Choice of the Broken - Book Two in the Lunar Legends series
Fate has a cruel way of testing the broken, pulling Arianna down a path of rejection, betrayal, and secrets. She knows her Pack will never accept her. Her Alpha offers little support, and the Moon Goddess seems to have no plan of granting her a mate—no matter how much she longs for one.
But hope has a way of shining through the darkness—especially when it comes in the form of steel-grey eyes belonging to one of three brothers. A wolf she should avoid, as he spells nothing but trouble and heartbreak. Yet he always seems to be there when she needs someone most.
And when Arianna shines the brightest, old enemies stir and an ancient power resurfaces—one she is tied to more closely than she ever imagined. Arianna finds herself facing choices that threaten not only her own life, but everyone she holds dear.
Is she strong enough to withstand the repercussions of her choices—or will they break her once more?
Choice of the Broken is a romantic supernatural fantasy filled with spice, flawed heroes, and unforgettable characters. Dive into a world of werewolf bonds, deadly magic, and choices that would break anyone.
Claundra has been in love with stories for as long as she can remember. From the moment she could read, she found herself lost in books, enchanted by the power of words and the worlds they created. But she wasn’t just a reader—she was a storyteller. Even as a child, she would weave her own tales, scribbling down stories in notebooks or crafting entire worlds in her mind before drifting off to sleep—a habit that hasn't left her yet.
Though she wrote countless stories over the years, most never left the safety of her private collection. Like many writers, she struggled with self-doubt, wondering if her stories were worth sharing. But as life moved forward and she built a family of her own, she realized that the stories inside her weren’t just hers anymore—they deserved to be told. With the unwavering support of her husband and the inspiration of her children, she found the courage to publish her first book, turning a lifelong dream into reality.
For Claundra, writing is more than just storytelling—it’s a journey of discovery, imagination, and self-expression. Her ideas often come in the quiet moments before sleep, where dreams and reality blur into inspiration. She embraces the creative struggles that come with being an author—moments of doubt, writer’s block, and the vulnerability of putting her work out into the world. But through it all, she remains dedicated to crafting stories that transport readers into new and exciting worlds, just as they do for her.
I'm so grateful that I got to be picked as an ARC reader for this! Overall I got a little lost at times but I enjoyed the complexity of the story, characters and development of the twists throughout the book. The first hundred pages felt rushed and scrambled, but it still did a decent job of setting the world and characters. There were definitely confusing parts and I don’t think that jumping into this series without having an understanding of what occurred in the first book is possible… I was able to reach the author and ask some questions but until about the 25% point I was still lost at times. Around halfway through more of the story shifted to focusing on our main characters, Ari and Olli. The time jumps continued to be an issue for me as a reader. It seems like so much happens during those times but it’s just expected to catch up in fleeting descriptions - like Lauren giving the egg instead of the buildup the author had given about war. The first spicy scene was descriptive but when they’re in the motel, it fell completely dead and read like “and they hugged”… it was the same with finally getting to meet Angelique, a lot of buildup for something less than a few pages. To go from one writing style to the other was a bit jarring and took me out of the story several times. The major time jump of 16 months is confusing… luckily there’s not much details to read about what happened during that time and I think certain assumptions are supposed to be made. Olli and Ari’s characters are so well rounded by this point and it’s easier to invest in the story and their relationship. I really enjoyed the complexity of the author understanding that even fated mates have to work at their relationship.
Characters review FMC: Ari, the future Luna of her pack, needs to grow a backbone in my opinion. I was so thrilled to see a FMC in a shifter romance not be a one-trick-pony and actually have mannerisms that come with her rank. However, there’s a point where you don’t take foul comments or degrading actions against yourself no matter who it’s coming from. Her introduction into the triplets lives and their mate bond came off as odd. She seemed setup for failure from the start and was immediately put into a competition of someone else’s making for the affection of the triplets. Her interactions with her mate’s pack went more smoothly than with her actual mate.
