Wow this book blew me away from start to finish. Short chapters with multiple POV which I absolutely loved. I loved the transcripts from the past timeline chapters which added a little more insight. You really can’t go wrong with Kim’s books.

This was a very entertaining read with short chapters, I didn’t know who to trust. A neighbourhood where everything isn’t as it seems. Would definitely recommend!

The short, punchy chapters keep the emphasize the fast pace and mimic Emily’s mounting panic. There are multiple layers of deception, which I personally found to be too much. The novel does keep you guessing about whether the threat is coming from the seemingly perfect neighbours, an old enemy from their past, or from inside Emily’s own marriage.
An enjoyable read but not my favourite KL Slater novel.

K.L. Slater is back, with another compelling psychological thriller that quickly draws you into a web of secrets, lies and family drama.
From the opening chapters, the tension steadily builds as seemingly ordinary lives begin to unravel. Every character has something to hide, and as long-buried secrets start to surface, it becomes increasingly difficult to know who can be trusted. Just when you think you’ve worked everything out, another revelation changes everything.
The story is well paced, with short, addictive chapters. Suspicion shifts constantly from one character to another, leaving you questioning everyone’s motives. The emotional depth adds another layer to the mystery, making the characters feel believable while the twists keep you guessing.
As the truth finally comes to light, the shocking conclusion delivers a satisfying payoff. Full of deception, family secrets, suspense and unexpected twists, this is another gripping psychological thriller that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end. A highly recommended read.

I’ve always enjoyed how Slater writes her characters they feel real, like people you could easily know and this story is no exception. This one felt a little different in style compared to her usual work, with the inclusion of police procedure notes, file entries, and medical records. I really liked how this was laid out, as it added an extra layer of depth and intrigue.
The story perfectly captures the idea that you never truly know what goes on behind closed doors, making it a gripping domestic thriller. They met when they were broke and starting scamming people for money. Where some people wouldn’t notice has gone. But now it seems they are turning into one of them people when they move in the affluent area. But Orchard Lane is not as it seems and there is lots of secrets behind closed doors.
In the second half of the story it tells of a couple years ago forced off a cliff and the women with her who was pregnant survived.
I’m not really one for slow burn stories. But K L Slater is an exception. This was a slow build from the first page building tension as the story unfolded. What was thought was a perfect neighbourhood turned out anything but that. This is a story of twists and turns that had me gripped on what happened next. I thought I knew how the story where the story was heading but I was pleasantly surprised towards the end. 4 stars from me.

But moving to Orchard Lane may not be the best move they have made. Little do they know what goes on behind their neighbours’ front doors and time does nothing to dispel this. Oliver starts acting strangely and keeping secrets from Emily. This behaviour is alien to her as the couple were quite literally thick as thieves in their old life. Emily begins to feel unsettled and that she is missing something. Perhaps this move leaving their dishonest past behind them and having a new start isn’t all that she hoped it would be.
I found this book quite slow and difficult to get into. None of the main characters are particularly likeable and Emily and Oliver’s past does nothing to endear you to them. This isn’t my favourite book by this author but I would gladly read more in the future.

K.L. Slater is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, and We Tell Lies is another reminder why. Her plot twists always land perfectly, and this book was no exception.
That opening chapter completely floored me—I genuinely had my jaw on the floor and immediately needed to know what was going to happen next. From that point on, I was hooked.
I loved the storyline, the cast of characters, and especially the nosey neighbourhood setting where everyone seems to know everyone else's business... or at least think they do. It created the perfect atmosphere of suspicion, secrets, and tension.
The twists kept coming at just the right moments, making it impossible to predict where the story was heading. While I guessed one small detail, there was still plenty that caught me by surprise.
Another gripping psychological thriller from K.L. Slater, and I can't wait to pick up my next one.

Gripping from the outset, the novel steadily builds tension. Emily and Oliver are engaging characters, and the gradual revelations about their pasts work particularly well, helping to anchor them while also giving a convincing sense of their shared history.
The recurring idea of 'snooping' adds another layer of unease. At one point, a character describes a pressure building in their chest, and Slater does an excellent job of reflecting that feeling back to the reader, creating a sense of mounting tension.
I really enjoyed this, although the pacing felt a little slow in places, which occasionally softened the suspense. Even so, it's an absorbing read and one I'd happily recommend to readers who enjoy an atmospheric, slow-burn thriller.

As a huge fan of this author, when I first started to read perhaps the first 30% of the book, I was worried that this was not going to be as good as all the others by this author. It was a slow build and I became impatient with the slow paced character build. Well that was until the plot really picked up pace and the reasons for the huge character builds were shown! Great twists and turns, left me guessing to the end and then another surprise! Short, packed chapters that left you wanting to read the next. Great psychological thriller! Def recommend-

I find myself drawn to books about neighbours keeping secrets, so this was right up my street (pardon the pun!)
I was intrigued to find out how the past and present would come together and to find out what each character was hiding. I found the flashbacks to the early days of Emily and Oliver's relationship really interesting.

Overall this book held my interest, and I liked the ending. I would recommend this.
I was intrigued to find out how the past and present would come together and to find out what each character was hiding. I found the flashbacks to the early days of Emily and Oliver's relationship really interesting.

I love a british thriller and K.L Slater does just that - the characters were really well fleshed out and had great development along the book. This book went in a direction which I didn’t effort - but loved which I appreciated Kim doing as it helped keep me on my toes and made sure I was engaged the whole way through. The end twist was diabolical and made me really think. Would highly recommend this another excellent book by K.L Slater.

Oliver and Emily are enjoying a fresh start. New home and new neighbours. Emily is desperate for things to change after years of deception and she hopes Oliver wants the same.
Orchard Lane is full of secrets as we soon find out with Oliver and Emily’s lives intertwining with some of the neighbours.
There are different story lines weaving through the book but is very well written and kept me interested from the beginning.

This book really kept me guessing right until the end. A street full of lies, secrets and scams. I love K L Slaters writing style. We had short chapters, interviews, dual timelines, police evidence and lots of twists. I love how everything came together at the end and was rooting for certain characters.

I was hooked from the beginning and kept wanting to read just one more chapter.
Just when I thought I knew where the plot was going another twist surprised me. Then when I thought I had it all worked out the ending completely shocked me.
I’d recommend giving this a read it you’re a fan of psychological thrillers.

I do love a close knit street with secrets - something about feeling like a nosey neighbour I guess.
