The Chalet Next Door: An All-Ski, No-Spice Christian Romcom

Rate this book
Blizzard Outside. Banter Inside. Sparks Inevitable.
Bubbly book publisher Presley Astor has been told all her life she’s “too much.” But she’s perfectly happy being herself- and taking her pampered Shih Tzu, Priscilla, on a solo ski trip to Sage Mountain, Wyoming. What she’s not prepared for is a blizzard knocking out her power and forcing her to seek refuge in the chalet next door…with a brooding cowboy who clearly doesn’t know what to do with someone like her.
Ford Prescott is a guarded skijoring champion-a rodeo sport where a horse pulls a skier at breakneck speeds-preparing for the biggest race of his life. But he’s also fighting cheating competitors and a faith that’s quietly slipping through his fingers. As snow piles high and the town shuts down, Presley’s joy (and Priscilla’s undeniable charm) begins melting Ford’s walls. But when old insecurities and misunderstandings hit harder than the storm, they’ll have to decide if God’s plan for them is bigger than just surviving the blizzard.

An All-Ski, No-Spice Christian Romcom!

❄️”What, no flowers for me? Don’t tell me Jack couldn’t send a charcuterie tray. Amateur move, Prescott.”❄️

I received an arc for this book from the author in exchange for my honest thoughts!! I loved this book sooo much!! I absolutely loved Presley and Ford!! Priscilla reminds me of my Shih Tzu terrier and she’s so funny lolll and the epilogue was hilarious🤣🤣 I loved that there was a lot of praying and more faith based moments!!

I definitely recommend this book!!! This book is a perfect winter read!!!❄️

I loved The Chalet Next Door!!

Presley was immediately one of my favorite POVs I’ve read from. I really enjoyed her sense of humor and thought processes. Reading her worries felt like an understanding hug, even if my worries aren’t the exact same. Cassandra did a great job writing a FMC who is relatable and inspiring.

I will admit that I wasn’t sure whether I would get behind the hype of Priscilla. Small, high-maintenance dogs are not my thing, and I didn’t know how I would enjoy the inner dialogue throughout Presley’s chapters. I can now report that by the end of the book, I enjoyed her dramatic commentary. Writing the epilogue from Priscilla’s POV was a nice touch that brought life to the epilogue contents we come to expect from a rom-com.

I enjoyed reading every interaction between Ford and Presley; they were both very genuine and complex characters. It can be disorienting when going back and forth between POVs, but the transitions feel natural. Their romance was very sweet, and their individual faith journeys were touching.

This book was fun, cozy, and both lighthearted and deep. It is one of my top 3 reads of 2025, and I recommend that everyone reads this book!

I received an ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book was PRECIOUS!

Like all Cassandra Joelle's books, there is a huge emphasis on God & His Sovereignty in her characters' lives, which is one of the reasons I LOVE her books so much.

I loved the forced proximity in this & how clear boundaries were drawn yet it didn't take away from the romance/tension.

Presley is used to being told she's "too much" but her bubbly personality and her pup are just what Ford needed.

Ford is struggling with his faith & competing in skijoring while trying to stay out of the public eye until competition time.

When Presley's power goes out in her chalet, she is rescued by the cutie cowboy in the chalet next door 🥰

The only reason this did not get 5 ⭐️ from me was because the dog had an inner monologue THEN the epilogue was in the dog's POV. I'm aware this is probably a me thing & most will consider it cute but I don't like a personified animal unless I'm reading a fantasy book 🫣

*thank you so so much to Cassandra Joelle for the ARC 🫶🏻

This was a cute, quick read! I kinda didn’t like that the chapters were so long, but I guess it makes sense due to the fact that this book is 200+ pages! Loved the faith elements in this, too! Presley and Ford were cute! Two very relatable characters. And Presley’s dog, Priscilla??! TOO STINKIN’ CUTE! I didn’t even realize that the epilogue was in the dog’s POV, lol. 😂😂😂 Thank you to the author for this e-ARC!

This clean romance is so perfect for a winter evening! The book follows Presley, who's on a Wyoming ski trip, and Ford, a famous cowboy who happens to live next door to her vacation rental. I loved the snowy Wyoming mountains and cozy chalets. Their skiing scenes are also really fun! And Presley's little dog, Priscilla? Absolutely adorable!!

The romance is sweet! It's a forced-proximity situation while sheltering from cold in the same chalet, but with guest rooms and other accommodations, I really appreciated how everything remains very clean. The faith content is also prominent, as each character is on a journey to heal from past hurts. And there are discussions of the gospel, which is something I always love!

I also LOVED Ford's skijoring (which is a sport where skiers are pulled behind horse-and-rider teams). I've never read a book that includes this topic, and while I knew a bit about it before reading this, seeing those scenes through the characters' eyes gave me a new perspective. It makes the book feel really unique!

