ARC Review: A Realm Of Myst And Dreams by JA Chapman Release date: 4th of November 2025
"Fairytales are not real. Repeat after me. Fairytales. Are. Not. Real. Yet somehow, they are."
After just reading that line alone, I knew I had to read this book. I was fortunate enough to be accepted as an ARC reader, and I was not disappointed!
The main characters were unique with well fleshed out back stories, which made them so real and easy to fall in love with.
The story itself was paced well and flowed so smoothly. The spice was, well, spicy but did not overpower the storyline or seem out of place. It was truly a joy to read. I will be eagerly awaiting the next instalment in The Fae of Caeldonia series.
I received this book as a ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was so good! I loved that she took the fairytale aspect and made it the cross into reality. The twists and turns in this book had me never wanting to put it down.
The world building was so good. It felt like walking into a fairy tale of my own! The love between all the characters so was pure and sweet it was beautiful the way it was written. How everyone had everyone’s back.
Rowan was written in a way that was so relatable it was refreshing! Her relationship with Aenan was so stinking funny!! Seriously those two kept me in stitches and also made you envy how he’d have her back through it all.
Now let’s talk about Caelan 🥵🥵🥵🥵 LAWWDDDDDD!!! I seriously could not! There was a part where I thought it was all going south(if you know you know) but thankfully that wasn’t the case. He would burn the worlds for Rowan. And she’s there for it(so am I)! The spice was SPICYYYY and so realistic and well written. It didn’t feel overwhelming or overdone.
I also love that it didn’t end in a jaw dropping cliffhanger, although it did leave you wanting so much more!!! All in all this book was great and I can’t wait to see where everyone’s story takes them in book 2!!!
I was an ARC for this book so no spoilers from me, you will just have to read it for yourselves! You won’t be sorry! It’s amazing ♥️
I’ve been waiting for this!!!!! I’ve been waiting for this!!!
This book! Is a book to read like yesterday…
Just everything 😍😍
I was hooked on the first few pages! So many mystery’s, something to get your brain ticking for sure!
The romance oh my good god the romance, “good morning gorgeous.” Kissing the hand! Awww my knees are weak!
(Ring ring, Ring ring.) yeah hello can I order 1000 of him please and thank you.
I most certainly have a new book boyfriend which I am NOT mad about he’s even made it to number one!… Against Kai Azar too… very tough contender… but here we are at number one!
Anyway… enough about the romance…
The bonds between brother and sister are amazing! It literally shows how annoying brothers can be.. (lovingly of course.) but also how sassy sisters can be but when one’s in trouble the whole world gets ripped apart till you find them!
Then characters you HATE… that’s a strong word so I use it with force too!
Which shows good writing as you feel within yourself feelings for all characters some amazing some you just want to ughhhh!!!!
I felt so much reading this book a lot of emotions to work through to OH MY GOSH! To are you kidding me are you blind… Seriously someone kill them already…
I’m a pretty expressive reader… so I’m kinda glad I wasn’t being watched, people would have thought me mad…
Also it’s the first book to actually make me laugh out loud multiple times.
Also I’ve found my favourite quote from this book! “ you did not break, and you will not break now.”
I have to say it’s my favourite read so far this year… I can’t wait for the next book.
As there were two cliffhangers not one but two… so that was a little mean… 😅 ♥️♥️
October is a month of magic and rebirth - where the air gets cooler, nature unfurls brilliant colors for all to look upon in wonder, and the veil between worlds gets thinner.
In the Scottish Highlands, where lore of the fae and magic exists in every corner, we start our story with Rowan who has just lost both of her parents and is seeking out her place in the world. She has always felt different, like she didn’t quite belong, and the loss of her parents propels her on a journey of self discovery to a place she has always felt called to but has never dared venture.
Rowan heads into the unknown as she stumbles into the fae realm on the eve of Samhain and uncovers the truth buried by her family 25 years prior.
A Realm of Myst and Dreams captured my interest immediately from page one. We are thrust into a world of beauty, magic, temptations, and secrets. The romance element did move a little quicker than I prefer (I love a slow burn), but the character development, world-building, and plot were well thought out and moved at a good pace to keep me invested in the story. The last half was full of both action and heartbreak, deepening my connection to our FMC and to her character arc. The epilogue definitely leaves us on a cliffhanger with a lot of questions heading into book two.
