Every Little Thing

Rate this book
Russ Wescott wants his ex-wife and his old life back.

Remarried, with a new baby, Jorie Macaslan lives a comfortable life. Her ex-husband makes her crazy, and unfortunately, he seems to be around as often now as he did when they were married.

When Russ and Jorie’s eighteen-year-old son, Cody, announces that his not-girlfriend is pregnant, Russ and Jorie find themselves thrown together in a new family crisis. Cody insists that Steph is just a friend, that both of them want to give the baby up for adoption, and that he’s most definitely not in love with Steph.

Jorie is worried that one day Cody and Steph will regret their decision. Then again, she doesn’t want Cody to be tied down with a baby when he should be starting college next fall. After all, she and Russ got married young because she was pregnant with Cody, and look how they turned out.

Russ is worried that Jorie is too much in love with her new husband and too involved in her new life to ever consider forgiving him for his one transgression that hurt her so badly.

Will Cody and Steph decide to keep their baby, or will they decide on adoption? Can Russ make Jorie believe he’s still as in love with her now as the day they were married?

Sometimes every little thing about a person can be kind, sweet, and endearing. But sometimes, every little thing piled on top of all those other little things can bury a person in an emotional avalanche…
Jorie has her hands full managing the house, a job, and her four sons. She has an infant with her new husband, a child with Asperger’s, and a teenager that seems to thrive on disobeying her, not to mention an ex-husband that keeps showing up on her doorstep. But when Jorie’s oldest son—the one that’s easy and steady and never causes any problems—announces he’s gotten a girl pregnant, things fall apart for Jorie.
I immediately connected with the character Russ, Jorie’s ex-husband. He wants to remain involved in his three boy’s lives but is at odds with exactly how to make that happen. There’s something about him that I really liked. It was probably the fact that sweet and caring Russ couldn’t seem to contain his love for his ex-wife, regardless of how inappropriate his feelings were. After all, Jorie is married to someone else. But unlike Russ, the new hubby, Finn, is rarely around to support Jorie as every little thing heaps down on her.
Tracy Broemmer weaves a delightful story filled with relatable emotions that easily draws the reader in. I think the story resonates, because Jorie’s struggles are many of the same struggles women face today. The search for balance between her own needs and those of her family. The desire to be valued as an employee, as a wife, as a mother, and as a friend. And the need to insulate her children from the harsh realities of life, and the realization that, no matter how hard she tries, she can’t always protect them.
Every Little Thing (Book 1 in the Lorelei Bluffs series) by Tracy Broemmer is a great standalone book and perfectly sets the stage for the next book in the series—2 a.m.—without leaving us at a cliffhanger. Although, I’ll admit that I can’t wait to read Auden’s story.

All I got to say is wow this book will make you feel a whole lot of different feelings throughout the story. Tracy Broemmer did a great job on this book. I actually felt like I was back in Lorelai Bluffs, Illinois with these amazing characters. This book is so filled with the drama of every day life. I wondered at what life threw at the characters, cried with them, was upset with and for them, I rallied for their happiness, yelled at them for some of the decisions that they made, and thoroughly was caught up in their lives.

I liked how the title Every Little Thing ended up in some of the chapters. I thought that was cool as we use the phrase "every little thing" as things crosses our paths in daily life. Mrs. Broemmer is an amazing author and this book is really good. If anyone asks for a recommendation I would probably give it to them. That is if they are looking for a book about somewhat day-to-day life book.

I will give this book five butterflies because it is that good and I think it deserves it.