I'd definitely recommend this as a fun seasonal romance (and for anyone curious, this is technically a winter tale rather than a Christmas book, so if you're looking for cozy reads beyond the holidays, this is a good one to explore!)

Mentions of cheating exes/failed dating relationships.

Once again Cassandra hits it out of the park.
I am soooo thankful that I got to be able to be an ARC reader for this amazing Rom-Com

From the very beginning I knew I was gonna love Presley, she has this care-free sunshine spirit
about her that is so sweet and I loved watching her seek God's help to regain the confidence to be unapologetically who God made her to be!

Ford's character was amazing as well and my favorite thing about this novel was watching him find his way`back to Christ! The faith content in this book was so strong and beautifully written that
I feel you can grow in your own faith just reading it..

That being said, Miss Priscilla had to be my favorite character out of the entire book, all that sass in a small little dog🤭🤭

Definitely a must read.
Thank you @Cassandraioelle for an ARC copy of this book. My review is voluntary and all opinion's are my own!

Cassandra Joelle has done it again! I honestly devoured this book after receiving an ARC from her. Her characters had great chemistry, and the development in the male lead was just perfect! Another thing I enjoyed was Presley's and Ford's interaction; they were sweet yet simple, and how Cassandra made sure to center Jesus between them was the icing on the cake! Also, let's not forget Presley's furry friend Priscilla, who was an all-around diva, which I adore! I just love it when the main characters have a furry best friend. Overall, the pacing and world-building were good, and I believe any reader can relate to both characters. Well done!

The Chalet Next Door is a snow-kissed delight that is set at the picturesque Sage Mountain Resort delivering the perfect blend of heart and humor.

Presley’s plan for a peaceful getaway goes sideways when a power outage and a locked door lead her straight to her new neighbor - Ford, a famous skijorer with a guarded heart. What begins as an awkward mishap soon turns into shared laughter, puzzle nights, and slow-burn chemistry that feels as natural as fresh snow falling outside their chalet windows.

Between Priscilla the sassy Shih Tzu, spontaneous Elvis dance breaks, and tender moments of healing, this story shines with warmth and wit. This was definitely a sweet an cozy fireside romance that proves love can find you even when you least expect it.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book, and this is my honest and unbiased review.

A sweet Christian Romcom
How sweet it was! So cute it'll leave you melting despite the chilly weather in the story.
My most favorite part? Ford falling first for Presley's little doggy diva, Priscilla.
My second favorite part? The faith content, showing redemption through the saving power of Jesus Christ.
Romance: very sweet, kisses only.
Faith content: present
CW: None I can think of, clean. 😄 She does have to room at his house but completely clean, no sleeping together or anything.
This is zero spice, which is awesome. There are several mentions of them noticing the other, but more to their relationship than that as it's their character and personalities that make the other want to date.
Overall rating 4.5/5 stars! Available for preorder right now! Be sure to check Cassandra out. She has quite a backlist of clean reads to enjoy! 🩷 Thank you, Cassandra, for my ARC. This is my honest opinion.

What do you get when you combine a skiing cowboy, a pampered pet, a blizzard/power outage and messages of faith? This cute and unexpected romcom that will keep you smiling from start to finish, of course! This truly was such a cute read-- right from the start I couldn't help but be drawn into Presley and Ford's story. If you've ever felt like (or been told) that you're too much, chances are you'll relate to Presley just as I did, making me root for her all that much more. Both characters were very relatable in different ways, and as much as I enjoyed the sweet romance between them, I think I loved seeing their growth throughout the story even more. This is a story that absolutely pointed back to Jesus every step of the way, and seeing Ford's faith journey was a beautiful aspect of the story. Priscilla, a very pampered Shih Tzu added so much fun to the story too... especially in those moments we really get to see her unique personality shine through. With cowboy vibes and the perfect winter setting, there was so much to love in this story, and I enjoyed every moment.

The Chalet Next Door is a Christian romcom with kisses only and no language.

Heartwarming Christian romcom! I was so grateful to have received an ARC copy of this book. The ski town setting made my heart crave a cozy mountain cabin and some fresh powder. I loved Presley and how boldly she lived out her faith. I admire that she wasn’t afraid to be exactly who she is. Ford’s journey back to Christ was so relatable for those of us who have strayed in our faith at times. For me, Priscilla was the star of the show! Her comments sprinkled throughout the book was such a fun touch. I also loved her POV in the epilogue.

A Christian Romance
She’s a book publisher & he’s a skijoring champion
A sassy Shih-tzu that you will love and want!

About the Book:
Ford is a skijoring champion & is preparing for his biggest race yet. While he battles cheating competitors & his faith, he meets Presley. Her and her shih-tzu are stuck in a blizzard in the mountains in Wyoming and she has to seek refuge next door. Will they trust God and His plan or let misunderstandings & insecurities rule them?