If you’re craving a cozy adventure full of mystery and romance and are into fated bonds, fae lore, prophecies, found family, hidden identities, and magical gifts, I highly recommend diving into the world JA Chapman has crafted!
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel — the kind of story that turns “just one more chapter” into staying up far too late to finish, and it was entirely worth it.
As a Scot, I especially appreciated the subtle Scottish themes interwoven throughout the narrative. Although the story begins as a slow burn, it gradually draws the reader in until it’s impossible not to become deeply attached to all three main characters.
The book evokes a sense of Outlander infused with elements of magic, creating a beautifully atmospheric and immersive world. I found myself reading it in a single day, completely captivated by the unfolding plot.
The ending was both unexpected and thrilling, leaving the story on a cliffhanger that ensures readers will eagerly anticipate the next installment. Unlike many novels where the direction feels predictable, this one continually surprised me. The author’s world-building, character development, and emotional depth are truly outstanding.
At one point, I was so moved that I found myself in tears — a rare experience for me as a reader — which speaks volumes about the story’s emotional resonance.
Overall, this is a beautifully written, emotionally rich novel that skillfully blends magic, mystery, and heart. I eagerly await the next book in the series and commend the author for crafting such a compelling and unforgettable read.
I enjoyed this book and how easy it was to lose myself in the fantasy world of the Fae. There was twist and turns, spice, found family, and fated mates.
For me, there was a new take on bonds that I really enjoyed, and the whole world building and characters were really enjoyable.
I love how different the 2 Realms and the way they interwine are. I laughed, I gasped, and I cried throughout this book, I'm looking forward to book 2 because this does end on a cliffhanger.
The characters are so well written. this is a very enjoyable book with a nice plot, romance, and fantasy elements.

🌳 Soul Bonds 🌳 Fated Mates 🌳 Fae/Human 🌳 Found Family 🌳 Prophecies and curses 🌳 Good vs Evil Spice: 🌶🌶🌶 Stars: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Did I use my flexitime to leave work early and finish this book, why yes I did! I really enjoyed this, its a fairytale dipped in darkness and it's giving Brother's Grimm vibes because of it. I loved it and I cannot wait for the next installment 🖤.
I could give away so many spoilers because I am dying to talk about this book, so I really had to police myself with this review.
Firstly, I love a book based in Scotland. The country is gorgeous and the world building was beautifully written to encapture that.
Rowan
You cant help but fall for Rowan, our FMC, she is just so normal and relatable. She is full of insecurities and doubts that have followed her throughout her life yet she's so full of hope and so damn strong when her world is turned upside down and darkness closes in around her. I felt all of her loss, pain, joy, suffering, hope, love, lust (looking at you Caelan 😉). This was emotional whiplash and I loved it. My heart shattered with Rowan's at a certain scene (trying desperately not to spoil it!). After all she endures she never breaks and I was willing her through the pages to just keep fighting.
"I think I'm melting. Yes I am definitely melting."
Caelan
Caelan is so steadfast and always so considerate towards Rowan. He feels like a warm blanket being wrapped around you in the cold, albeit a sexy one. This man has the self control of a saint, but once his control slips its fireworks all the way! Loved the banter between Caelan and Aenan and hope to see more from the pair in the next book.
"Aye Lass" so simple, and yet everytime I just swoon 😍
"Not a God, lass. Just a man." Oh but the man you are 💕
"Come for me, little bird. Fly for me"
Aenan
Aenan is so cheeky and playful, what a great supporting character. The relationship between Rowan and Aenan is so funny and loving, he really takes his role so seriously and cares so much for her. I cant wait to learn more about him in the next book.
Valen
Oh Valen, you tricky evil peace of work. I cant decide if I want a redemption arc for you or to see sweet revenge rain down on you. I do not promote violence, but if anyone deserves a punch to the face it is you dear Valen. As far as villians go Valen oozes wickedness and it is so easy to hate him.
