My name is Sheryl Ilene Newcomb. And yes, my initials are S.I.N. A funny little piece of whimsical humor my parents found amusing when I arrived.

Then, it turned out to be true. Looking back with wiser eyes now, my family and I concluded that the events leading up to my transformation started the summer I turned nine. But the day we realized there was a problem, and no turning back, was a week before I started my senior year at Junction City High. The day the fangs and claws appeared and the monster inside of me emerged.

When mutilated corpses appeared near a pile of brush down by Caney Creek, everything changed. Because evil woke up and growled, its ominous rumblings heard by every living thing in Locasia County, Mississippi.

I saw the cover and knew this was a book I would have to get my hands on. I mean, those eyes, they ‘speak’ to me. The font drips and oozes badness into the murky water of the swamp. I have an idea of what lies between the pages and I am very eager to begin reading. I can hardly wait to get all the gory details. The story got my attention from the beginning and held me captive until the end.

S.I.N was an appropriate name for her. Sheryl Ilena Newcomb had been a cheerleader and flaunted her sexuality. It was an era of love and she and her peers gave and received it freely. She did the normal things teenage girls do, worked, studied, played and fell in love. She’d had only one boyfriend and their dream was to escape the small town they grew up in.

But that was not to be.

It had begun when she was nine years old and she never could have imagined what the future held for her.

Three months later and the memories were fading. They are taken their toll, both mentally and psychically. She was learning to live with her inner monster. The ordeal had left her physically damaged, she had lost an eye and the physical scars would never disappear. She learned to compensate for its loss. The family had hid all evidence of the event at Caney Creek in a small town called Junction City,Mississippi.

Now, she is the guardian, the protector. It is her job to pass on the knowledge to the next one. She writes it all down, hoping it will be a panacea, so she can rebuild her life, her life in Junction City, Mississippi.

Ashley’s writing is outstanding. I was able to feel the little girls terror as she lay in bed, alone, the monster determined to take her, and only her cat, Tinker, to save her. I can smell the competing smells at the wake. It reminds me of fairs and carnivals, where there are so many overwhelming smells, even when I am starving, I find it hard to eat anything. I hear the generations of Kovlin women, all talking at the same time, competing against each other to be heard.

I love the story and the twists Ashley puts in. I did not see the biggest surprise of all coming and Ashley gave me a good one near the end. I had my thoughts, but I didn’t take them as far as Ashley did.

I love the Native American reference to their belief in tokens, animal guardians. The mixture of mysticism, religion and the paranormal are just the right blend to make this a novel a huge success. I would highly recommend Growl by Ashley Fontainne.

This is not just S.I.N.’s story, but mankind’s.

I received this book in return for an honest and unbiased review.

“Growl” by Ashley Fontainne is not what you might expect.  Every time I think I know where Ashley is going with a story, she manages to completely stun and amaze me.  “Growl” will do the same for you.  With a protagonist whose initials spell the unlikely monogram S.I.N., you just know things are going to go from bad to worse.  But no matter how many dark paths Ashley leads you down, there is always soul-lifting redemption along the way.

Sheryl Ilene Newcomb is your average girl next door, in love with her boyfriend and surrounded by wonderful small-town people she grew up with.  But is she?  Is anything what it seems in this story?  I absolutely flew through this book in my eagerness to see what happens next.  The characters will steal your heart, the plot will thrill you and the ending will astound you.

OK, the last 2 books I've read by this author, I loved, and this is no different!!! Such an intriguing and gripping read.

Right from the start Ashley Fontainne grips you and doesn't let go. She has a way with story telling that will immediately grab your attention. I love how she can create a world and atmosphere that pull you in. She tells the story with so many twists and turns that you never know where it's going to end!!

In Growl, Sin is a normal child, until the time she turns 9. Her life is changed totally and utterly but not in a good way. Sin was such an awesome character. She was confidant, brave and with a depth to her that was fantastic. She isn't what she seems and I loved finding out about her.