MMC: Olli, one of the triplet sons of the Beta in his pack, is the adorable asshole that this story needed. He’s the underestimated middle child who gets into fights with his family but eventually comes to realise where his heart actually lies. He treats Ari like a goddess (eventually) and doesn’t let her take the easy way out of her troubles. His true calling awakens to show him what he could be with his mate by his side.
Liked There are so many characters that have strong presence in the story and are more rounded out than most other books with this many characters (there’s a lot). It’s fast paced with new twists at every page turn. There are complicated family dynamics from both the FMC and the MMC which makes the side conversations more intriguing. I enjoyed the multi-point of view, but I do wish the author had created some distance between them.
Disliked Hector as an obstacle character for Olli makes sense, but even with his rank in the pack, you wouldn’t be able to get away with treating your future Luna like that. The writing style in general is what kept bringing me out of the book the most… The first hundred pages were confusing and felt rushed. There’s a lot of time jumps that don’t make sense for the world building and introducing the characters. The time jumps continue to be an nuisance throughout the story and it’s difficult at points to keep track of what happened. There seem to be major events that are later disregarded or simply pushed much further in the book. It was sometimes difficult to comprehend why the author would put so much time between them. The multi-point of view was refreshing but a few paragraphs from one POV, then one or two from another POV with no spacing between them was making my eyes cross at points.
Choice of the Broken was such a fun and engaging read!
Synopsis: Arianna is a hybrid, half witch, half werewolf, and the daughter of an alpha. As the future successor of her pack, she should be respected, but instead she’s treated as an outcast because of her mixed blood. At 25, she’s still unmated, which only adds to the pressure. Her father is determined to secure the future of the pack, even if that means arranging a “safe” mating for her. Arianna is sent from pack to pack in search of her mate and attends a ball hosted by the werewolf king. That’s when everything changes. She discovers she doesn’t have just one destined mate, but three. Triplets. Unfortunately, things are far from simple. The triplets already have another mate and believe there should be one mate for each of them. Torn between duty and desire, Arianna is pushed to ignore her heart and pursue the one who would be the most politically beneficial choice. Throughout her journey, Arianna faces countless challenges that force her to grow both emotionally and physically. Will she survive it all unscathed? And will she finally choose her own happiness?
Review: Choice of the Broken was fast-paced, entertaining, and simply written in the best way. It honestly reminded me of the first English books/stories I ever read, easy to get into and hard to put down. While the story does touch on some very heavy and sensitive topics (definitely check the content warnings, reader's comfort always comes first), it also balances those moments with plenty of humor and lighter scenes. The characters were well written (especially Oliver, that boy has my heart). The character development from chapter 1 all the way to chapter 51 was very noticeable and satisfying. Although this is the second book in a series, it can be read as a standalone. That said, reading the first book would definitely enhance the experience, as it provides more background and introduces several important characters. Overall, this was a book I truly couldn’t put down. A big thank you to the author for including us (epsilon sto tetragono) in her ARC team, it’s been an honor, and I can’t wait to see what she writes next!
Quotes that stayed: “I can’t do this anymore, Arianna! I can’t pretend I don’t care as much as I do. I can’t pretend anymore that I don’t want you” “You are mine” “Come on, body… I need to get to her! Before my witch does something stupid!” “Payback’s a bitch, bitch”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ this book was such a fun read I was honestly invested the whole time!! I'm a sucker for fated mates and witch romance and I adore werewolf romances I just haven't seen one that's good I'm a while and choices of the broken did not disappoint!! the romance took a second to actually pick up because there was other stuff brewing but once it did the main love interest were just so perfect for each other 🤞 it was so much fun reading and seeing all the inner turmoil that the FMC had been through and is going through was so well written . I'm excited to read more into this world thank you for the opportunity to have this arc and give an honest review!
Arianna Toward the first half of the book, I was a bit annoyed by Arianna. I understand that her upbringing caused her to lack confidence, and that it was difficult for her to go against her father and fight for what she wanted. At the same time, I wish we could have seen more of her rebellious spirit from the beginning. However, in the second half, she does get better—we see her grow stronger and truly fight for what she wants and believes in.
