They tried to silence her, but she doesn’t need a voice to twist the odds in her favor. When Liliana wakes up in the body of an otome game villainess, she knows it’s do or die. As the daughter of a duke and a candidate to marry the crown prince, she faces constant threats from assassins and her father’s political enemies. Worse still, a fever has left her mute, unable to call for help or use magic to defend herself. Or so they all think! One quick attempt is all it takes for Liliana to shatter the common sense of her world, which dictates that incantations are mandatory for spellcasting. Now, all she needs to do is escape the grim destiny that awaits her. Though her foresight can only take her so far—the game doesn’t start for another seven years—nothing can stop a six-year-old armed with erudition and cheat-level magic.
Good but….LOTS of political intrigue that makes my head hurt and the MCs are kids and read as MUCH older than 6-8 years old, with none of the adults acting like it’s all that strange. Not sure what is up with her dad. I’m willing to read the next volume to find out, but if we don’t get more answers, I’m booting this series.
3, crossing my fingers but not holding my breath, stars.

Interesting start for a villainess series. It is a setup volume, mostly introducing the world, characters, magic and the position of the MC within the story. Note that her position isn't particularly good. She is just a candidate to become the fiancé of the crown prince, a boy whose position is far from certain, and she recovered her memory from a previous life at a sick bed from an illness that also robbed her voice and might very well be the result of a curse placed on her by her mother or father. Assassins, bandits and monsters do plague her and the kingdom. The fact she is a young kid, isn't that bad in this story, but it is a trope I am not a big fan of. It is also a bit long for a setup volume. Otherwise, a solid read and I am really curious about what comes next.
It's a good premise but I am not finding it enjoyable at all. Got as far as 50 pages in and decided I couldn't find any enjoyment from this.
Our main character supposed to be smart and brilliant but we don't see anything of that. Her magic ability is to, I felt, overpowered. There is no explanation how she can use magic and then there is the characters.
I didn't find either her or her fiance to be interesting.
Will not recommend it. And no I will not finish this book.
