Lauren Brooke grew up in a ranch in Virginia and now lives in Leicestershire, England. Her husband is a veterinarian who specializes in horses. Her books have been published by Scholastic since Mid-2000, starting with the first book of the Heartland book series. The first book of her popular Chestnut Hill series was published in 2005.

According to an interview on scholastics' website, Lauren Brooke has been riding since before she could walk. She also said she competes in a few local-level horse shows and events.

Another day, another Heartland book to work my way through! Since I managed to find all of these books at a local book sale, I've been trying my hardest to work my way through this series slowly but surely. It is a fantastic series to disappear into. With family-centered focus and being kind to animals, I absolutely adore this series and can see why it got to big and became a television show.

This book tackles the first Thanksgiving without Amy and Lou's Mom. It's hard on Amy to miss her Mom so much and see how everything just goes on as if it didn't happen. Then to make matters worse, Lou wants to see their Dad, her friends are shifting their opinions on the local bullies, and something seems to be going on with Amy and her new (or not so new?) crush. This book packs a lot of drama into one read, but it is so sweet! I absolutely adore this book.

Glad I've gotten around to reading this one. I haven't read one of these for a few weeks not, and it picked up just where it left off :) So awesome. I read this in about 2 hours, which is pretty crazy given the quite small font size. There was also finally quite a bit of romance, split between Amy and Ty and Matt, Lou and Scott, Soraya and Ben. And for once Amy wasn't completely selfish. I was really worried for Jack though! I might have even teared up. It was so scary how he had to go to the hospital :( But I'm so glad that he's okay, and that they were all together for Christmas. AND THAT AMY AND TY FINALLY KISSED!

Amy's life has changed so much since her mother's passing. Her responsiblities weigh heavily on her shoulders. Then things take a turn. Amy's Grandfather falls ill and Lou is away on a goose-chase in England looking for their father. Amy doesn't know what to do, but she relies on Ty for help, more than anyone. He's been a kind and caring friend to her. Is it possible for her to believe there could be more between then other than friendship?

This book brings in the faith it takes to make things good even in the worst situations. Romance begins in this book. :) My favorite of the series.

It's been a while since I read one of the Heartland books, and so I had kind of forgotten that the main character, Amy, is fifteen, and yet this book would very much appeal to 12-year-olds. Her budding romance with Ty was fairly obvious but pretty well done, considering everything else that was going on in the book - her grandfather's failing health, her sister's search for their estranged father, her best friend Matt dating the snobby Ashley, a headstrong foal... but it works, and I like this series because there are serious issues being addressed and not just a simple, silly plotline (a la The Saddle Club).

This book felt a little longer than the rest of the series. It was good, although I don't understand why Lou would leave the country, point blank. It was pretty dang obvious that no one really wanted her to go, and when somebody I loved had just been checked in to the hospital I sure wouldn't have been like "See ya later, I'm going to England!"

well, this one was probably my favorite so far. i still dont like the whole “tell dont show” writing style BUT the story just kept pulling me in and i wanted to read it all the way through in one sitting! honestly i think every book gets better and better even with the missing pieces, and i cant wait to read the rest! it was such a sweet story with life lessons about not taking the people IN your life for granted while chasing those who ARENT and i just loved it!

I think that Heartland book are very entertaining they also tell you that u don't hit horse's and a lot of other facts. If you are looking for a book this is a great book to read :) Love it

I’ve read the first six books of the series so far and I can say that this one is my favorite right now :)

The series is written for a younger audience but I really like to read them at the time because I am a huge fan of the tv show. I like to escape to the world of Heartland even if the written one is quiet different to the tv show.
I liked the first three books, but I think now I deeply dived into the wolrd of "Written Heartland" and I am very excited about every new story that awaits me in the next book.