Plot wise, this was extremely fast paced and well written. I loved the lore and the history that is revealed during the story. It was fascinating and captivating and I have always loved Native American lore and this is steeped in it. Ashley did an amazing with the plot because at first I was thinking werewolves but it's not. It's so much more!!

Anyway, this was such a fantastic read and this author is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. She doesn't just tell a story, she weaves the tale in such a way that you feel like you are part of it. I was biting my nails during this and was on edge the whole time.

Now, what can I say about Andrea Emmes that I haven't said before! She really knows how to bring the words she is reading to life. Her southern accent is amazing and she captured Sin perfectly. The audio was so much better than reading the book, for me anyway, because it brings the book alive. Can not wait for more from both the author and narrator.

Sheryl has been left scarred, battered, and bereft with the loss of those she loves. The main character, 18 year old Sheryl, accounts the background and story of her family's magical (I'm not spilling the beans, I swear) past and insane battle of good vs evil that takes place in her small town. Not sure what genre to put this well written novel in- paranormal, action/suspense, teen romance, mythological? A strong mix of all of the above and a very entertaining read.

The story has some thick twists and turns that resolve themselves in the end. The story follows a handful of generations and the strong element of mythology that lingers in the area. A pondering cliff hanger, or maybe open end, left me going "hmmm!"

Side note: I wouldn't put it in the YA category at all even though the protagonist is younger due to the strong content.

Note: I received an ARC ecopy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of those stories that intrigues you, gets you all wrapped up, and puts you through the wringer. This is Sheryl's story and it is not an easy one. She suffers quite a bit but comes out strong on the other side. A very well told story. I couldn't put it down. And the ending was just perfect. If you can stomach a little bit of gore, I recommend this one.

Growl starts with a rumble, low and sinister. The rumble becomes a snarl, louder now and closer. The snarl becomes an ear splitting roar as the end rushes towards you.

At the tender age of 9, when her world should be one of innocence and wonder, Sheryl Ilene Newcomb (did you catch her initials- SIN) does something unspeakable. And she spends the second half of her life in fear. Fear of being found out. And fear of doing it again.

Any chance at a normal life, of happily ever after with the love of her life, is shattered by a voice. A voice in her head. When she finally meets the owner of that voice, she’s pulled, kicking and screaming, into her heritage. Her destiny.

But, someone else is out there. Someone like her, but not like her. And they won’t stop coming after her until she’s dead.

By the title, you are probably thinking werewolves, but you’d be wrong. This is something new in the paranormal genre, something steeped in Native American lore.

The author chose Mississippi as the setting for this story and it worked well. The southern dialect and culture were a perfect foil for this tale.

Part mysticism, part faith and family, and part horror, Growl kept me engrossed until the battery ran out on my Kindle. As soon as it was recharged, I jumped back into the story, not stopping until I finished.

You’re going to like the ending. And you’re going to want more.

I'm going to keep this kind of short because there is so much going on in the story and I'm afraid to give any of it away! You really want to go into GROWL not knowing too much about the story...helps keep you on your toes! (Or, as in my case, huddled under blankets, biting my nails!!!) I was surprised at how fast I was pulled into the story. It normally takes me a chapter or two to get into any book but with GROWL I was hooked on the first page. With all of the mystery and its fast pace, I couldn't put it down! I devoured GROWL in only a few hours!

While this is a coming of age story...it really is so much more than that! Most coming of age stories focus on the main character figuring out their strengths/weaknesses and who they are. In GROWL Sheryl faces more than just that. I feel like when we start the story she has a pretty good sense of herself. But then you throw in all of the paranormal stuff and it shakes her up a bit. Dealing with all of that kind of stuff on your own can make anyone feel crazy! I will warn you there are some scenes with some pretty nasty gore. I hate anything superfluous in a book but in this case it really adds to the story. I think if Ashley Fontainne had left it out, GROWL would have been seriously lacking. As it is, I give GROWL *****5 Stars***** for its amazing story telling and intense visuals. Not to mention the sleepless nights!