Oliver Oliver is the exact opposite. From the moment he is introduced, he speaks his mind and is very straightforward. I especially liked him after the halfway mark, when he really starts growing into his role and taking charge within the pack. I also loved his relationship with Arianna. He never tried to change her or boss her around; instead, he consistently supported her and helped build her confidence after she became Luna.
Plot / Storyline / Pace
The first 10–20% of the book focuses heavily on world-building and helping the reader understand Arianna’s background and her position within the pack. Once we start meeting her mates, the story begins to pick up. Overall, the pacing is decent, but it did feel a bit choppy at times—especially when introducing subplots and background information.
Another aspect that took some getting used to was the POV switching. At times, the POV shifts between characters within the same chapter and even from one sentence to the next, without page breaks. This made the reading feel disjointed and occasionally confusing. Additionally, smaller storylines and explanations for characters’ actions were sometimes introduced at odd moments. While I was able to follow the story fairly well, these elements made it feel a bit incomplete at times. The story also may have been slightly too long, as it felt like there were two major conflicts packed into one book.
‼️ END OF SPOILERS ‼️
Themes / Relatability
There isn’t much relatability since this is a fantasy story, but the themes and overall plot align well with a typical shifter romance. That said, the storyline itself felt unique, and I did enjoy the book overall.
Writing Style / Overall Feelings
Overall, I enjoyed the story and the author’s writing style. My main complaint remains the POV switches, as clearer page breaks would have helped improve readability.

All honesty I almost didn’t finish this one BUT I loved Oliver he actually made the book for me. For a paranormal romance this one definitely checked all my boxes Fated mates Slow burn Shifters, witches, hybrids OTT MMC touch her and ☠️ Found family
Adrianna is a 1/2 breed part witch part wolf and to top that off she’s the alpha daughter and next in line. She has an inner strength, but pushes it down because she wants to please her father. Just once in hopes he would see her as more than an heir. Just once to hear I love you. She ends up at a mating ceremony where everything changes. Adrianna’s world is about to get flipped upside down.
Before I get into why I dropped the ⭐️s you need to understand I read the whole book. I needed to know how it ended. The author has a phenomenal story line. I loved all the characters.
However, the flow was off. The story would jump time in the next line, or even just stop the flow of the thought. Something could be happening and then they were asleep or at dinner. I felt like I skipped pages. I personally feel the beta reader or editor should have caught this.
This is one of my most recent enjoyable reads and I can tell you that I loved it. With this review, I am openly admitting that I have a secret glee for paranormal shifter books and Claundra Knight has created an absolute delight. The internal struggle that the MFC, Arianna faces and works through is highly relatable in a dysfunctional family setting and then the courage to face life headstrong. It just so happens that she is half wolf/half witch and has to find her own inner truth before she can confront the prejudices within the pack. Light spice while keeping a continuous romantic story arc and offering several different tension levels with other characters only adds to her story. This was a very fun and entertaining read and is perfect for those that love paranormal wolf shifter books. This was an ARC and I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to devour it before release.
This book was too YA/NA for me. 25 year olds throwing tantrums and having jealous or moody fits. The love triangle/square/whatever is too dramatic and complicated. There are no happy or good relationships with any of the MC's families and they basically have no friends to speak of. The plot is interesting but the first part was all romance focused and now that seems to have taken back seat to the main story plot. I got tired of the MC's having the same pull and push in their "relationship" over and over.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Fun shifter read! This story follows our FMC, Arianna, and how she is an outcast in her pack due to being half witch. As the story unfolds, she finds the MMC, and their love story begins. The last 30ish% of the story jumps over a year forward, and more issues occur.
This book was a fun read and I liked seeing where the story aliened with book one. I can't wait to find out more about the last triplet. I didn't like our MFC in book one, but seeing her side of things in her own book really sheds a different light on her reactions and why she responded the way she did. I really felt for her.