Wonderfully written, addictive reading, bring on book 2!
Honest opinion given on this wonderful book I received as ARC:
Okay, listen. I did that thing again — you know, the Bookworm Emergency Stop. I literally paused reading because I saw how many minutes I had left on Kindle and went, “Nope. If I don’t finish, it can’t end.” Perfectly logical, right? 😂 I literally stopped reading this book for two days, yes two days, so the story wouldn’t end.
But here’s the thing: A Realm of Myst and Dreams by JA Chapman deserves that reaction!! This isn’t just another fantasy romance: it’s a whole experience. It’s like walking into the Scottish Highlands and finding the mist whispering secrets meant only for you.
Rowan completely stole my heart. She’s this beautifully flawed, quietly fierce woman who doesn’t realise she’s meant for something more — until she quite literally steps through a veil of mystery and into the fae realm of Caeldonia. The writing? Absolutely addictive. Chapman doesn’t just tell a story; she weaves a spell. I swear you can almost hear the accent of the Highlands in her book. And those Scottish words sprinkled throughout? Chef’s kiss. It made the world feel alive!
And then there’s Caelan. My current fictional emotional husband. Dreamy, strong, devoted — if he showed up with a bow of moonlight and an accent that could melt snow, I’d simply perish. 🫠 I’ll happily accept him as my birthday and Christmas gift, for years to come that is.
The worldbuilding is lush, magical, and somehow both wild and comforting at the same time. There’s danger and darkness, but also warmth and the sense of home that Rowan has been craving her whole life.
If you love stories where love feels like destiny, where the air hums with magick, and where fairytales are maybe a little too real: this book will sweep you away and not disappoint you whatsoever. I laughed out loud with this book and wiped away a few tears, this book brought all the emotions and then some.
⭐️ 10/5 stars. I’m not joking — this is going to be my favourite read of the year!!
A Lush, Magical Beginning to a Promising Fantasy Series
A Realm of Myst and Dreams by J.A. Chapman is a captivating start to The Fae of Caeldonia series that blends classic fae lore with fresh world-building and a touch of dark whimsy. Chapman crafts an ethereal realm that feels richly layered and immersive, where dreams blur with reality and danger hides behind beauty.
The story follows [insert protagonist’s name if desired] as they are drawn into the magical world of Caeldonia, where political intrigue, ancient powers, and otherworldly beings converge. Chapman’s writing is vivid and atmospheric, painting the realm in lush detail without overwhelming the reader. The descriptions of the fae courts, the shifting landscapes, and the mystical elements are especially strong, evoking a sense of both wonder and tension throughout.
Character development is solid, especially for a first book in a series. The protagonist's arc feels grounded, and the supporting cast adds depth and intrigue to the larger narrative. Some relationships felt like they could have used a bit more buildup, but there’s clear potential for further development in future installments.
The pacing is mostly well-balanced, though there were moments where the plot meandered or felt slightly weighed down by exposition. Still, it never lost momentum for long, and the payoff in the final chapters leaves you eager to dive into book two.
Overall, A Realm of Myst and Dreams is an enchanting and ambitious debut that sets the stage for an exciting series. J.A. Chapman has created a realm worth returning to, full of secrets, fae politics, and dreamlike peril. A must-read for fans of atmospheric fantasy with a touch of darkness.
Wow, I’m blown away by this book. My ratings are usually formed based on a book’s ability to make me feel, and this book did not disappoint.
Rowan, Caelan and Aenan are all so lovely, their banter and bonds are top tier and make you feel as if you know them. You’ve got a sweet, fiery, *Scottish* MMC who you will instantly fall for. You’ve got the perfect brother. Teasing, protective, supportive. And you’ve got a strong, fierce FMC who finds her home in the most unexpected way. Totally not afraid to give the bad guys a big “F you”
I also loved the secondary characters; these are well developed characters that you can’t help but root for! I love the hints to Scottish heritage and folklore, especially having ties myself, and the portrayal of the fae. Honestly, if Caelan said “lass” to me, just once…
While I loved the world building and getting to know our characters, there are some HEAVY themes within this book. Part 3 was particularly heavy. If you don’t like the trigger warnings of this book, I think you could miss out most of part 3 and it would still be a great read! You wouldn’t have all of the experiences of the characters but it would still make sense.
