There was just something about this book that really drew me in and I couldn't stop looking at this gorgeous front cover image and wondering what on earth this title was.
Now, I'm not going to lie when I say that this book did scare me a little when I spotted that it was a chunky one.
At around 500 pages, this is definitely a book that I'd normally shy away from - but I was just so intrigued that I pretty easily succumbed - and how glad I was too!
This was such a wonderful story of love through the ages, love that spans lifetimes and love that was written in destiny.
I loved that this is written over a dual timeline so I didn't ever feel too bogged down by the historical elements of this fantasy.
Plus I was already completely smitten by the characters and just so immersed in their story that I just flew through this.
Setting this in a modern day London meant that we instantly connected with the main characters and the intensity of their interactions and Ellie's dreams and memories.
This was so beautifully written that I was just swept along.
The time jumps flowed perfectly and the different storylines wove around each other making this easy to follow and grasp the concept easily.
This book does form the first book in the Thread trilogy and I'm completely hooked.
After worrying about it's size at the start, I reached the end, wishing for even more and I cannot wait to see how the story continues into book 2.
This novel presents a well-executed dual-timeline structure that moves between 19th-century Greece and modern-day London. The historical storyline, centered on Sophia and Orpheas, is particularly compelling, with a strong emotional core and well-developed character dynamics. Their relationship feels genuine and deeply rooted in the period, adding richness to the narrative.
The contemporary storyline involving Ellie and Alex mirrors the themes of connection, destiny, and generational influence. The parallels between the two timelines are thoughtfully crafted, creating a sense of cohesion that enhances the reading experience.
The romantic elements are handled with care, and the intimate scenes serve as extensions of the characters’ emotional journeys rather than distractions from the plot. Readers who appreciate romance driven by character growth and emotional depth will find these aspects well integrated.
While the novel maintains an engaging pace, some transitions between the two timelines could be smoother to ensure an even flow. Additionally, certain historical details and character motivations may benefit from further development to strengthen the overall narrative foundation.
As the first installment in a new series, this book establishes an intriguing premise with strong character relationships and thematic continuity. It offers a promising start, and readers will likely look forward to the continuation of the series. It also makes Fifty Shades of Gray look average. A huge well done to Vicky!
Ellie is 19 years old with her whole life in front of her and Alex is her tutor. But Ellie and Alex have met before in the past. This is Ellie and Alex’s story spanning several lifetimes.
When this book arrived I was taken aback as to how chunky it was. It is just under 500 pages and I was a little intimidated. But that quickly melted away as soon as I started to read. This was an easy read and one that I read in one sitting. The story was so captivating I found myself turning one page after another as I wanted to find out more.
The storyline included a historical romance and a modern day romance. The main theme of the story was soul mates and an unending love that spans generations. I really enjoyed the writing style. It was descriptive, immersive and easy to follow. I found myself transported to Ellie and Alex’s life in the present day and then to Sophia and Orpheus’ life in 19th century Greece.
When the story starts we are introduced to Ellie and her tutor Alex. There's definitely a pull and attraction between them. But that attraction isn't fleeting, it’s something old and established. It's like every time they see each other their souls call to each other because they recognise each other from another life. The reader is then transported to the past where we meet Sophia and Orpheus. Their journey and relationship was an interesting one. It was intense and filled with passion. Their first meeting was certainly memorable because Alex is someone who always gets what he wants and Sophia is someone who is completely unattainable by her own choice. When they connect it was like a fireworks display. Sophia and Orpheus are what I would describe as a power couple. They are equals in every sense. Orpheus’ family business is in shipping but it’s Sophia’s business acumen that changes his fortunes. She makes his business a success and this is recognised not only by Orpheus and his family but also those in the shipping community.
When I turned the last page I felt a little sad to say goodbye to the characters. This is only the first part of Ellie and Alex and Sophia and Orpheus’ story and I feel like there’s so much more to come.
This is the first book in The Thread Trilogy and I can’t wait to read the next instalment.
With a lyrical writing style, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐲 tells a love story that spans through lifetimes. A very unique tale I had the best time immersing myself into while slowly falling in love with the characters. I couldn't stop reading this enchanting romance, and I already cannot wait for the next book in this new trilogy!
It was a deeply meaningful read, I loved that it had dual timelines from contemporary university life in London to 19th century Greece. The magnetic connection between the main characters were unforgettable.
I highly recommend reading this beautiful novel to everyone!
Thank you so much @hyggebooktours and the author for letting me read and review this wonderful debut novel in exchange for my honest review!
I enjoyed this book so much. It is so different than what I would normally read, but I am glad I took a chance on it because it did not disappoint. The whole book was written beautifully, and is easily read. One thing I liked about this is its dual timelines and following the love stories between two sets of characters. And the spice and romance just blended beautifully and enhanced this story.