I received this ARC to give an honest review.

This is the second book I have read by this author and I have become more impressed with her writing style.
With Growl we follow the life of Sheryl a young girl who lives in Mississippi. She is a normal person that is until her Nana is murdered, and that is when the true story of it all happens. Sheryl learns about both evil and good that is within her life, she learns about heartache more than anyone should and she also learns more about herself and her family than before.
I really enjoyed the Native American folklore that was written within this story, I am not sure what it is but it is just amazing to read about.
There is magic happening in the backwoods of Mississippi and it is up the guardian and eventually Sheryl to stop the creature responsible for the deaths.
The characters were well developed and I thought Sheryl had an amazing family overall. They were there for each other in their time of need.
There are plenty of twist and turns in this book that you will want to keep reading to find out is this creature can be stopped before more lives are lost. I think the author did a great job with details and making everything seem real.

Here I am, crying at the ending of another fantastic book from Ashley Fontainne. This woman is seriously my FAVORITE suspense author. And I LOVE how she integrates mythology with religion with everyday life. It's amazing how she can build a new world right here in our own backyard.

I really, really love Sheryl. Some REALLY awful things have happened to her in her life. And she had all these plans, hopes, and dreams. But God had some different plans for her. And almost every single time something came along that could break her, she truly rose to the occasion. I love how strong she is.

I also love her family! They may not always understand what is going on with Sheryl, but for the most part, they learn to trust her, and they support her 100%.

This book had me on my toes the whole time! Even though I guessed right about who the bad guy was in this one, I still didn't actually KNOW it was him until right before the end. And of course, in hindsight, I could see how I SHOULD have known, from little hints and clues along the way, but I didn't. :)

Readers beware...you will find no spoilers in my review. It goes against my policies so I will only highlight my thoughts on the book.

I was initially captivated by what promised to be an interesting storyline, but as I kept reading I realized that the plot was likely to deliver something fascinating.
Let’s just say I was not disappointed.
We initiate the story with a frightened little girl who slowly, but surely begins to live a nightmare. Her life is catapulted into a train of terror, which she can’t understand. The more the mystery grew the more I kept turning those pages. I love how well of a picture the author painted for me. I really enjoyed how I could completely drown in this book and feel as if I was part of the tale myself.

With every twist and turn I found myself even more immersed in Growl, and the Native American lore tossed in only added to the allure of the book. The ending, yes, it was as shocking to me as it was welcomed. I didn’t see it coming though I tried to guess what would happen next.

Overall, I give Growl a big two thumbs up.

Pulse Pounding Suspense!
From page 1, I was completely hooked into this story! Growl is a coming of age story with a dramatically different paranormal twist! A wonderful tale of family secrets revealed; Native American spiritualism; regret, piled upon guilt, piled upon gut-wrenching grief and despair; spine-tingling suspense and horror so stark that even the most bloodthirsty will be appeased . The love and support of family, and faith in a higher power, are all that can help Sheryl Ilene Newcomb face her sacred duty, and all that stand between her and certain death. This book kept me up way past bedtime.

This book surprised me. When I first saw it I was a bit iffy as to whether or not I wanted to read it as I am one of those readers who goes off the cover. Now for Ashley Fontainne I thought this cover was very off putting.(For me).

The story on the other hand. OMG! my head was everywhere, trying to work out what as going on BUT the more I read the more I wanted to read it.
The main character is one of those kind of characters who really captivates you, you feel her pain and all as you read that book.

The only thing it did leave me asking myself was is there a second book to this???

This book took me by surprise. At first I was not sure what was going on. The more I read the more intrigued I became and the more I wanted to read. The Main Character Sheryl Ilene Newcomb (her initials are sin) captivated me and I felt her pain and terror at times. The flashbacks of what happened where really well done. The ending did make me smile a little. I am curious if there will be another one. I definitely recommend reading this book!