Dark and light, good and evil, are explored throughout this book and in such a humanising way. To see Rowan struggle with her darkest thoughts (that we all have) was so validating and relatable. Her vulnerability in places is just so raw and my heart broke several times.
I have a lot of feelings about this book and hopefully I’ve done it justice! It’s very clearly the start of a bigger story and I cannot WAIT to read more.

A Realm of Mist and Dreams by J.A. Chapman completely swept me away from the very first chapter. It’s the kind of book that feels like stepping into a dream — full of misty forests, whispered magic, and characters that stay with you long after the final page.
Chapman’s writing is poetic and immersive, painting a world that feels ancient, dangerous, and breathtakingly real. The Scottish-inspired setting adds a touch of authenticity and charm, blending folklore and fantasy in a way that feels both familiar and fresh. Every description has that soft, cinematic glow that makes you want to live inside the story.
The romance is everything a slow-burn should be — emotional, tender, and full of tension that builds with every page. The chemistry between the leads is undeniable, and their bond unfolds with just the right amount of longing and magic. Fans of fated mates, moody fantasy, and emotional depth will absolutely adore it.
What I loved most, though, is how Chapman balances beauty and darkness. There’s a haunting undertone that makes every moment feel precious — like love and danger are always just a breath apart. It’s more than a fantasy; it’s a story about courage, destiny, and finding light in the fog.
If you enjoy lush worldbuilding, complex characters, and romance that makes your heart ache in the best way, this is a must-read. I can’t wait for the next book in the series — J.A. Chapman has crafted a world I never want to leave.
And yet, as soon as I opened A Realm of Myst and Dreams, I found myself whispering the opposite—because this book feels real in the best, most enchanting way.
Rowan’s journey is equal parts heartache, wonder, and self-discovery. From the haunting pull of dreams she can’t explain to the windswept beauty of the Scottish Highlands, her story feels like being lured into a waking dream; one you never want to end. The writing is lyrical and moody, perfectly capturing that misty, otherworldly magic that makes the line between fantasy and reality blur.
Then there’s Caelan. Brooding, magnetic, and impossible not to fall for. Their connection is that slow burn kind of magic. It’s the kind that hums beneath your skin and refuses to fade. What starts as a search for belonging turns into something far bigger: a fight against destiny, deceit, and the darkness that lies just beyond the veil. It’s romantic, mysterious, and threaded with that deep ache of finding home in a place you were never meant to leave.
If you love fated mates, Scottish-inspired worlds, dark fae intrigue, and slow-burn romance with a touch of danger, this story will sweep you away.
Fairytales might not be real—but after this, you’ll wish they were.
"In case I haven’t made myself clear, lass. I adore you”
✨ Book Review – A Realm of Myst and Dreams by J.A. Chapman ✨
Rating: 4 / 5
📖 Spoiler-free summary:
Rowan has always felt different - like she doesn’t quite belong in her world. Haunted by dreams of a place she’s never seen, she travels to the Scottish Highlands in search of answers… and instead discovers an ancient realm of Fae, prophecy, and danger. Thrust into Caeldonia, Rowan must navigate a land of magick, secrets, and dark forces that threaten to unravel everything — including her heart.
💭 My thoughts:
I really enjoyed this read! The atmosphere and the worldbuilding were all perfection. I especially liked the Scottish accent that Caelen had as well - it was a nice change!
This is by no means a slow burn… it’s fated mates and instant chemistry right from the start, and I was so here for it! Rowan and Caelan’s connection felt electric, and their romance flowed beautifully throughout the story.
There are definitely some darker moments woven in, but they just add to the depth and intrigue of the plot.
Overall, A Realm of Myst and Dreams was such a fun, immersive read, and I’ll absolutely be picking up book two when it’s released.
📅 Release Date: 4th November 2025
If you love fae stories, magic, and a touch of darkness — make sure this one’s on your TBR!
