This compelling novel portrays, with realism and compassion, one young adult's experience with domestic violence and her attempts to keep it a secret from her friends. This is the fourth novel in the Roosevelt High School Series, which features a multiracial group of teenaged students who must individually face social and cultural issues (such as violence, sexuality, and prejudice) inescapable among young adults today.
i think rina's family secret was a good book. i liked how it was based on something that actually happens to kids and teens, as well as adults. rina went through a lot her mom did too. sadly they all had to suffer, well get hurt, and not feel safe by one person. who was the husband and the father, he hurt the mom, and by hurting her it her his own kids. the kids had to go through a lot from seeing the violence to visiting there mom at the hospital and all over again, until mom said no more. it was good how the mom got strong and said no more and went to a women's place and got help she talked there and felt good that she wasn't the only one who was hit by her husband. i liked it was interesting and also you can read what actually happen to people in real life
i like this because its interesting and cause i like books that have violence and like i feel her because i sometimes u feel her feeling and how sad she feels to see her mom get abused by a guy that doesn't even care for her his kids....that sad to have a step dad that abuses her mom and sometimes that doesn't even say "hi honey how are you" ...he does not do that he just like to get home and hurt his wife like if she did something wrong to him that fast