In this one it is right before Christmas when Amy and Ty start to work with the quiet stubborn foal Daybreak. Everything starts quiet relaxed and only at Ashley's winter party Amy gets in some kind of controversy with her friend Matt. He wants to be more than friends, but Amy doesn't. At the same time she starts to develop some strange feelings for Ty. But than things get more complicated for Amy. Lou reveals that she wants to search for their father in England and than Grandfather Jack falls seriouly ill. He has to go to the hospital but also insistences that Lou has to go to England and search for their father. Now Ty and Amy have the responsibility to care for the horses. While working hard together everyday they get pretty close to each other. Marnie, Lou's friend, arrives at Heartland to help them with all the things that have to be done. Everybody does their best but somehow they all missed out on Daybreak. She got sick and now Amy has to tremble about Jack and the little filly. In the end everything gets fine and Jack and Daybreak recover from their sickness and all together they have a wonderful christmas feast.

Another adorable storyline in the Heartland series!

In this book we really see the strength in Amy. Dealing with all she has in the past six months has taken a toll on her. She's still grieving her mom and Pegasus. Now to top it off before the year is over, right around Christmas time she’s hit with more upsets. Her grandpa ends up in the hospital, Lou is away over seas in search of their dad, she's got a troublesome foal she's trying to train who also ends up getting sick on her, and her dad drops some big news through a phone call.

Amy has been on such a rollercoaster of emotions with all the events that have happened in her life, and in this story it shows how well she handles it all.

Although there was a lot of bad things happening in this one, it all ended on a happy note. We really got to see Amy get tested and come through it all a stronger person. With the help of Ty of course! I loved seeing her and Ty's relationship shift. The light romance blossoming between them is so sweet, and the ending was perfect!

So much going on in this one, with the same heartwarming feels that Heartland provides. 🐴

Je suis en train de me refaire tous les tomes. Ils se lisent aussi facilement que dans mon souvenir. Une heure ou moins pour un tome environ, c'est vite plié.
Tout ça me rend nostalgique...

Moi qui craignait qu'ils soient trop naïfs, ou juvéniles, c'est surtout rafraîchissant.

Je me rappelais d'une Amy bien plus égoïste que ça, mais finalement elle est surtout jeune et voit difficilement au-delà de sa douleur. On oublie bien facilement qu'elle n'a que 16 ans...

Seule ombre au tableau jusqu'ici : la traduction ??? Pourquoi le personnage d'Ashley Gorst (souvent décrit pas l'héroïne comme absolument magnifique, entre autres, soit dit en passant...) est-il si cliché ??? (Je n'oublie pas que le livre est écrit pour des ados d'une douzaine d'années ou un peu plus...)
Et surtout, pourquoi est-ce que son nom était traduit jusqu'à ce tome par Angela si c'était pour revenir après 6 livres au nom d'origine ?!

Finally continuing with my whatever-number-I'm-up-to reread of this series. There's so much that happens in this book, making it a bit longer than the others, but it's all handled well. I did tear up in places, but now I'm a few years older than when I last read them, I can see that some of this book is potentially filler stuff to give way to threads that become the bigger stuff later on in the series.

Unlike most people, who read the books then watch the show, I watched the show and then am now reading the books. I LOVE HEARTLAND!!!!!!! So amazing! Definitely a great read! (In my option the show is better and has more depth, but the books are good too!)

Again another five star read. This series has captured my heart. It has so many lessons you can learn as you read the series. They might just be what you need to hear some days. I also like that it had hints of a slow burn romance between Amy and Ty, but it doesn’t over power the story. I also like how the titles are intertwined in the story some how.

Ce sixième tome à une saveur particulière parce qu'il se déroule durant la période de Noël. Je l'ai trouvée vraiment émouvant et captivant.

Et dans ce tome-ci, tout particulièrement, il y a du suspens et une surprise à la fin !

Amy's sister is still off looking for their estranged father. Amy is exploring a relationship with someone. She is also still trying to manage the farm and all of the horses on it, with help from Ty and other farm workers. I have loved watching the farm continue on and the character growth.
