Take a 10 minute break to read this quick book about setting and achieving goals. For me, it served as a great reminder that my personal development is just as valid and vital as the professional. Author Hyatt has quite a wide network of people, and each shares a personal story or quote on scheduling goals, showing gratitude, and embracing the new year. A notable quotable is from marketer Derek Halpern to "kill your darlings" if your goal doesn't create the right result and keep moving forward. And that's what I intend to do in 2017.
This was a real short read but I think we as a society need to start thinking about how we are going to live our best year/life. "Our days make our weeks, our weeks make our months, our months make our years". Our we spending the most time on the things that will give us the most value!
I am a fan of Michael Hyatt. I appreciate his written work, and his podcast.
While I'm generally not a huge fan of "self help" books, I appreciate how Michael blends the theoretical concepts for how we live our lives with the practical.
To me the down side (and it really is minor) in this book is how it is presented as a 'system.' I tend to be less interested in systems to adopt, and more interested in concepts and ideas that I can adapt.
But still, a ton of good wisdom and a pretty quick (and enjoyable) read.
I started listening to this book at the end of last year and just recently finished. While everything wasn't new to me, there was some great insight especially in the difference between goals and habits.
Definitely worth a re read (and re re read) each new year, developing longstanding habits and goals that mean something in the long run over the course of each year, something along the lines of a new year new me self help.
This book has inspired me to set some big goals for 2019 and has given me the step by step framework to achieve them. I know I'll be returning to this book again and again for its practical advice.

Sam sa desim tejto veci, rozmýšľanie a planovanie cielov ma strasne boli, odkladam ho a mam tendenciu prokrastinovat. S tipmi z tejto knihy to vyzera byt aj na príjemný proces tento rok.
... Avsak predpoklada to, ze clovek uz ma nejaku zručnosť v planovani a review svojho života. Vela ke tam napr. o review posledneho roka. Ako si urobis review, ked si nepises veci do kalendara, nepises si dennik a poznamky? Ano, zo spomienok. To na zaciatok musi stacit.
U mna je tých zdrojov na review viac, no vidim, ze zalozenie si dennika vdacnosti bude jedným z tých kľúčových pre 2017.