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was very intrigued by the premise of this book, and the author’s writing made for an atmospheric and immersive world that I could really picture myself in. However, I found the pacing of the narrative somewhat off putting—everything happened so suddenly, but not in an exciting, dynamic way. It was more jarring than anything. The relationship dynamic between Rowan and Caelan progressed in much the same way, and it came across as inauthentic. As such, I was unable to get properly invested in them as a couple.
That being said, I liked Rowan as the FMC. I feel that her character was well-rounded and interesting, with enough unique qualities to make her stand out from other FMCs in this genre. And, again, the world-building was done beautifully, and I particularly enjoyed the description of the festival that Rowan attended.
Overall, I thought this book was a little predictable with some inelegant dialogue (“…or a boyfriend waiting for you back home?”—you’re not subtle, Caelan!), teases that were too obvious (the brother’s hair, anyone?), and reveals that weren’t reveals (I wasn’t surprised by who Caelan was really). But, it did keep me reading until the end, so I’ve given it three stars.
✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨ 📖 A Realm of Mystery and Dreams - JA Chapman
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It’s safe to say I was hooked from this book from the start! I instantly fell in love with Rowan and the journey she set out on. And yes I’m biased as she is my birthday twin 💫 I love a book with a strong FMC so this was right up my street. The world building in this book is amazing! I love that I was able to fully immerse myself into the realm of Caeldonia and learn all about how that world and their magic works 🧚
Trying to keep this review spoiler free but I loved seeing the relationships develop between Aenan, Caelan and Rowan. It’s beautiful to see how they brought each other up and had such love between them. Being able to see how strong their connection becomes and how it develops is so heartwarming.
Let’s not forget to mention the romance (swoon) because yes as much as we all love the magic and the plot we love love too! Watching Rowan get to experience her true love and everything that comes with it is incredible. I have a new book boyfriend and I’m not ashamed to admit it 😝
If you love being able to dive into a new fantasy realm, fated mates and reading all about good over evil then this book is definitely one for your TBR! 🫶🏼
A Realm of Myst and Dreams by J.A. Chapman offers an intriguing premise filled with hints of myth and magic, but ultimately, the story didn’t quite deliver the impact I was hoping for. The world itself is described beautifully, and the author’s writing style shows promise with flowing descriptions and an atmospheric tone. However, the pacing felt quite slow, and the plot lacked the tension or excitement needed to fully draw me in.The main character, while sympathetic, often felt more reactive than proactive—someone to whom things simply happened rather than someone shaping her own path. Her emotional confusion and dependence on others, particularly male figures, made it harder to connect with her journey or see meaningful character growth. That said, the book’s concept and setting have real potential, and some readers will likely enjoy its dreamlike quality and romantic undercurrents. With a stronger character arc and a more dynamic narrative, this could become a more compelling series opener. Three stars for strong atmosphere, imagination, and writing with potential. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Wow... this read was a very pleasant surprise, I wasn't too sure what to expect but we had fae, found family, Fated Mates, lost identity, gifts, the right amount of spice and a few surprises along the way! I can't get enough!!
I was pulled in right from the beginning and really felt Rowan's raw emotions as she followed her journey to find the truth and got pulled into the magical land of Caledonia.
The book did had a much slower pace than I'm used to but that was far from a negative and this allowed the world building and character development to really come into play and enabled you to visualise Caledonia in all its glory. This was beautifully woven into the book and was very easy to grasp. The characters were fun and loveable and the multiple POV were such a treat.
I got to about 60% through and the plot really kicked up a notch and I could not put this down. You really felt like you were there, feeling and seeing everything... I can't wait to see what the next installation has in store.
I really loved reading this and would recommend you add this to your TBR!
Fairytales aren’t real. At least, that’s what Rowan keeps telling herself, until she’s swept into the Fae realm of Caeldonia, where magic breathes, dreams live, and destiny has sharp teeth. Haunted by strange dreams and a pull she can’t explain, Rowan journeys to the Scottish Highlands in search of answers, and finds a truth too fantastical to deny. In Caeldonia, she meets Caelan, a mysterious Fae whose presence feels like coming home. But dark forces stir beneath the surface, and Rowan soon learns that fulfilling an ancient prophecy may cost her more than she’s willing to give. The Fae of Caeldonia: A Realm of Myst and Dreams is a mesmerizing dark fantasy romance filled with lush worldbuilding, rich characters, and slow-burn tension. The pacing is seamless, the suspense tangible, and the spice perfectly balanced, steamy without ever overshadowing the story. A captivating start to a series that promises magic, danger, and one unforgettable Scottish accent. I’ll be counting down the days to book two.