My Thoughts:
Let me tell you, this story is amazing! I loved all the faith elements. How they rely on God throughout the book. I loved Presleys personality. She could totally be me lol. Don’t even get me started on Priscilla. I want her and her sassy self. She is so cute and her Inner monologue we hear from throughout the book is so hilarious. I laughed so much. Seriously read this book! I never wanted it to end!

Some Quotes from the book I loved:
“I decided to skip the garlic bread since I had ice cream. Balance”

Priscilla’s Inner Monologue:
“These boots might look fabulous on me darling, but they are a far cry from Chanel”

“What is it with men here in Wyoming? Why are they all so….handsome? Do you bake them from scratch up here?”

“If they recognize you, do I get extra marshmallows?”

Couple: Ford & Presley
Spice: None - Clean Romance

TW: Past insecurities with men and mention of hurts with family

So sweetie

SO GOOD! I could not put this down. Her other book about Maple Haven for fall lovers is another favorite I just finished and I just love her writing style. I think the way she has the christian aspect roped into each piece makes it extra sweet. I loved the dynamic, the dialogue, the everything. Even the beginning part that can be a bit boring in other stories had me glued to this book. I think the characters are very easy to relate to as well.

God First Romcon, A Sassy Shih TZU, A Women Struggling With Herself & A Cowboy Struggling With His FAITH. Priscillais a cute pampered Chill Tzu and she is a little sazzy.
Ford struggles to talk to God after all has happened and Rreshy can talk to God so easy, but they both don't want to fall for the other one,but ford is starting Presky to the having Rresbey and Rresella in his Chalect and life.
The more they both precy to not fall for each other the more they fall for each other.
Press has some healing to do and so does Ford and they both did.
Ford Prescott doesn't want any distractions Buthe gets distracted by a next door neighbor and her cute little doggie.
Every time Ford learns more about Presley and Priscilla the more he falls for her and doesn't want them to leave.
Eventhough road asked God not to let him give in,into temptacions God did as Ford asked.
Presley helped Forel find his way back to God.
Presley is a workaholic, before she booked a solo I week trip to the mountions with her dog and God
Presky doesn't want to fall in love with the cowboy she's been living with.Presley can easyly talk to God about every and anything she wants to talk about.
She talked to a man about God,but he duesn't believe in God.It should always be Givel's will and way for our lives instead of our way or our will for our lives Prisella smelted ford' s hard, but not as much as Presley did thanks to God Himself. Before Presley had to leave she stayed to watch the game, but mostly to watch ford win and he did thanks to God helping him.

"Taking my brew to the windows, I saw the women who I assumed was my neighbor for the week. She has ecellent taste, I thought. A smile crossed my face, immediately shaken off. Stayed focused, Ford."

"But the truth was, my awareness of ford was growing quickly. Last night, I even prayed about it.
I still knew very little about Ford, other than the fact he was drop-dead handsome, of course. And turned out, a great dancer I had my guard up pretty strong last night, but there was a moment when he dipped me, I felt something in my heart. My feelings for him were solidified in a way. Seeing him up close, yet, out of kissing distance, my heart was fawning over him. I respected how gentlemanly he was being and hoping it was because he was starting to like me."

This book was absolutely adorable and cozy. I could not put it down and ended up finishing it in just one day! Presley and Ford were such lovable and relatable characters, and their story felt so real and heartfelt. The romance was pure, tender, and beautifully rooted in faith. I loved how Cassandra wove God’s goodness, grace, and redemption throughout the story in such an uplifting way. Reading about Presley and Ford’s faith journeys made the story even more meaningful and inspiring. I also loved that it was a forced proximity, strangers-to-lovers story.

And we cannot forget Presley’s shih tzu, Priscilla. She brought so much fun and sass to the story! The Wyoming ski resort setting was cozy, magical, and the perfect backdrop for their romance. Learning about Skijoring was such a fun and unique touch that made me want to see it in real life.

Overall, if you are looking for a heartwarming, faith-filled romance that will leave you smiling, inspired, and dreaming of a snowy mountain getaway, The Chalet Next Door is the perfect winter rom-com for you!

Sweetest cozy (and clean) winter rom-com! Ford and Presley's love story is adorable, funny, and relatable. Both characters are struggling with letting go of past hurts and forgiving those who hurt them and it was very real and so enjoyable to see these characters overcome those hurts (in God's strength!) as they grew in attraction and feelings for each other. I loved that Biblical themes - finding your identity in Christ, forgiving others with God's strength, trusting the Lord's plan for love and romance, allowing God to heal broken hearts, and surrendering every part of your life and plans to the Lord - were emphasized beautifully throughout this book. Presley's cheerful, quirky characteristics (and those of her pampered dog!) made this book so fun to read! And the slow-burn of Ford falling for every one of her crazy, bubbly traits was so delicious! This romance will definitely put a big smile on your face and get you in the mood for a cozy winter!

