Walking with God; 101 Lessons for Life and Ministry by Dr. Stephen Gammon is a treasure. Over the course of 14 chapters of various stages of his life, he shares treasured personal stories and insights of his own walk with God, starting with his walk with God as a Child through adolescence to young adulthood.

He shares the stories and his struggles to hear God’s voice and leading on his life. He lays open his heart as he shares God’s tender mercy at the premature birth, and subsequent passing of both a son and a daughter. He shares the trials of a young husband and a new pastor and onward through his lifetime of service to the Lord.

Begin at the beginning to see the chronology of events that define Dr. Gammons’ life. Or as the author suggests – begin by starting at the chapter that identifies with your stage in life. Either way you will not be disappointed. Each of the fourteen chapters contains short stories of hope and blessings – along with three Life Application Questions - that will cause you to long for that type of life. A life lived in trusting service to God.

I feel blessed to have been able to read this book. It has clearly opened my eyes to challenge my own complacency. Thank you Dr. Gammon.

Steve Gammon has been a friend for many years. We’ve known him as a pastor, as our Conference Minister (CCCC denomination), and I prayed for him through his time as a Navy chaplain at Guantanamo. But I had not known him as a writer. We traded books last July, and for 101 days I drank in his Lessons for Life and Ministry. And lessons they were. Deep, rich glimpses into God’s activity in and through Steve and his wife Helen. Their commitment to being shaped by God and to being open for the unexpected. A lifelong centering of their lives in Kingdom reality.

Steve and Helen gulped hard when their 14-year-old daughter Amy wanted to go on a 2-month trip to southern Africa, at a cost of $5000. They tried to reason with her, talk her out of the endeavor. Amy would have none of it. “ ‘Dad! Is ANYTHING too hard for God?’ ” She prevailed, and along with other teens, was instrumental in healing the shriveled legs of one man and the blind eyes of another.

This is Steve Gammon’s God, and he writes with beauty and power and conviction. Thank you, Steve, for mentoring me over 101 days.

Very helpful to me.

I enjoyed this mini version book for numerous reasons. One thing for certain, the stories in this book can open your eyes to the small and big ways that God helps us daily in our walk with Him. I plan to purchase the extended version and I recommend this book to everyone.