A Realm of Myst and Dreams successfully launches The Fae of Caeldonia series, transporting readers from the familiar melancholy of the Scottish Highlands into the lush, dangerous world of Caeldonia. JA Chapman excels at building atmosphere, immediately capturing Rowan’s sense of displacement and her relatable struggle with insecurity.
The dynamic between Rowan and the enigmatic Caelan is handled with satisfying finesse, delivering the promised slow-burn romance and fated-mates trope effectively. The foundation of the Fae world is inherently rich, offering compelling lore and magical complexity.
However, in establishing the wider conflict particularly the dense history of the ancient prophecy and the schemes of the Dark Fae the narrative occasionally feels overloaded. A tighter focus on pacing during Rowan's initial transition to the realm would help solidify the political stakes sooner.
Overall, this is a strong, captivating start to a dark fantasy romance, perfect for readers who appreciate deeply atmospheric settings and high-stakes romantic tension.
In his arms, I found solace. I found sanctuary. I found home. I found myself
This story felt like stepping through the veil of the mist, mysterious, emotional, and quietly powerful. A Realm of Myst and Dreams pulled me in from the first moment the mist appeared.
Rowan was the beating heart of this book for me. She’s not a flawless heroine. She doubts, she falters, but she never stays down. Her strength is in how she keeps going, even when everything feels impossible. I connected so deeply to her resilience and her quiet fire.
And Caelan? He’s the kind of fae that makes you feel safe and undone at the same time. There’s a tenderness in him that balances the darker edge of this world. The chemistry between him and Rowan is undeniable, slow, intimate, and absolutely charged.
The mist concept was one of my favorite elements. A bridge between worlds that felt both magical and menacing. Chapman’s descriptions are vivid without being heavy; the fae courts, shifting lands, and dreamlike tension all came alive on the page.
A Realm of Myst and Dreams was a story that swept me away with its immersive world-building and dreamlike narrative. I liked the links to Scottish folklore and the introduction to The Fae of Caeldonia. I only took 2 days to read this!! Chapham kept this fast pace, there was always something just around the corner, and I found myself saying, “just one more chapter” far too many times. The relationships between the FMC and MMC felt deeply human — full of love, vulnerability, care and of course a bit of spice.
It was a 4 star and not a 5 star, as I felt like there was a lot left unanswered at the end of the book, it might however be picked up again in following books. That said, if you’re looking for a fantasy read with a strong romantic core, rich atmosphere, and a unique Scottish twist, A Realm of Myst and Dreams is definitely worth adding to your TBR. I’m already looking forward to what’s next in the series!
What a beautifully written book that made you feel like you're stepping into the world yourself! I was instantly drawn into this book for making a comment about beginning in a small town in the north-west of England, which is where I'm from, so I could straight away place myself into the story and picture how it looked. As the story progressed, the descriptions of Scotland and then Caledonia were so thorough that it was easy to imagine how the world looked! The relationship between Rowan and Caelan was *chefs kiss* 🤌🏼😘 while sometimes it could feel a little rushed, this was all well explained with their fated mate bond and fit well into their story. I did feel a bit lost towards the end as once Rowan and Caelan had their ceremony, there was no mention of the dark fae and what happened to them BUT I expect this will be explained in the next book so it's left me on tenterhooks which I imagine is what the author was hoping for! 💕 Definitely recommend reading this!
This book had me hooked from the start. I loved the world building, and found it extremely interesting. The crossovers between the human realm and Caeldonia had me hooked on every page, and I loved the quick, smooth pacing. The cliffhanger made my heart jump though 😭
As for the characters, I adored Rowan and her relationships with Caelan and Aenan. Caelan is such a sweetheart, and I need him SO BAD. He is IMPOSSIBLE not to fall for, I loved the way his relationship with Rowan progressed throughout the book. The bond between Aenan and Rowan was adorable as well; pure and filled with love.
