Depth is a beautifully written guide for anyone growing through heartbreak and into deeper faith. It is one of those rare books that meets you right where you are and gently leads you closer to God’s heart. Each chapter is rich with wisdom, vulnerability, and truth that breathes life into weary souls who are ready to heal and grow.
What stood out to me most was how Jodi reminds us that healing is a journey, not a destination. That truth reframed how I view my own healing. Her list of lies versus God’s truth in Chapter 3 was also powerful—those scriptures spoke life and peace into the uncertainty and negativity that can so easily take over when we’re hurting.
I was deeply moved when the author described looking back and recognizing God’s hand all over her story—it encouraged me to start writing my own. Jodi reminds us that the waiting season, though hard, is one of the most powerful places of growth. And her reminder that God grows us deeper so He can take us higher has stayed with me.
Chapter 12, Embrace the Chisel, was one of my favorites. Jodi’s honesty about humility, forgiveness, and owning her part in the pain was both convicting and freeing. When she described how writing a letter to her ex-husband helped her release bitterness and become unstuck, I found myself in tears—it’s such a beautiful picture of surrender and grace.
Depth is a beautiful picture of how our healing comes full circle when we allow God to use our story to help another hurting heart. He always redeems our pain and transforms it into purpose.
Reading Depth has grown my own roots deeper in God. It’s taught me greater dependence on Him, helped me let go of control, and softened my heart with compassion—for myself and others. It’s encouraged me to slow down, to write for healing instead of performance, and to come alongside others who are hurting with greater empathy and Spirit-led guidance.
If you’re walking through heartbreak or waiting for God to redeem your story, Depth will speak straight to your soul. It’s honest, hope-filled, and rooted in Scripture—a book that truly helps you grow through heartbreak into strength.
Such a meaningful message — Depth is a treasure to me.
Jodi’s book offers a refreshing and heartfelt approach to the pain and struggles so many of us women experience. Her words flow with authenticity, compassion, and hope. I’ve not only enjoyed reading her work but have also had the privilege of hearing her speak in person. She is every bit as genuine and kind as the words she writes.
Last summer, my book club read Depth together, and the conversations it sparked were deeply treasured. We laughed, cried, and grew together. While this book is a beautiful personal read, it becomes even more powerful when shared with women you care about.
I had read the original version, but when the updated publication came out, I was deeply moved by the new additions—especially Jodi’s vulnerable and heartfelt story of finding love again. She writes with such grace and honesty about stepping into a new relationship, capturing both the fear and the profound joy of loving a Christ-centered man. Her journey is a powerful testimony of what it means to trust God and embrace His design for love and leadership. Reading about their courtship, engagement, and blissful reunion—right down to the unforgettable “pink slipper part”—felt like sharing a cherished secret over a cup of tea with a dear friend. The new epilogue beautifully completes this tender narrative.
Beyond her personal story, the updated appendices (C through F) are full of wisdom and practical guidance. Rather than feeling like a manual, these sections read as though a trusted friend has gently placed her arm around your shoulder, helping you navigate life’s challenges with grace and understanding. Jodi’s voice—marked by sweetness, gentleness, and genuine care—shines through every page.
I didn’t think the first edition could be improved upon, but this new version truly elevates Depth to another level. It is an absolute treasure in my collection—a book I will revisit and continue to share with others for years to come.
A Must Read Book for Those Who Have Grieved, Who Are Grieving , or Who Will Grieve
This is only the third book review I've written in my life, which is odd since I am an avid reader of books across all genres. This book about grief and how to survive it truly touched me even though my times of grieving are currently I'm my past. This is a book that should be on everyone's bookshelf as no one will escape tragedy in life. The author has fabulous tips for how to navigate through sorrow and how to use the tragedies in your own life to help others. She's even provided resources in appendices to help yourself and others in specific situations. I'm told this e-book will be available in print in November. I will be buying one for my bookshelf for future reference as well as two more to give to loved ones currently in the throes of grief.
Kindle Jodi Snowdon opens her heart and shares with great love and encouragement from her greatest grief moments so that she can bring hope to others who may be going through a similar experience. Having experienced divorce, miscarriage, and cancer of a loved one, she's a great source of experience of how to lean on God through the hardest challenges of life to grow deep roots that give you the greatest strength.
Told like a friend sharing how her experiences can help another, Jodi lives out 2 Corinthians 1:4 KJV that says, "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." God comforted her in her hardships so that she can comfort others. In Depth: Growing Through Heartbreak to Strength you'll be encouraged to find hope as you walk through the challenges you face!

Reading it feels like sitting down with a good friend who truly understands heartbreak and isn’t afraid to talk about the hard stuff. Jodi shares her own stories with such vulnerability and grace, helping you see that you’re not alone in your pain.
What I most love is how she points you back to God – reminding you that He loves you, cares deeply about every part of your story, and wants to walk with you through the grief. This book invites you to trust Him and let Him into the broken places so healing can begin. This book is a gift for anyone walking through loss or pain to discover hope in the middle of it.
The feeling of being alone—that a heartbreaking life event is not relatable on a truly personal level—that’s my natural reaction. Or I’ve also felt shame in wanting to hide the depth of my pain in heartbreak. What I found soothing about this book is that Jodi Snowdon vulnerably offers empathy and hope through the voice of a spiritual guide. She speaks of the healing power of sharing her heartbreak with safe people. She also brings the wisdom and encouragement of her heart’s desires to grow closer to God, even when life experiences test the strength of faith. Part autobiography and part devotional, this book is a valuable resource for anyone seeking growth through grief.
A fantastic resource filled with hope and encouragement for those who are grieving. I appreciated how Jodi vulnerably invited us into her stories and struggles of heartbreak and grief, but she didn't leave us there. She shared the truths she's learned, encouraging quotes from other books, Scriptures, and practical strategies to help you process your grief and grow deeper in your faith. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is grieving, or for anyone who wants to offer words of encouragement and hope to others who are grieving.
If you are in need of hope because life has you lingering in a season of difficulty, this book is definitely for you! Jodi has generously shared the parts of her journey that were very devastating and heartbreaking, but God! Her vulnerability and transparency holds up the perfect backdrop to illuminate just how good our God is by writing a resounding epilogue with the rest of her story that you DO NOT want to miss! She reminds us that life will continue to bring hard days, but God is faithful to redeem all things in a way that only He can!

Her grief is relatable to the reader because either you or someone you know has or is currently experiencing a similar situation. Pain through trials build strength, resilience, and perseverance. The journey that Jodi takes you on through “Depth,” is unique and personal.
Jodi’s transparency and step by step approach to dealing with grief and hurt is very practical. Having read lots of books on healing, I’d say this book is extraordinarily useful and helpful for right now! Not later on, but today!
Jodi is a gifted writer, and this book is a treasure chest of wisdom for navigating through heartbreak. I "treasure" this book, and would have liked to have it after the sudden cardiac death of our youngest son while he was surfing in 2002. I highly recommend this book!
