Three weeks until my thirtieth birthday.

Two months until my father's lawsuit destroys me.

And one impossible proposal.

Davian Pierce, pro wrestling's most notorious heel, party-crashes my happy life at burlesque lounge Titter with an offer I can't afford to refuse.

Marry him. Inherit the wrestling empire my father destroyed. Solve all our problems.

Simple, right?

Wrong.

Because Davian wants revenge, and I want nothing to do with the empire that ended my mother and brother’s lives.

Because living with The Darkness means facing attraction we're both trying to ignore.

Because ‘business arrangement’ doesn't cover the way he looks at me when he thinks I'm not watching.

My father always said I was a disappointment.

Maybe he's right.

Because I'm falling for a man who lies like he breathes, who's hiding secrets behind slate grey eyes, and who'll burn everything down to get what he wants.

Fire dancing taught me to control flames.

But Davian Pierce? He's got the kind of heat that leaves scars.

Good thing I'm not afraid to play with fire.

This is book six in the “Backbone & Burlesque” series, which is best read in order. Titter’s fire dancer Naomi has built herself a new life and found a loving family after escaping the grip of her father and the suffocation of his wrestling empire W.A.R. Approaching her thirtieth birthday and facing a legal nightmare, she is tracked down by Davian “The Darkness” Pierce, a former W.A.R. wrestler, who wants them to get married to take revenge on Naomi’s father for the way he has treated them both. As Naomi gets drawn back into W.A.R., she finds herself attracted to what she could create there, and to Davian himself. But will Davian’s relentless pursuit of revenge extinguish Naomi’s flame and the growing bond between them?

Naomi’s journey from W.A.R. ring girl to fire dancer is complex and emotional. She has suffered devastating losses but finds peace in performing with fire and with her supportive Titter family. When faced with Davian’s proposal, she is thoughtful and rationale about her decision and continues to be as reality crashes in and the emotional costs escalate. At first Davian appears to be a one-dimensional villain with no thought about the fallout of his plan for Naomi or W.A.R. but as events unfold, he opens not only his mind to the consequences he has caused, but also his life and heart to Naomi. Faced with an impossible decision, Davian wrestles with a choice which might plunge him into true darkness.

Scorch is, at its heart, full of passion for performance and people, packed with devastating secrets and betrayals and a rollercoaster of emotions which could not be scripted. Naomi and Davian challenge, tear down and build up each other as they battle to resurrect W.A.R. and protect their hearts from each body blow they face. Supported by the unique characters of Titter, and the charismatic and quirky W.A.R. wrestlers, this little world continues to inspire and captivate me and I’m looking forward to the next instalment!

Being welcomed back into the Titter world was wonderful and meeting the wonderful fire dancer Naomi as her past begins to dreged up when exwrester Davian searches her out with a mindset of revenge on Naomi's father the owner of WAR. This story with the elecktic characters from Titter bring out the best in each other and ofter the guidance and support in any time of need. I loved the connection between Naomi and Davian and chemistry and learning to accept each others indiviuality. Can not wait for Shatter to arrive.