Potential for a great story, with editing

This story was good enough it kept me reading until the end, but it would have benefited greatly from a another heavy editing. While the Southern dialect was occasionally spot-on, not all Southerners speak like uneducated hicks. Having characters who own a successful business speak as if they failed to complete the third grade quickly grew tiresome, as did the the frequent misuse of the word " ya'll. " This is a contraction for "you all", so is obviously plural, and should never be used when referring to a single person. All Southerners know this. I also don't know if any self-respecting Mississippian who would say, "It weren't no...." There were other glaring errors, such as having a character who had never been married, and referred to frequently as Ms., suddenly becoming Mrs.

Again, the story itself kept me interested enough to finish. For people who aren't Southerners, and who don't mind errors, this book will probably be great.

Growl started off stumbling for me, then recovered and ran fast and intense right up until the end before it once again stumbles and drops the ball entirely. The events leading up to the conclusion are so good that I was staying up later singing the "one more chapter" song, and I still consider it a good book for the most part. But the parts it mishandles are to my mind the most important for any book, and they take down the whole story by a couple notches.

Growl is about a battle between two ancient entities who have each used two small town families as their avatars for many generations. Sheryl Ilene Newcomb is the next inheritor of this ability, and her story begins by telling you how the book ends, who will die, and who will survive. This kills any sense of dread or fear for the characters. Worse, these first few chapters are chock full of infodumps that could have been handled better if they were part of the story as it happens instead of being shoehorned in at the front.

After the first three chapters, the story shakes off some of these slow infodumps, but not all of them. The story works in spite of them, and as I said, I was reading until I had dry eyes for two nights in a row. Sheryl's family and life are interesting enough to make those constant digressions forgivable. She's got a boyfriend already, so there's no need to clutter the story up "finding the one," and after a very brief flashback to a tragedy striking the family when Sheryl was nine, the story jumps ahead nine years to get to the real conflict. Sheryl's discovery of her lineage and duties are fascinating, and I like the monsters even though they stay hidden for most of the book.

And then there's the ending, which drops the ball in every conceivable way. First of all, the bad guy is one of those "muah hahahe, I've got the perfect plan" types of evil villains who are in fact just complete dumb asses who couldn't plot their way out of a paper bag armed with a box cutter and a lighter. I need to make clear, had the villain actually stuck to their plan, they might, MIGHT have had an advantage for maybe a minute or two. Even then, their plan sucked and they would have lost, but they would have at least looked somewhat intelligent. But not this guy. He's just a moron. This actually runs contradictory to what we're told in the story about how calculating and methodical this ancient evil is.

This leads to a wimpy final fight that lasts all of thirty seconds. All that build up and tension is wasted, and the villain isn't ever believable as a threat. Through most of the book, and even while reading the intro about Sheryl's many injuries, I'm thinking, "Man, this fight is going to be EPIC." But the way her injuries are actually sustained left me feeling even more disappointed. This is a limp, whimpering finish when Sheryl deserved a defiant heroic roar.

Problem three is that in order to fill in some of this "brilliant" villain's back story, Sheryl does so via "skin telepathy." It's another infodump, and most of the information doesn't even matter at this point. It might have if the villain was half as cunning as the middle had made them out to be. But for a lightweight moron, it's too much information given too late in the story.

The first chapters could have been pared down and moved to be an epilogue and it would have helped the book a lot by not giving away every important event before it happened. But the book really needed an epic fight to cap off all the invested tension from the middle, and this ending tiff was more like a balloon having all the air let out in a weak raspberry sound.

I'm giving Growl 3 stars. It's worth reading for the things it does differently with the shapeshifter mythos, but it unfortunately doesn't use all the potential it promised.

Eighteen-year-old Sheryl Ilene Newcomb - and yes, her initials do happen to spell SIN - should have little to worry her beyond whether or not she will make the cheerleading squad, missing her boyfriend who is away at basketball camp, and lending a sympathetic ear to her lovelorn best friend. Instead, for the past nine years, Sheryl has been living with a secret. According to her family, the transformation - or whatever it might have been - could probably be traced back to events that happened during the summer when Sheryl turned nine.

