Burning Hollow, Tennessee has always been a town divided. For a century, the powerful Bickmore and Banks families fought for control, creating generational wounds that never healed. When an EMP attack plunges America into chaos, that bitter feud ignites in unfathomable ways.
Rowdy Banks never planned to return to the holler, but the need for family pulled him back to the holler he once called home, straight into the path of Chloe Bickmore and her daughter, Everleigh. Caught in an apocalyptic nightmare, the three collided in a world without trust, the rule of law, or safe harbor. But one act of humanity pitches the community into anarchy, one that will either save them or destroy everything.
Across six books the struggle to survive runs from back-roads to barricades, escalating from stragglers and small militias to a military invasion. The holler's only chance is to pull its forces tight and harden its defenses. If the survivors hope to survive, bitter rivals must stand as one to protect themselves against their many encroaching enemies.
Please let this be a series! Im so sad it has come to an end & it could end no other way. I absolutely loved this, Schow does an amazing job at painting a picture so vivid, I felt the adrenaline soar through me at times, the fight scenes, I was there! I even cried twice.... I can't give you spoilers, what fun is that. Schow tells a story of what could very well happen, we have been sleeping walking, & there is a lot of sheep and stupidity out there. That being said, I can see how this could one day come to fruition. In this apocalyptic war, fight for survival saga, there is loyalty, humor, love, hate, rage, and spiritual belief. I loved it, I'm sad it's over. I absolutely feel a void and already miss the characters I lived vicariously through. Excellent read!!! Can't wait to read more of his work.
Thank you, Ryan Schow, for one of the best apocalyptic books I have ever read! This is my preferred genre, so when I saw this series offered on KU, I quickly downloaded it. I was drawn to the artwork on each of the books in the series.
I really enjoy long books, it gives you time to get to know the characters, and this series did not disappoint. I laughed, got angry and even cried. Some of the characters were unique (Catrick and Bartholomew), and lots of them relatable (Ruth and the Cody boys). Its a little scary to think this could be our world, the top headlines.
Thus is the first book of Ryan Schow that I've read and enjoyed, I will be reading more of his work!
I could certainly see the world as it is today in this series. The “political” statements made me love reading this even more because we truly have been screwed over by most of the past government administrations for years. Being the oldest of 12 kids where we all milked the cows, tended the chickens, butchered hogs, planted, harvested and helped preserve everything we grew in our huge garden I could totally relate to the female characters. At the age of seventy-one I continue to plant a large garden and preserve enough for my family and still have plenty to share. I felt like I knew the characters personally and I really hated for the series to end.
This series is just a conservative power fantasy. Good ole southern patriot boys with traditional 'Murican values vs. evil 'Murica hatin' foreigners who band together through the evil UN to take down God's chosen country. And if the foreigners aren't part of the Russian or Middle Eastern invaders, they're soulless Mexican drug lords trying to corrupt 'Murica. Anyone who believes in 'Woke' is a filthy traitor.
The only thing I didn't care for in this story was Ryan Show needs to keep negative political views and opinions out of his writing. Speaking negatively of "red" and "blue" cities" and "woke" as being a bad thing, has its place, but to me not in his writing. It has a tendency to make people who disagree with him not want to read other books written by him.
The Sunset on America Series pulled me through each and every emotion the characters felt. I was there, fighting and loving through each chapter. Ryan Schow is a master storyteller. Don’t miss this chance to experience American families fight for freedom.
The amount of cruelty, torture, blood and murder somehow is overcome by the amount of love, loyalty, sacrifice, and grit in this series. It, like the war it's about, is not for the faint of heart. But if you read it through until the end, you will have fallen in love with many characters and the beauty of east Tennessee.
I have enjoyed reading this series. It put a different spin on the EMP America with the major villains being from other countries. I loved the characters stories from start to finish. This series has romance, love, family, and action. A great read!
A great series that is well-written and keeps you engrossed the whole time to see what happens next. It is one of great character depth, and there are so many throughout the series. A great ride throughout.
Ryan has a true gift for developing characters to fall in love with. Thank you for the massive attention to detail for each of these characters. I wish this series went on forever.
