Don't buy a scrawny, mass-produced bonsai tree from the shopping mall. Grow your own by cooperating with its natural growth direction as you sculpt it into its greatest potential beauty. Learn how to pick a specimen, how to estimate its age, and how and when to replace the soil, plus tips on techniques, containers, and combating pests. All aspects of daily care are covered.
A wonderful book for bonsai beginners. Very few bonsai beginners have the money to purchase mature or even partly mature bonsai trees. Many folks, including myself, who attempt to cultivate bonsai can only afford very young trees and bushes from the local gardening store. This book offered very helpful advice on cutting and shaping even the smallest of trees. A must read for anyone hoping to grow their own bonsai plant.
