Heated: One Married Couple's BDSM Journey

Heated

Allie

When my best friend gave me a set of candles for Christmas, I thought it was another lame, last-minute gift. It wasn’t until months later, as I was about to throw them away, that I saw what they really were.

Body wax candles.

My friend wasn’t such a bad gift-giver after all, I realized. That realization also set my mind awhirl with possibilities. But what would my husband think about bringing a little extra heat into the bedroom?

Erik

When Allie approached me about trying out the new candles in our bedroom play, I had one

Hell freakin’ yeah.

I had to do my research, though. As it turns out, hot wax is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to temperature play. When we get our play time this weekend, she’s going to get a taste of all of it.

A little fire and ice.

Untying the Knot

Erik and Allie worked hard to build a life they were proud of. It wasn’t easy, but by the time they reached their forties, they were content. Not just husband and wife, but also mother and father to three energetic boys. Unfortunately, that didn’t leave much time for each other.

This series is their journey to reinvent their intimacy by diving into the world of BDSM. Their love takes them on a year-long exploration of themselves and each other. Together, they navigate the ups and downs of self-discovery to untie the knot of suburban domesticity.

It’s in the world of spice that Skylar has found her calling. Deep down, though, she will always be a paranormal girl at heart. It's amazing what one might find while cleaning out the house. What might a married couple get into while their kids are away? This is the 13th book in the Untying the Knot series, in which a married couple experiments with different elements of BDSM. Love this series, how it features a married 40-something couple and safe experimenting. It also shows a realistic depiction with mishaps, misunderstandings, and real-life interference. The couple is not only improving their sex life but also their communication and relationship as a whole.

This series, where do I begin? I can’t get enough! These books make great quickies. Who can pass up some exploring in the BD$M world? A married couples journey reconnecting with each other. Banter is fantastic. And I’ll just say I’m totally jealous of the living room scene,

Another solid read about Allie and Erik's journey. It was a quick and spicy read that I finished in one sitting. I loved how this couple explores different things while still being them. I was slightly disappointed the story seemed more focused on ice than heat. However, I definitely recommend this book, series and authors!

A couples foray into the world of BDSM continues. Always willing to try new things but not everything works as expected. Still they move forward enjoying the journey. Well written as always roll on book 14.

Heated: One Married Couple’s BDSM Journey is book thirteen in the Untying the Knot series, and it continues Allie and Erik’s ongoing journey of rediscovering each other after years of marriage, parenting, and everyday life getting in the way.

What I continue to love about this series is how natural their exploration feels. Nothing ever appears out of nowhere or for shock value. Each new step grows out of curiosity, trust, and the quiet understanding that long-term relationships still have room to evolve.

In this installment, a simple discovery turns into another opportunity for experimentation between them. That sense of curiosity has always been one of the strengths of the series. Allie often approaches things with a mix of hesitation and intrigue, while Erik brings his own brand of enthusiasm and careful attention to learning what works for both of them.

Their dynamic continues to shine because it’s rooted in communication. Even when things get playful or unpredictable, the foundation of their relationship remains the same. A married couple who genuinely enjoy discovering new sides of each other.

There’s also a lightness to this book that I really enjoyed. Moments of humor and teasing between Allie and Erik remind you that their connection isn’t just about exploration. It’s about partnership, friendship, and keeping that spark alive even after years together.

By this point in the series, their confidence as a couple really shows. They trust each other enough to keep pushing their boundaries, but they never lose sight of what brought them here in the first place, their marriage.

Heated adds another fun and curious step in their year-long journey of intimacy and rediscovery.

Curious. Playful. Warm.

As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what I like you may not.

Happy Reading. 🖤📚

A rare snowstorm hits Houston while Erick and Allie are set to enjoy a kids-are-at-the-grandparents weekend. The power goes out so they settle in front of the fireplace for a night of fun. They are anticipating playing with a box of sex candles given to Allie by her friend as a gag-gift. Meant to be a joke, the candles turn out to be a lot of fun, and then the play turns icy. Who knew ice cubes could be just as entertaining? Things go sideways when Paul retrieves a toy cooling off outside. The noise she makes is not one associated with fun, and for only the second time Allie yells “computer!” She eventually thaws out and they decide to never do the sub-zero play again. A great erotic tale, as always, which stresses communication during new scenes. (BTW, the snowstorm was based on 'Fern', the massive cold/ice/snow storm of January 2026. This reviewer lost power for only 48 hours and was considered lucky.)

When Allie realizes that the candles she received for Christmas from her best friend were adult candles, plans to use them on their next no-kids weekend were quickly put in motion.

Allie and Erik are, hands-down, my favorite lifestyle couple. I appreciate how the first half of the book really focused on them being a loving couple within a vibrant, dynamic family—sometimes the banter and flirting they slip in can be almost as hot as the action. Almost.

In Heated A&E add temperature play to their bag of tricks. The was something I’d heard of but never knew much about. Turns out playing with candle wax can be hot—both literally and figuratively. And what’s fire without a little ice…

Another great chapter in Allie and Erik’s continuing exploration. Looking forward to next month’s adventure.

I received a copy of this from StoryOrigin and am leaving my review.

Heated is part of the Untying The Knot series about Erik and Allie, a couple that had lost the intimacy they once had in their marriage, but after three children and demanding jobs, they had lost it. This series was about their journey into the world of BDSM as a way to bring back the intimacy in their relationship. In this book, the couple explored candle wax play, thus Heated.

As always, the writing style of the series was impressive, and the plot was tastefully written with just a little bit of wit. I liked that there was more mention of their family life, and the impact children can have on intimacy in this book. There was more specific mention of their three sons and how demanding parenthood can be. Another excellent book in a fun and smexy series. I definitely recommend it.

I am so THRILLED that Skylar and Logan decided to extend their Untying the Knot series. It is an awesome series – I have loved all of the books so far and this one is just as great as the previous books. I love the way Erik and Allie are parents and still are taking the time to build on their “private” time while raising 3 boys. Love the bad dream interference! Hot and cold – what GREAT contrasts! The way Erik and Allie are navigating their passion for each other and for BDSM is the best of 2 worlds! Another awesome book!
