I unhinged my jaw and swallowed this book whole. Another five-star banger, as if I expected anything less. This one felt so different from other books I’ve read by HB, which just proves again that this woman has serious range, she can truly do it all.👏🏻
The opening scene had me fucking gaggggeeddddd. That power dynamic? I was literally kicking my feet. The moment she pulled out the gun and straddled him, I said, “Oh, this is gonna be my motherfucking girl,” and SHE WAS. 🤭
This book was ridiculously hot. The tension was too damn good. The push and pull between these two is straight-up addicting, the chemistry is unreal. The way they’re going back-and-forth stealing orgasms from each other. FERALLL. Jessica steals a one from him so of course he has to steal one back while he’s driving his $3 million car. WOOF WOOF
I love a poor/rich dynamic, especially when the FMC is from the wrong side of the tracks. They’re always strong-willed baddies who don’t take shit from anyone. Jessica is playing hard to get and I was cheering her on because the harder she plays, the harder Kane falls and I was eating it up. MAKE HIM BEG FOR IT SIS WE LOVE TO SEE IT
Kane, Kane, Kane… let me tell you about my new obsession. This man radiates big dick energy. His expressions, the way he moves, the way he talks, the way he literally leans against a wall the control, the confidence. THE LIST GOES ON. And don’t even get me started on the fact that he races cars, has money, and is a total softy for his mom. Like, are you kidding?? The total package.
( he also has a couple nicknames for her which I love because why are we just settling for one?)
And the tropes?? Every single trope I love ( I’m a little rat for primal) AND we threw in a secret society? I was fully fed. I flew through this book. I was thinking about it all day. I couldn’t put it down and literally sped home just to finish it. I genuinely don’t know if I have the strength to wait for the next book. Besides the plot and the spice being literally immaculate, I just have to talk about how good the pacing felt for such a short book. I was invested from the third page. This is the definition of a binge worthy book.
Also, the side characters?? I’m digging every single one, and I’m already so intrigued by several of them. I need this to become a whole world. This might be one of my new favorite things. I LOVE IT HERE. Usually I take a minute to gather my thoughts and compose a put together review, but I hope you guys can tell from how chaotic this is that it’s just genuine natural excitement after JUST finishing it.😂😂

The first few chapters were FIRE!!! (Reversed) power play, a gun, calling him a good boy?! Wow I was sat! And the story flew after that. I just love a man obsessed!
There wasn't much plot and I haven't learn much about anything yet. And I can't wait for the next books.
Also, why was the ending so abrupt?? The book is only around 160 pages and it would make sense to make it longer and give us more of the story.

SO DANG GOOOOOD!!! Finished this in one sitting. I think I highlighted the entire book. The amount of times my cheeks were FLUSHED 🤭😮💨 that beginning scene had my jaw on the floooor. She really did that hehe. The power shifts. The little scene in the woods. I luvvvvv fast cars so I enjoyed the little street race and sports car aspect. SO EXCITED FOR #2

My weakness is Secret Society dark romance. Add in a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who’s a total baddie? I’m sold. This was a whole lotta fun packed into less than 200 pages, and I devoured it. I can’t wait to see what else this new universe, Harleigh, is building has in store.

Jessica, comes up with a plan however, she didn’t expect getting caught and by none other than the owners son. She doesn’t back down as he tries to corner her. From here on out we are drawn into the push pull tête à tête which leads to some conflict of interests and 🌶️. What will happen when their two worlds collide?

DNF at 58%. Just not hooked. I liked that the heroine was the dom and got the upper hand, but the chemistry/smut was not strong enough to make the story work, the plot felt juvenile, flat pacing. I really like the author’s work when she focuses on horror/paranormal erotica. I’ll keep supporting the author but am really hoping I enjoy their works again some day.

Why am I so in love with the broken men? Kane is hot as asphalt in July on the equator. I love how he gets handled by her in the beginning. Having an FMC that is so fiercely loyal to her family and just trying to survive. I am so excited for the next book this was a wild adventure. Also Kane’s dad made me feral with anger. That guy is a special brand of evil. The dagger OMG I am dying to see how she will survive this one. You have awesome tropes with secret society, rich MMC and FMC from the other side of the tracks. I need the next book asap.

am obsessed with an fmc who holds power over him while carrying her whole family on her back. the way she loved her little sister, especially with their mom being ill, was so tender and real. she did not baby her; she understood her. 🥹 and kane.. Its like a Romeo and Juliet thing but Juliet is a badass and takes what she wants... and he's not used to not being in control. Oh and there's street racing. I'm kind of obsessed with both of them. This was a nice little appetizer, I'm definitely glad book 2 is already out cause I'm immediately diving into the next one!
