*******THIS IS A NOVELLA AND INTENDED FOR ADULTS 18 AND OLDER*******
Gabriella Tuttle is a 19 year old girl who works for her step-father’s construction company. She lives at home with her mother and step-father, Sophia and Rick Jameson. They were a happy family until 2 years ago when Sophia fell in with the wrong crowd in an effort to recapture her youth.
At the age of 37, Rick has had enough. He’s done with Sophia’s abusive behavior. He’s done watching her lying around the house, strung out on the drug of the week. But he is not willing to leave Gabriella alone with her. As wrong as he knows it is, Rick has developed a strong attraction to his step-daughter.
Now that Gabby’s an adult, and Rick’s ready to get Sophia out of his life, dare he make the move to become something other than a step-father to Gabby? His mind isn’t so sure, but his body is more than ready.
ABOUT ME I am a simple country girl from South Jersey who took my love of reading and shifted it into a love of writing. I am an avid hockey fan (Go Flyers!), which prompted me to start my writing with hockey romance stories. I now write erotic romance as well, and maybe something a bit different than both of those genres in the not-so-distant future. When not at work as a full-charge bookkeeper in Philadelphia, I'm at home writing, reading or simply spending time with my husband of over twenty years. Both my husband and I love animals immensely, which is evident in my writing. Even my badass characters have pets. Heck, one has a bunny! If there is any advice I would impart upon you, it is this: Follow your dreams. Always. Don't let anyone tell you it's foolish or unattainable. You have but one life to live—live it!
I feel as though I was left hanging....I need to know what Gabby really wanted to say to Rick, how she really feels. What does he plan on doing to fight for her....and will she really let him in her life?
I've read one book from the author, Nikki Worrell, before and I really enjoyed her storytelling and unique plot lines. I saw this book and knew I was going to love the story, just from reading the blurb, and I'm happy that my guess was correct! I liked that this story took a taboo topic and made it into a interesting and captivating storyline. If I have one compliant, it's that I wish the book was longer or that there was going to be another part! I wish I got to read more about what happened with the main characters in the future.
Gabriella Tuttle is an nineteen year old girl who's life seems so uncomplicated, but it's anything but. Her mother, in the pursuit to retain her youth, started following the wrong crowd a few years ago and now she isn't the woman, or mother, she used to be. Gabriella is done dealing with her mother, who she loathes. The only thing she can say that her mother did right was marry her step-dad, Rick, whom Gabriella adores and trusts.
Rick is 37 years old and loves his step-daughter, Gabby. He would do anything to keep her safe, even if that meant saying in a loveless and unhappy marriage to keep her safe from the crowd his wife hangs around. The only thing he gained over the years of their marriage was Gabby. Over the years, he has grown a deep attraction for his step-daughter. And now that she's nineteen and he can finally leave his wife, he wants to see where things can go with Gabby.
But is age really just a number?
A very good novella and I can see this novella being made into a complete series, or at least another book. Although I wished and I'm still hoping for another book following the events that happened at the end of this book, I think the novella ended well and was nicely written. I look forward to reading more from the author and highly recommend this novella to everyone! It's a fast, enjoyable, and really fun book!
OMG... My jaw is still laying on the floor where it dropped after the first page. All I have to say is that this is sooooo Taboo, hot, and steamy at the same time. I almost felt ashamed (for a minute) that I wanted Gabby and Rick to hook up the first chance they could. I was trying to justify their relationship in my head by telling myself they aren't blood and it wasn't like she was an infant when her mother married Rick.
Rick is ready to leave but doesn't want to leave Gabby in that environment. I could definitely read a full length novel about these two. I really wanted Gabby to feel as Rick did and seriously have a go at it. It was such a quick read but pulled you into it immediately and before you know it your trying to turn the page on your e-reader and it won't go. My first response was to scream Nooooooooo then I decided the next best thing would be to roll over and wake up the husband.
***I received an ARC of What Mother Doesn't Know by Nikki Worrell in exchange for an honest review.***
Holy taboo! Should I rate this in stars (4) or how long of a hot shower you will need afterwards (a LONG one)? This is about a 19 (almost 20) year old, her drug addicted mother, and her construction worker step dad. Rick and Gabby realize they have an attraction to each other that goes well past the step family relationship. Hard to give a lot of detail in a short, but I feel Nikki gave us just enough to definitely want more. I feel like the ending was left open to the possibility of continuing. Great and hot short!
I enjoyed this book. I felt like it was just getting going when it ended. Hopefully there is gonna be a second book as I would like to see how rick intends to fight for gabby.
19 year old Gabriella is living with an alcoholic mother that has random men at home but is married to a nice guy that seems to stick around because he doesn't eat anything to happen to Gabby
Rick, the nice guy step father starts to have feeling for Gabby. You can pretty much figure out what happens.
A lovely story of a forbidden love. Gabby and Rick went through so much because of her mother and his wife. They have an amazing relationship and Rick is such a chevaleresque Knight. But I was sad for Rick, I just hoped there would be an epilogue or a sequel to give him a happy ending.
