He’s my patient. The legend I’m supposed to heal. And the one man I’m not allowed to want.
I’m a surgeon. Rules and control are what keep me steady.
But Derek Callahan is anything but steady. He’s chaos in cleats and my biggest mistake waiting to happen.
He’s supposed to be recovering. I’m supposed to keep my distance. Instead, I’m watching the man who once owned the football field fight his way back…and fight me every step of the way.
He tests my limits and my patience. Every smug grin, every cocky wink, every inch of six-foot-two confidence he struts around with.
But beneath all that swagger is heat that pulls me in.
Our fights spark like wildfire, burning hotter every time we touch.
One forbidden night shatters every line I swore I’d never cross.
Now every glance feels criminal, every kiss a secret I can’t stop craving.
He’s chasing his comeback. I’m risking my career.
But every time he looks at me like that, I forget what’s on the line.
If anyone finds out, it might shatter my dreams and my heart.

This is a football romance with a twist. Doctor and patient vibes, off limits, forbidden, heart breaking, sweet and spicy!
I’ve never read anything by Rosie Knox before. Can I just take a minute to say I love saying that? I love reading new authors. And while she did not sky rocket to the top of my favorite author list, I enjoyed reading her story immensely.
Meredith is a surgeon at the top of her profession, killing herself to make the Chief of Surgery position. She has no love life and really no life in general. She exists and only just because of her 6 year old son Noah. Mer has had a hard year dealing with the death of her brother, or I should say not dealing with it. But when her patient walks back in after a transplant a year later with all his cocky swagger and pleading eyes she has to struggle to maintain her professional boundaries. Because she is nothing with them.
Derek was an NFL kicker for the Washington Lions until his liver gave out and he needed a transplant. Now he isn’t allowed on the field unless he’s coaching. He hates watching other people do what he feels like he was born to do. When both new kickers get injured the coaches want him back on the grass. But will the smart and sexy Dr Meredith Grant allow him a second chance or will she kick him out like after the first night they spend together?
This story was great. It felt rushed in some parts but on a whole it was a really good story. It was complete with a hea, so no cliff hangers here.
I loved the characters and the story line. I’m usually more into hockey romances but this was a nice change. Although there was not very much football played so if you’re looking for more of the team dynamic and field time you won’t find it here.
Please give Rosie Knox a read and leave her a review, she may be your next favorite author!.

Tricky to review. I grabbed it because it has a free audiobook included. But I found out it was virtual narrators. I typically don't read books with virtual narrators, but I needed something light to listen to, so I gave it a shot.
It fell flat. I didn't feel connected to either MC. On top of that, I take major issue with her wanting to be 100% by the books rule follower, but all of a sudden when she wants to find out about who got her brother's organs, she jumped right in to find out where they went. That would be a major rule violation, but that's perfectly acceptable. That consistency bothered me.
-A forbidden romance between a surgeon and her former patient that’s equal parts sweet and sinful. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Meredith and Derek’s chemistry burns through all the rules. The story has hints of grief, healing, and second chances.
This enjoyable, fast-paced, emotional sports romance proves that some risks are worth taking.
Derek and Meredith are both exciting and off-the-charts hot together just like the tv show that has everyone swooning over McDreamy. The characters were wonderfully written with an undeniable connection and a romance that keeps you hooked from start to finish. This is a heck of a romance book by Rosie that deserves and gets at least a 20 out of 20 stars and a whole lot more.
Doctor/patient story. Derek is a forced into retirement football player after getting a liver transplant. Meredith was his surgeon. Derek gets a possible second chance at playing football but needs clearance from Meredith.
Overall, I felt the story was alright. I did skim some parts at the end. To me, it dragged a little. I have a bit of a neutral opinion of this book I guess?
This enjoyable sports romance has drama, action, chemistry, attraction, professional and personal relations, secrets and realizations. The MCs are likable, stubborn, and determined. I liked this entertaining and engaging book.

I found this book very engaging. It pulled me in from the first. I didn't read anything about the book beforehand so as to get an honest feel, and it drew me from the first. The story was well written, strong, soft romance that balanced with modern real life situations have affects. The mix of life and love was well balanced and made for a seamless flow. There was no filler moments to bore the reader, story was well written without errors. Definitely a book worth reading, I don't normally like contemporary stories as I find them mundane and atypical, but this story grasped my attention and had no moments of let down. I can honestly see myself buying this book in print to add to my home library.
Ok so it took me a few chapters to realize the main characters names were Derek and Meridith and all I could think was, yeah someone else is also a Grey's fan 😂 this was the first sports romance I've read since I started reading again and I loved it. The tension, the spice,100% perfection.
Man what an emotional read this is. I loved everything about this book. From the characters, the minimal heat and their chemistry. The serendipitous moment when she realizes the connection as well is great. I loved it all.
This was just the most endearing love story. One filled with growth and forgiveness. Loved it so much. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by booksprout.
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. It had all the feels. The story made me happy, sad, angry and happy again. It was also a little spicy, which I like.