I absolutely LOVED this book! From the charming banter and tender healing arc to the spoiled, sassy shih tzu who steals every scene, this story had my heart from the start. The atmosphere is pure winter magic — cozy chalets, snowy adventures, and delightful winter games that made me feel like I was right there.

One of my favorite parts was the sincere, God-centered dialogue woven naturally throughout the story. Cassandra Joelle has such a gift for writing faith-filled moments that feel organic, hopeful, and deeply moving. The redemption, the spiritual encouragement, and the soft reminders of grace made this story extra special. I even teared up multiple times!

If you love heartfelt, clean romance with warmth, depth, and a strong thread of faith, this is absolutely the book for you. And the fact that it actually snowed while I was reading felt like the sweetest gift — the perfect reading vibe!

Beautiful, cozy, faith-rich, and heart-melting. I loved every second. ❄️💙📖

The Chalet Next Door is the Christmas book to read if y’all love a swoony romantic comedy! Presley (FMC) is a bubbly and independent book publisher with a precious little Shih Tzu named Priscilla. Ford (MMC) is a guarded skijoring champion. Talk about the saying that God works in mysterious ways….because He truly does. Personality-wise, Presley and Ford are different, but strangers can definitely become lovers.

On a solo trip, Presley was happy to go on a little snowy adventure with Priscilla. A blizzard had other plans for these two. The way Presley and Ford’s paths are crossed as they are snowed in truly brings out the deeper aspects of them. Through their bonding over their experiences and struggles, they learn a lot of the way God’s plan has brought them here. Cassandra has done it again with this precious romance novel IN THE SNOW!!!

If you love forced proximity, slow burn, strangers-to-lovers, precious side furry characters, romcoms, you will love the Chalet Next Door!

Thank you Cassandra Joelle for an ARC of your new book!!

I love how faith-filled Cassandra’s romances are!! These characters are going through real relatable struggles and yet they grow and change for the better. That’s exactly what I love about her books. The romance is just a cute bonus!! I absolutely loved Ford! I have never heard of a skiing cowboy. But it really was intriguing! Cassandra always writes the sweetest Mmc’s!! Their romance is so adorable and real it’s impossible not to love it! I have loved all of Cassandra’s books that I’ve read and will definitely read more. I will totally recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute faith-filled romance!!

This ARC was my introduction to Cassandra's writing, and I loved it so much! Presley was so relatable, and truly just such a joy to read about and see the world through. Ford was relatable in a different way, and his faith journey was beautiful to witness. The dynamic of these characters, combined with the skiing setting and the power outage plot, just made for an absolutely fabulous read! Cassandra combines faith and romance flawlessly, and crafted two main characters who make the world a much brighter place. This is the perfect book to cozy up on your couch with this winter--or even better, at a ski lodge. There's no happily ever after quite like a happily ever after plus Jesus!

The cutest book ! I loved Presley and Ford’s story ! They both had things that have hurt them in the past and they are working on it .
Presley isn’t afraid about talking about her Faith either , Ford had some experience with God in the past but his past hurts put him further away from God . Meeting Presley makes him rethink love and his love for God too .
I loved Priscilla the Shih Tzu in the book too she was adorable in her outfits and her personality and how she adored Ford in the book.
I can’t wait to read more books I already have A weather girls guide and A new lease on life I ordered I loved this book so much.
Thank you Cassandra for having me on your arc team ❤️❤️

Heartwarming love story

Presley and Ford are such a cute couple even they didn’t realize that could happen a relationship between them! She was godly woman and spread the gospel while she waited for the God’s blessings in her love life tired of being rejected by all the men saying she was too much! He was distant from God but the forced proximity with Presley brought him back to the Way, showing that was a right woman for his life right in front of him!
This wonderful book teach us about love, faith, waiting in God, forgiveness and all the things happen when are meant to be!

The Chalet Next Door was my first cozy winter, Christian read, and I loved it!! I loved the honest inner monologues of both main characters and the dual POVS (even the dog's on occasion).

Forced proximity is one of my favorite tropes, and I appreciated that this had the added bonus of honest discussions about Godly boundaries. I loved seeing Ford's journey back to Lord as he walked through forgiving others, especially his family.

Super cute book!! I can't wait to add a physical copy to my bookshelf!

This was fun! Different than the other books I’ve read thus far, this was very much hallmark vibes! I liked how Christ was at the center and not just a slight mention. I liked how cute the idea was and I loved the setting (winter aka Christmas aka my favorite time of year). There was a lot of internal conflict and things both characters had to work through and less external conflict, which I did like. Overall, enjoyable read. If you’re a silly and fun hallmark loving person, this may be the book for you!
