Alphaholes #5

Obedience

Rate this book
Obedience – compliance with an order, request, or submission to another’s authority.
I’m obsessed with my wife.

I claimed her, I married her, and now she belongs to me in every way; but I’ve never been more scared of losing her.

I’m Sebastian Lockwood; a king among men. And kings get what they want.

But Starling has become a true queen. And queens get to play by their own rules.

She’s proved beyond doubt that she’s strong, capable, and every bit as much of a psycho as I am.

My little bird isn’t broken anymore. The bars of her cage have burst open, and I don’t know how to close them again, or if trying to will make me lose her forever.

But when betrayal slips into our world, we’re forced to learn how to stand as one, or watch our marriage crumble and burn.

Control, obedience, freedom, and everything in-between, I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.

Because she always has, and always will be, my obsession.

We meet this couple again and reminder we know Sebastian is a walking talking red flag. Sometimes I wanna smack him at how cruel he was because he wanted his wife to be near him 24/7 he was scared at losing her. So I get it I felt for poor Star but secretly she wanted this. So she was staying home doing school work and angry giving Sebastian the silent treatment until Sebastian remember how to get his wife happy. And himself happy which was Freeuse so yeah sex lol. He would use her (they talked about this ages ago) and they both enjoyed it and the lives started to calm down. Until someone invaded there pricy and tried to blackmail Star with pictures of them having sex.

So you see them as a couple being pyshcos. Trying to find who the person is and ruining there lives. It was fun to watch. And to have allll the gang be apart of it. Also a suprise about there family is growing;)

The story is dark, romantic and steamy with some suspense. The story continues after the end of Book 4. This book focuses on the first couple i.e Starling and Sebastian. It focuses on the change in their dynamic after Book 4. The story is engaging and will envelope its readers. It is a highly recommended book for readers who like this genre.

Personal Take:
The story was just what I needed and didn’t realise it. It was a perfect end to the series. I hope the author comes out with more books like this soon.

I was so happy when Gemma announced that Sebastian and Starling were getting another book, and this definitely didn't disappoint!

Sebastian is as crazy as normal, but I loved seeing Starling being stronger against him and them both working together in the craziest ways to get rid of a threat. Oh, and of course the spice is definitely spicing in this one but then what else would you expect from a Gemma book?

Really hope we get to see more of these Alphaholes in the future!

****MY TAGS CONTAIN SPOILERS!!***

You must read the previous four Alphaholes books before you pick this up! Having said that, this review is going to be for the entire five book series. First of all, the MMCs in this series are the most OTT, possessive, manipulative, controlling, psychotic, sex crazed, toxic, emotionally abusive group I've ever read, and they *never* apologize for their terrible actions. I hate those types of heroes, and I don't enjoy noncon/dubcon and body betrayal either. I also usually avoid college age characters these days. In addition, although I'm a very easygoing reader, I need at least a bit of realism, and the money and power these 21 year old psychos possess is extremely unrealistic. Plus, I don't care how young you are, no one can have sex six times in a row without having to deal with some painful repercussions lol.

Having said all of that, I binged this series SO DAMN HARD; I gobbled all of this nonsense up like I hadn't eaten in a week. I'm tempted to get a brain MRI right now, because I'm completely unable to explain why this series is going to live in my head for years. The first book seems to receive the most raves, but I was very uncomfortable with everything the FMC was put through. The poor girl developed anxiety, and I know way too much about mental health issues, so I definitely didn't love it. My brain transplant apparently occurred sometime during the second book though, because I felt each book was better than the one before. By the time I got to the fourth book, I was practically kicking my feet in the air with every unhinged action the MMC performed. By the end of the series, I was left wondering, "WTF? WHO AM I?!?" Clearly, my brain has been inhabited by an alien.

The author includes a content warning at the beginning of each book, and it needs to be taken seriously! Don't be one of those annoying readers who clutches their pearls and gives a book a low rating filled with complaints about all of the toxic behavior that you were warned about in advance!! IMO, all of this toxicity doesn't prove that the author hates women, it just demonstrates that she's very good at writing fictional train wrecks.

If you think you can handle reading about psychotic men and decide to give this series a try, buckle up. All's fair in love and war, and in this series, love is war!

TBH i can't stand this couple anymore, i barely liked them in their first book but then in all the other couples book they kept being more present than the main couples and kept being annoyng lol.
Now in this new entry as a continuation of their story i couldn't read it, it was repetitive AF again, i read it till around 30% and the plot was still was repetitive of the things happened in the previous book also repetitive talking too.... for example what she thought for her self , a repeat when she is talking about the same thing with her friend ,then with the doctor, etc... 🙄🙄🙄🙄
i gave up, i don't care about this couple anymore , so annoying .

I have loved Gemma Weir's Obsession series, but my least favorite couple in the series was Sebastian and Starling. I am so happy they received a second book, as I loved seeing their relationship development, especially now that they are married. I appreciated that Starling didn't fold under Sebastian's threats, but instead found a way to be his true equal, while honoring the dynamics of their relationship. Overall, it was the perfect ending to their story and to the other couples within the series. Gemma teased a next-gen series at the end, so I am definitely curious to see where that will go.

3.25 🌟

this was pure vibes tbh, especially the second half

but I'd honestly be so sat for a second gen series. especially evan's son with this couple's daughter 👀

I especially loved that the author didn't try to mend the relationship between the fmc and her mother. I would've been so pissed 😭

wow. wow. wow

I freaking loved every minute of this.