That was the year that her elderly great-grandmother died, and when Sheryl's nightmares of the mysterious Shadow-Man started. It was also the year that Sheryl determined no one would ever learn the gruesome details about her Nana's death, nor that Sheryl was convinced that she was in some way responsible. After all, Sheryl had witnessed Nana's mauling, somewhere deep in the woods, and had done nothing to stop it - had she?

However, for the Newcomb family, the day when they truly realized there was a problem - when they had reached the point of no return - was a week before Sheryl began her senior year at Junction City High. That was when the mutilated bodies began appearing in the brush down beside Caney Creek, along with the notes claiming to know Sheryl's terrible secret and warning that the notes' author would soon come to collect what was due - warning that the women of the lineage were going to be eradicated at the hands of their worst enemy.

For eighteen-year-old Sheryl Ilene Newcomb, that was the summer when the fangs and claws of an undeniable monster ravaged all that she held dear; the summer when everything changed and the monster deep inside her soul was unleashed. Because that was the summer when evil awoke and everyone heard its menacing growls. Every living thing in Locasia County, Mississippi quaked in fear, hearing such ominous rumblings.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The plot was very well-written and interesting; I was drawn into the story right away. The character and story development had me intrigued until the very end - I found myself really connecting with Sheryl and I hoped that she and her family would come through everything relatively unscathed.

This was also an unusual treatment of lycanthropy and of werewolves in general; at least in my opinion. This was the first book that I ever read by Ashley Fontainne, but I look forward to reading more in the future. I would certainly give Growl by Ashley Fontainne an A!

Good vs. Evil

I have read all of Ms. Fontainne’s books and each is complex, some are paranormal and each has its own mystery. And so it was with this book. The basis of the plot is that hundreds of years ago there were Indians who split into two groups and one group went north and one group went south to Mississippi. As time passed, a totem entered a member of the northern group and a separate totem entered a member of the southern group. The individual with the totem in the North didn’t care that he was not good, and his totem was a black panther. This individual sought the territory that held the basis of life and death and it didn’t matter who it killed while he was seeking this place. It had the ability to change its appearance from human to the panther. The Mississippi people’s totem was a white panther that could also take the form of a panther plus a modern cat. The girl protagonist, a teenager, has a couple of paranormal experiences while she is very young and when she becomes a teenager, she experiences desires, fears, love, hate, and seeks to kill the black panther in order to bring peace and safety to her town.
Although she doesn’t understand what she is experiencing, an older man who is a friend and also seems to understand what is happening in her life, makes himself known. Eventually he explains all of this to the young girl who attempts to understand the roll she plays, which provides the basis for all of the new events in her life.
The story jumps from mystery to mystery in the lives of these people in this small town, all descendants of the Choctah Indians, and the plot is unique to any I have ever read before. I enjoyed the entire story, although the story has to run its course to the very end for the reader to truly understand all of the aspects of this plot. I recommend this story to anyone who likes mystery intertwined with the paranormal.

My Review:

Danger seems to follow Sheryl Ilene Newcomb, especially since the day of her first vision, the day she found out her dear Nana was gruesomely murdered. As she grew older, Sheryl believes more and more that she was possibly at the scene of the murder. Sheryl soon realizes that there is a greater evil involved than everyone realizes and because of this, everyone she cares about is in danger. With her new found reality of who or what she is, she will do anything to keep everyone around her safe.

When her boyfriend and her brother go missing, Sheryl will fight to the death to keep the, both safe. As everything around her starts to collapse, she will find out the truth she so desperately keeps searching for. A story that took me one day to complete, from cover to cover. It was that good! Full of mystery, action, and intrigue. Looking forward to reading many more books by this author. Very good read with some bad language, but overall a good book.

