(Nonfiction) Summary: This book includes a variety of animals that live in the rainforest. Along with detailed pictures of each animal, there is also a poem that goes along with each.
Evaluation: The pictures are very intricate. I liked the poems that went along with each animal and I thought they were cute. Each poem also included quite a bit of information, even though the poems were quite short.
Teaching Idea: This book could be used for an introduction to a research assignment. I would use this book for probably 2nd Grade because this research topic would be simple. This book could be read and the students could choose which animal they would like to know more about. The students would then research the animal they chose and create some form of presentation to show to the class. Another idea could be that the class could be split into groups and do a group research project. There are 8 animals in the book, so the class could be split into 8 groups so that each group has a different animal to research. Than they would present their findings to the class at the end. For either scenario, the students could research where in the rainforest their animal lives, where on the earth does their animal live (Ex: what country(ies)), what their animal eats, what type of animal it is (herbivore, carnivore, omnivore), etc.