I love Sebastian and Starling. They’re both psychos. Starling was broken for a long time but when she recovered, she was stronger and yup, you guess it, also a psycho. She was brought down by them, it only makes sense that she was rebuilt that way.

I was scared for these toxic lovebirds with the events of the last couple of books. I’m so grateful Gemma came back to them and made them right.

Starling has changed so much and Sebastian had to learn to love the new version of his wife. His way of fixing it was HAWT!!!!!!!! Seriously, I love how it started because him taking control of her body and her submitting to him, let him relax again.

I loved how honest this found family is with each other. I love how loyal and protective they all are.

I want to live in this world for years. Hopefully we see more of this group in the future.

We thought the series was finished and the story was over. I’m so glad we were wrong!

This was such an amazing book! It’s full of more insanity and psycho club shenanigans than ever before! I loved getting to read as Starling and Sebastian found a more functional way forward because I know it was tough to watch Sebastian kind of lose it at the end of the last book and it made for a deliciously spicy story to read about how they found their way forward.

I loved watching Sebastian let Starling show her psycho a little and stand shoulder to shoulder as a member of the psycho club.

I loved getting to see each couple and watch the whole group together in this book. The entire scene at the pool with everyone was probably my favorite part!

This series has been so good I’m sad to see it end! I’m excited and hopeful that we might one day get a second generation series.

Wow the book was brilliant didn’t think going into the book that I would enjoy it simply because I didn’t think that Gemma could put together a story that would top the original book of Sebastian and starling, but was I wrong, not only did he show all of the craziness that he is capable of, but also his softer side and I loved how starling found her strength and the woman who she was all along, loved how the other characters in the series played a part and how the series finished (but was left open). If you like a story with Over the Top Men who will literally do anything to get the woman they set there sights on and I mean anything (so not for the faint hearted) it has dominance , Coercion, sexual, manipulation Start at the beginning of the series with Obsession buckle up and enjoy the ride ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Holy shit!

Holy shit! When I realised that we were getting more Sebastian and Starling, I was so excited but also doubtful in equal measures. Excited because well duh!! But doubtful because I wondered how their last book could ever be topped!
But my god!! I take all the doubtfulness back because she hit it out of the freaking stratosphere!!! I honestly cannot formulate the words to adequately describe this book and how it made me feel. And how perfect it is!!!
Just go and read. One click the shit out of it!!

This book is a 5 star read. However, I am taking the entire series following the story of Starling and Sebastian into consideration. I don’t normally do this. This book would prob be a 3.5 to 4 star if not. However, it was a good steamy conclusion to their story. I felt like there needed something else with their story after Hunter and Bunny’s book regarding Starling and Sebastian’s relationship. However, this book was just sex. But sex with a purpose in healing their chemistry I guess. Idk it’s just my opinion.

I was kind of hoping for some revenge for Starling or groveling from Sebastian.

They are mostly happy but he thinks she will leave him because she helped their friend escape her friend's relationship. Now he is really concerned she will flee.

There was a lot of butt stuff which seemed repetitive.

You really need to read the earlier books to see how they started.

Also she is getting her degree but doesn't plan to get a job so that seemed pointless.

I loved the series

I loved Sebastian’s and Starling’s story. The first two books are my favorite. It was nice to read about Hunter and Bunny Evan and Sammy and Clay and January. I wish there was a little more about Hunter and Starling’s relationship. This book definitely felt shorter than the rest. I would recommend it if you aren’t too comfortable with a lot of spice. Bastian wasn’t too morally gray in this book and seemed more reformed.

Best alphahole series EVER

Wow. This is the first review I've ever written. I love to read and do do ferociously. This book this series gave so much. From the good to bad characters. It had me from Obsession to the end of Oblivion. Really wasn't sure Obedience would hit the mark but wow. The characters the story plots held me to every word. I desperately hope the next gen talk no scream at Gemma to write their stories.

It was lovely to see Sebastian and Sterling again, and although I thought we might get a groveling Sebastian and a more stand-up Sterling, it was still a good story for them. She accepts his psychopath nature, acknowledging that their love is toxic and full of red flags, but it’s the only life she wants.

I love this series

I love how intense this series is! I’ve read all of Gemma Weirs books and this series is its own kind of dark and crazy and intensity that makes it so amazing and can’t stop reading. I really hope the series keeps going!

Oh my goodness...

Just when you thought they couldn't get better, this book tops the rest. I loved every page of it and still want more from the psycho club. I could not put this book down while reading. Another amazing alphahole book by Gemma.

Should have quit at one.....

This was a disappointment. She was trying to build on the popularity of Obsession and it fell flat. It was just sex and repetition with a tiny side plot at the end. Don't waste your money or time.

Should have stopped at book one.
The characters are too over the top and dramatic.
All the sex and repetitive monologues made the story boring and drag-on.

The story revolves around Sebastian and Starling’s marriage and how they “repair/strengthen” their relationship after the thing with Bunny… but in their own way. Of course, it involved a lot of sex, which is not new as I think it’s their main way of communication. I thought it would tackle more of Starling’s healing journey but it really didn’t because of the plot with Courtney that showed how the psycho club still works and never changed—they just got worse. Still liked the story though and I enjoyed reading this one than their main story.

I’m actually looking forward to the stories of the next generation of the psycho club if ever Ms. Gemma Weir write them in the future. 4 stars!
