another.
Although calling it by that word scares them. Her because she got burned by the last guy she was with and him because he has never felt love in his life from a single soul or given it. Such a good read. To see the growth of their person and for each other was just heartwarming. You will want to read this for sure. Can’t wait for Rett’s book. I thought maybe Hailee and him, but I guess not. Goodness, that guy.
Scoring the Pucking Goal is hands-down my favorite book in the LA Vipers series so far.
Cole Hansley has lived his entire life with his guard up. Abandoned, hurt, and never truly loved, he’s convinced himself that relationships are a losing game. He survives by keeping people out and emotions locked down, until Freya Price walks into his life and quietly turns everything he believes about himself upside down.
Freya is broken too. After a controlling relationship that stripped away her confidence and sense of self, she’s terrified of losing herself again. She doesn’t want fame or attention, she just wants peace, safety, and the chance to rebuild at her own pace. Watching her slowly find her footing again, through cooking, friendship, and trust, was incredibly emotional and relatable.
Tracy Lorraine is the queen of slow burn, and this one was paced perfectly. It was never a question of if Cole and Freya would get together, but when, and the wait made everything so much sweeter. Cole calling her Whirlwind fits her so well, because she disrupts his carefully controlled life in the best possible way. There’s a lightness to Freya that Cole didn’t even realize he was missing.
What truly made this story stand out for me was the emotional maturity. Both characters carry heavy trauma, and instead of rushing into anything, there are conversations, check-ins, and mutual respect. Cole is endlessly patient, protective, and reassuring, constantly reminding Freya that everything can go at her pace. He is a walking green flag and easily one of my favorite MMCs Tracy Lorraine has written.
Add in incredible found family vibes with the LA Vipers, a beautifully built friendship that turns into something deeper, and just the right amount of heat once the slow burn ignites, and this book absolutely delivered. I laughed, I cried, I felt their pain, and I felt their healing.
Tracy Lorraine, you truly don’t miss. This story was raw, real, swoony, and deeply satisfying—and I am beyond ready for Rhett’s book next.

Scoring The Pucking Goal ( LA Vipers Series Book 3 ) Tropes 🏒sports / hockey romance 😠 Grumpy / ☀️sunshine, 🔥slow burn / second chances and all the feels !!’ There are some books out there that just resonate with you and touch your heart ❤️ in a way that’s not so easy to put into words. In a way that rarely ever happens. Well I can say with 100% certainty that every time I pick up one of Tracy’s romances , it doesn’t matter if it’s part of a series or not . That’s exactly what happens .Scoring The Pucking Goal may be book 3 in the LA Vipers Series - but it’s no different, in fact it’s just spectacular, it’s utterly addicting and beautiful and emotional to the point I can guarantee it Will pull on all your heartstrings in ways you’ll never ever be expecting Cole and Freya - this is their journey and let me just say it’s not an easy one . It’s filled with love and passion and pain and friendships and second chances. There are times it will literally break your heart and others were you’ll be smiling and laughing and rooting these two on so freaking hard . And to make it even better than it already is, it just so happens to be the perfect blend of so many of my all time favorite tropes . These two really had my heart , they really did . Both such likable and relatable characters, both dealing with their own struggles and demons . For Freya it’s self confidence , recovering from a controlling relationship and trying to figure out what her future looks like . For Cole it’s the traumatic events from his past and childhood that has taken a emotional toll on his entire life , on his ability to open up , to trust and to let people close . I adored the progression of their relationship, how it started off slow , how they formed a friendship and then the way that turned into so much more . Add into all that the angst and the humor and the witty banter, the off the charts chemistry, the family and friendships. This book and this whole series really is pure perfection- chefs kiss 💋 and a absolute must read for everyone
Freya is still trying to recover from a broken heart but her amazing new job is just the thing she needs to jumpstart her new plan. Cooking makes her happy and handling the personalized diet of the Vipers star tendy, Cole Hansley, is a dream come true for the aspiring chef. Freya is anxious and a tad high-strung but Cole is a big teddy bear who goes out of his way to put her at ease. They quickly become friends but her feelings for her new boss are starting to concern Freya. After all, she can’t fall for her boss.
Cole has always been a loner, initially not by choice but now it’s just habit. He had no idea that he was lonely until Freya came into his life. It’s not long into their blossoming friendship when he becomes obsessed, pulling her into every aspect of his formerly solitary life.
I’ve loved each book in this series more than the last and Freya and Cole’s story is no exception. They’re both so sweet and vulnerable and adorable together. I loved everything about their story and couldn’t put this one down. Now I’m just trying to figure out who’s next: Rhett, Monroe or Killer?
My review ✧──────✧ by Tracy Lorraine Scoring the Pucking Goal
What to Expect:
Workplace Romance Grumpy/Sunshine He Falls First Sports Romance Hurt /Comfort Found Family Celebrity Romance Forced Proximity
This was an absolutely fantastic read. Tracy Lorraine delivers a well-crafted story with strong character development and emotional depth that kept me fully engaged from beginning to end. The author does an excellent job of drawing readers into the characters’ journeys, allowing us to understand not only who they are, but what they are going through on a deeper level.
I especially appreciated how naturally the characters’ relationship developed. Watching their individual growth and the way their lives slowly intertwined added a meaningful layer to the story. The pacing was solid, the plot well thought out, and the emotional tension balanced perfectly with the steamy romance.
Without giving away any spoilers, this book offers everything a reader could want—compelling characters, strong chemistry, and a storyline that keeps you invested and eager to turn the pages. If you enjoy character-driven romance with heat, heart, and an engaging plot, this book is definitely worth picking up.
I’m very much looking forward to continuing the LA Vipers series and seeing what comes next.
Tracy has done it again. I am absolutely loving this series. This is the third book and it is our favorite tendy and chef’s story. Cole is the hottest and best goaltender in the league and play for the LA Vipers and Freya is a chef who really needs a job. Cole hires her as his professional chef and that’s when sparks start to fly. This is a slow burn, and you see the way these two try to keep it employer/employee. You can see the connection these two have and I love how protective Cole is towards Freya. Both don’t have the greatest pasts. Cole didn’t have a great childhood and anyone he’s ever cared about leaves, so he has a wall built around his heart and is very closed off and private about his life. That is why letting Freya into his home is big for him. Freya got out of a relationship that wasn’t great at all. He kept her I. The shadows and then dropped her. She is healing and learning to trust once again. It is hard for her. These two are perfect for each other. I was completely hooked on this story. There was drama, angst, sizzling attraction, twists, revelations, and opening the heart. Two halves to one coin is Cole and Freya. I highly recommend reading this and to get the full experience, start at the beginning of the series. I can’t wait to see what happens with the Vipers biggest man****e.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Cole and Freya. Cole is a professional hockey goalie who hires Freya as his personal chef. Freya, coming out of a long-term relationship, carries a lot of insecurities with her and constantly doubts herself. She isn’t even a professionally trained chef, but Cole knows that from the beginning and still wants her there anyway, which I really liked. One of the things I liked most about Cole was how patient and supportive he was with Freya. He gave her so much reassurance and created a safe environment where she could slowly regain confidence in herself. Their relationship felt comforting and mature in many ways, and I really enjoyed watching their connection grow naturally over time. However, after a while, the story started to drag for me. The book definitely could have been shorter because, despite the steady character development, not that much actually happened throughout the plot. I liked the emotional progression between them, but for the length of the book, I kept waiting for something bigger to happen or for the story to build toward a stronger payoff. And because of that, the ending also felt somewhat incomplete to me. For such a long book, I was missing a more satisfying and fully developed conclusion that truly wrapped everything up emotionally.
