If somebody asks me which yaoi manga I love the most, the answer is this manga. Dear Green: Hitomi no Ounowa is simply hit my softspot for a gay-related stories. It's not all about sex--and explicit sex--but it's more about the growing relationship between Yukari and Kou.
In high school, Yukari Yajima had a female bestfriend named Ryouko. Once she introduced him to her new boyfriend, named Kou Otoumi, and since then the three of them always hang out together. After some time, Ryouko and Kou broke up, but since both Ryouko and Kou are awfully close to Yukari, they stayed as friend. After the broke up, Yukari and Kou got closer and when the three of them graduated, Yukari and Kou decided to go to Tokyo together. And since then they stayed in contact, while Kou started to question what Yukari means in his life.
I love, love, love this story. One of the rare few stories that I could reread over and over again. The pacing is really good, it took a good amount of time to make both Kou and Yukari realized their feelings and settled them down. It's sweet with soft glances and soft touches. The kiss and sex is more into sweet than hot, and all of that just make butterflies fluttering in my belly. And the artworks is so handsomely fine, too! I love how spacey Kou is, or how motherly Yukari. They're not effeminate, no girly sounds around, just two guy bestfriends try to define their feelings.
Reread it for the who-know-how-much time, and still so love it. So five stars.
