Approaching Menace

Rate this book
Josie Aspen gladly gave up a career path to move to the Gulf Coast to help with her sickly little brother. Her phobia of bad weather means being ever-fearful of hurricanes, but possible storms aren’t as scary as a killer who is attacking young women in the area.

As Josie's brother's condition worsens, their mother reveals she is much more erratic than Josie ever imagined, and the man Josie plans to marry shows signs that he may be hiding something terrible.

As a powerful storm turns toward their coast and the body count rises, Josie will need to face her terrors if she is to keep her little brother alive.

June Shaw writes a touching story of a sister's love and protective nature toward her sick brother. On the side, June teases the reader with a romantic relationship between the sister and a young man with a history of gambling addiction. One wonders when this problem will rise up and harm the sister who has invested so much in the relationship. Throughout the entire story is a theme of danger. Someone is watching the sister and gets excited at her fear of weather and situations. From start to finish, the story is a page turner that delights the reader's taste for suspense and loving relationships.

I give this book 3 1/2 to 4 stars. The author has tapped into the inate fear of storms many people have. I have been through a few tornadoes in my life and understand that fear. The tension from stormy weather and a killer on the loose kept my interest piqued. I will enjoy reading more from Ms. Shaw. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.

FEARS

There are some stories which the reader w truly enjoys, and than there are stories such as this one, which the reader overwhelmingly loves. This is a wonderfully great story. Everything, from the characters, to the plot, to the storyline all the way to the happy ending is magnificent.

There was a good foundation for a great story here but the
plot kept dragging and there was a lot of repetition. It was
too intimate to recommend to YA yet that is who it seemed largely
meant for. The ending was very shaky. It felt like a chapter was
skipped and ended abruptly.