Overall, this gets five stars from me. I'd definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves fated mates, secret identities, and tender romance. Thank you so much to JA Chapman for the ARC!
JA Chapman has absolutely captured my heart with A Realm of Myst and Dreams.
The worldbuilding is pure magic, weaving prophecy and fae enchantment with Scottish folklore, painting vivid pictures of the highlands in my mind. I could almost smell the mossy woods and hear the bustle of the little market, its merchants offering their curious gifts.
I adored the relationships Rowan built with both Caelan and Aenan. Caelan’s quiet respect and care for her after that ordeal had me tearing up. When he washed her hair while she was so broken… oof. My heart.
Now I’m left with a million questions heading into book two. Who is Valerian? Will Vaeyl finally get his comeuppance? And that epilogue - I’m not ok!
This book was such a fun time. This book ended in such a soul-crushing way I absolutey cannot wait for the next one. Rowan’s journey from grieving daughter to fae heir is everything I want in a fantasy arc. Emotional, powerful, and soaked in myth. Caelan has the perfect protective, broody, and deeply loyal energy. Their relationship feels earned, slow-burn, and full of heart.
I thought the world itself was so atmospheric and cinematic. I definitely got ACOTAR vibes with all the fae courts and political intrigue, but I also got the same feelings I did with Throne of Glass. Full of emotion and heartbreak.
An absolutely fantastic read!

✨A Realm of Myst and Dreams by J.A. Chapman ✨ This book gave me Outlander vibes — but make it fae! This book was magical, immersive, and lots of fun. The worldbuilding was lush and enchanting, and the romance? Absolute perfection. The MFC was such a “go-with-the-flow” queen — adaptable, strong, and easy to root for. She just rolled with everything like “yeah sure I’m in a fae realm now,” and I love her for it. And MMC?? CHEF’S. KISS. 😘🤌🏼 If you love adventure, found family, fae, and a romance that hits all the right notes, you need to pick this one up. It’s the kind of story that makes you wish you could step right into its world. 🌙✨

"No matter where life takes us, no matter what trials we may face, I belong to you. My heart belongs to you. My soul. Now and forever, I love you"
This man's monologues about his love for our FMC has me in a chokehold. This man LOVES HER, and I am absolutely here for it. I enjoyed the world building as well as the character development, and it leaves me so excited for book 2! Did not end on a devastating cliffhanger, but the epilogue has me craving more.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I was really looking forward to this book as I’m Scottish and love romantasy but I was left unfortunately wanting a bit more from this book!
The overall concept and plot was interesting but I felt like the book could have been so much longer as I found the story quite rushed. I wanted more action from it, the main action scene was really short and I felt the love interests also quite fast paced which didn’t make sense to me in the beginning.
Overall I enjoyed it and would read more of these characters and I just wish there was more packed into the story so it wasn’t so disjointed to me!
Absolutely loved this book! It was great to have some Scottish folklore about changlings and there being a fae relm on the other side of the veil. The romance was great and the spicy scenes were spicy 🌶️ it’s action packed and adventurous, some parts I was almost tearing up because some scenes just really hit my feelings! You can feel the betrayals and the love and hate in this book because it’s so well written! I can’t wait for the next book.
If you haven’t read this book then you need to add it to your TBR or buy it, which I am going to do for my trophy shelf!
I could not put this book down! What I expected was Fae, some spice, maybe a little flirty banter with a hot MMC… what I did NOT expect was the absolute sobbing mess I’d be for most of the second half of the book! But my goodness it is a touching story with all these feelings and it doesn’t disappoint. You fall in love with Rowan our FMC as life events unfold and pull her to our setting in the Scottish Highlands through which a little portal magic sends her into the fae realm and into Caelan’s(MMC) care. This is only the beginning! So much happens but it’s very easy to follow and to envision yourself right along with its rich world building and character details.
Prophetic poems detail the start of each section and we follow our girl through some terrible ordeals - commence tissues! The story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to follow the rest of the series!