ABR's original Growl audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.

Set in what appears to be Appalachian like Locasia County in Mississippi, a young woman named Sheryl Ilene Newcomb (Sin for short) discovers that her hopes and dreams have taken a major detour. Desiring to leave the small town with her true love is derailed when bodies begin showing up – bodies of friends and family members. Mixed with rural myths and an ancient Indian rivalry and curse between two brothers, SIN discovers she has a talent for skin walking the summer of her Senior High School year.

Death comes for her and her loved ones in the guise of huge panther – can she save them in time? Can she defeat the evil that lurks in both human and animal form?

Fontainne does an excellent job of portraying the emotions and doubts and desires of a teenager in love with huge dreams. The story was realistic and captivating. As the listener, you can guess where some of the story is going, but then Fontainne throws in a curve with a delightful twist. Having grown up in a rural family myself, I found this story almost like reliving some parts of my life (minus the dead bodies and huge monstrous panther). The small grocery store, the family run diner, the secrets each family has … and more.

The plot was well developed as were the characters. Andrea Emmes did an excellent job of narrating; she seemed to have the voices and dialect down pat.

There were no issues with the production quality.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy the rural realness, horror and a well written story. Ms. Fontainne is an excellent author – one that knows how to captivate, torment and draw the listener in!

"Another GREAT Story Alongwith Excellent Narration "

GROWL was a good suspenseful story set in a rural town called Junction City. It's told in first person by the protagonist, nicknamed SIN. Her name is almost synonymous to the story. I liked the way the story was read in the style of interior monologue. This especially gives you the feel of the character, for example, sharing the experience. This made for a gripping, edge of your seat tale.

This is what sets ASHLEY FONTAINNE apart from many other authors in this genre. She has a special talent for pulling the reader (listener) into the story world. It's what I love about her work.

The antagonist is a shape-shifting black panther who's coming for SIN. He or it is picking off others to get to her. There were a few other supporting characters but the one I liked best was her meemaw. There's no shortage of thrills here. If you're reading this review, do yourself a favor and listen to all Ashley's audiobooks. They're well worth it. BLOOD TIES is in my queue and I can't wait to listen to it as well.

ANDREA EMMES is one of my favorite narrators. I especially liked the way she read this story. Her southern accent was excellent. She fit the story perfectly with her progressive style. Her voice inflections in this audiobook gives the listener the benefit of the emotions of the character. She did an awesome job.

"Amazing"
If you could sum up Growl in three words, what would they be?
Interesting, different, heart touching

What was one of the most memorable moments of Growl?
When Sheryl 1st found out the truth of who she was and her family.

Have you listened to any of Andrea Emmes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes several. I never stopped being amazing at how she can adapt her voice from a sexy vixen, to a little girl, to more serious characters like she did in beautifully broken. She is amazing to listen to. She is easily on the top list of what will she do next. She has a truly amazing talent.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes I would have liked too.

Any additional comments?
I was amazed at how fast paced the story line was. I felt that I was emotionally all over the place with the characters in the story line. Sheryl goes through so much in the story line. A family member is killed, she is in love, her learns of her family's secrets, she finds herself being transformed because of said secrets. She also has a good verse evil problem she is the only one in the family that can resolve the problem. To say the story line is gripping almost feels like an understatement. I truly felt like the fly on the wall listening to the lives of the main characters developed along.

Kudos's to the author for writing an amazing story to take us to a new world to get lost in for a while.

Lady Ashley does it again...
I read / listened to this book in audio format via audible.com. I always go for the audio books first as the narrators tend to breath life into the stories. Audio books allow us to do our every day things in life and still read at the same time. Audio books make it easier on us to exercise and are fantastic long road trip companions. More than anything, audio books are a fantastic form of entertainment!

This is a fantastic paranormal story full of suspense. This story is set in the south. So many gruesome deaths are happening. The town can't decide if it's a big cat or a bear or what. Sin has been having terrible nightmare's. Something, some kind of shadow man is trying to kill her. No one can see this creature but Sin. Read along as the excitement builds and people die. The fear builds up even more. Will it ever end?

