Tl:dr; This book is ruined by its insistent usage of out-of-context fragments of Bible verses.
I got this book as the free book of the month from Logos Software one month, and I am not impressed. The general structure of the book is to have a short, uplifting story supported by a Bible verse. The problem is, the verse is almost always out of context and completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. For example, one chapter was a short story about generosity. It's supporting Scripture? John 3:16; "For God so loved the world that he gave." Not only is that NOT what John 3:16 is about, but there are DOZENS of other verses about generosity and this book instead chooses to use an out-of-context fragment of the most well-known verse of the Bible! Biblical literacy is at an all-time low and books like this compound the problem. "But as long as it's encouraging, it's okay!" Wrong. Encouragement founded on a lousy understanding of God's word will be very, very easily shaken. This book is an okay collection of short stories and homilies, but it's a bad devotion if you're really trying to know God's will. Just read your Bible, and let God's word speak for itself. I'm adding one star to my review only because once in a blue moon the Scripture is relevant and it works (which makes all the other times they use out-of-context verses more aggravating).
This devotional book is inspirational. Each day you will read a short vignette. I found that these short writings were truly motivating and inspiring. I especially liked the short Scripture writings at the end of each story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves devotionals. This book will brighten up your mornings and get your day started with God.