Ashley Fontainne did a fantastic job on this book as she does with every book she writes! The plot is exciting and dangerous and scary! The narrator, Andrea Emmes did a flawless delivery of this story too us with perfect southern accents and so many different voices, she is bound to entertain every reader. There is no way I could have even pronounced so many of the paranormal words. I so enjoy listening to these audio books!

This is the first book I have read by this author and now I need more! I really got into the book, though it ended up taking me a while to finish it as life threw me a lot of distractions. I loved how easy it was to fall back into the story every time I picked up the book, even if it had been several days since I read from it.

The characters are well developed and easy to care for. Sheryl just breaks my heart throughout the book with her reactions to everything going on around her. She is terrified at times but so strong and brave. She carries a burden from a young age, knowing that no one will believe her if she tells. It is so sad.

The events throughout the story really surprised me on occasion. Every time I thought I had it all figured out and knew what would happen, the author would throw in a twist. It was great fun to read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that likes a good story with elements of fantasy, horror, Native American beliefs, family secrets, mystery, and so much more. This book will entertain readers of many genres.

I give this book a solid four star rating.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review*

This is the first book from Ashley Fontainne that I have read/listened too and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a new twist on skin walking that I had never heard before, and nowadays it’s not easy to have an original idea. The narration was good, with the narrator having a cute southern accent and speaking clear and consistent. The story itself was filled with activity and kept going at a pretty good pace. There were several times I was a little bit left behind as it moved too quickly for me, but it wasn’t long before I was able to re-orientate. For this confusion, I do drop my rating to 4 STARS. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and will look to see if there is other works from Ms. Fontainne.

Book: Growl (Audio version)
Narrated by: Andrea Emmes
Author: Ashley Fontainne
Genre: Fantasy/Paranormal
Length: 7 Hours, 46 Minutes

Let me just start out by saying that GROWL is different than any book I’ve read by ASHLEY FONTAINNE. I love it when authors take chances and let loose with something hidden in the far recesses of their imagination. It’s what keeps me hooked.

As usual, the writing in GROWL is perfection. The words came alive listening to the narrator. It’s terrifying. It’s exciting. It’s sad. It’s good versus evil in the most black and white, in your face way.

I highly recommend this read!

Growl was a really good book.Andrea Emmes did a wonderful job bringing it all to life.Sheryl was a normal child until age 9.By the time she was an active high school student her differences could no longer be denied. It turns out that she can't live the life she's chosen, she must follow a path set for her hundreds of years ago.The story is tight.I do think that the whole backstory we get in the epilogue should have been in a prequel,or the book could have been made longer. All in all a good story.

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

Sheryl is like other teenage girls, cheer-leading, a boyfriend, a bestie...thinking about her future and college....but that wasn't meant to be for her...from a young age her destiny has been haunting her...she is from a line of skin-walkers and has many responsibilities in front of her...but this comes with a lot of loss and devastation and an ultimate battle....this is her story...

GREAT LISTEN...AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME NARRATION...ANDREA ROCKED THAT SOUTHERN ACCENT, AND I LOVED IT!!!!

Thank You Andrea!!!!

I Want Fangs & Claws (Audiobook)
I thoroughly enjoyed this well written and narrated southern, paranormal, action, suspense, mythological, mystic, romance novel. Plus it has cover art that grabbed me.

Ashley Fontainne's development of the characters and the story throughout the book was very well done and the vocals of Andrea Emmes made the story and characters leap off the page. As per my preferences, I also totally enjoyed the moments of sarcasm and how attached I became to the characters.

I will definitely be on the look out for past & future books by the author and narrator.

'Growl' was a good YA read. The storyline was intriguing. I really enjoyed the characters. The Kovlin women were quite a handful. The way the story played out was good. A good add to your tbr list.
