So the rest of my notes are here/from the beginning and majority of the book are here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... but there were too many - this book is WELL WELL OVER 2.5 MILLION words. So yeah.
There are like a LOT of timeline issues in this book. Plus ... the author seemed to have struggled with math. A lot. [Character ages and timeline don't match up, etc etc.] Unless it was MTL/AI errors. 🤷🏻♀️ But also like ... the plot was both messy and thoughtful, if that makes sense. Like things ML did ~twelve years ago come into play in the now. But then also like it's just constant reaction to stuff. Ridiculous shit, letting people YOU KNOW are a problem live even though they've spent their whole lives trying to kill you ... why? No reason. Just so the author can have shit drag out and have things happening.
And like WTF was the point of wiping out Cang Mang mountain or whatever - didn't seem like it did much/they didn't sufficiently wipe it out ... a lot of contradiction such as Li City was "locked as tight as an iron bucket" and yet all sorts of shit happen
Then the badly written shit e.g. Xu QingChen and Shen YuGe. I get she's naive but then she's written stupid despite it saying she's not stupid just ... contradictions. I'm also creeped out by the age difference. Felt that was >.<
The more I think of it the more I'm creeped out by the author too. I get she's trying to be funny/cute with MXB/MYC's friends all wanting to marry his little sister. But uh, by the end they're like 13-15/16 year old boys ... WANTING TO MARRY A 6-7 YEAR OLD?! (I mean they'd obviously wait until she's of age but ... dude that's still so fucking creepy). And you see with me not being clear on the ages; that's on the author. Cuz it really seems she herself isn't clear.
All that being said ... I actually skimmed very little of it. Although by like chapter 150 I did start checking like "wait how long is this thing?" I picked it up cuz I saw filming had finished ... and I think Cheng Lei could do excellently in this role - like a mix of his characters in [what I've seen from clips of] My Journey to You and A Familiar Stranger/Legend of the Female General. Dunno how the director will go. Bai Lu ... I dunno - we'll see - I think she can fit it too.
I wish we got more of the romance. I think the author forgot we don't know what she's thinking other than what she put on the page, so she was clunky with ML/I felt you really had to "read between the lines." (And ... >.> reading the comments didn't help/CLEARLY people missed it.)
He's seriously one of the most [clingy] affectionate heroes I've read. The constant hand holding - IN PUBLIC - which is a pretty big deal. The way he sprawls on her, always wants to be touching her, wants to try to give her the best of everything. And what she wants - even if it's not what he wants. But on the other hand she'll do what she can to support him, even if she doesn't love it. Granted, sometimes there's a difference between not loving something but still doing it/knowing it's for the best. Which happens a few times. Like, that's just natural. Shit doesn't always go as you want. [And it'd be worse to do what makes you feel marginally better in the moment only to cause endless catastrophe later.]
Also that this is barely a romance in that they spend most of the book apart. (LOL when she declares him dead; felt a bit like she was mad at him/she definitely was.)
I'm not mad I read this book - but I don't have any plans of re-reading it, and I wouldn't avoid other books by this author, but definitely wouldn't go looking for them either.
And I REALLY didn't like FL introducing guns to the world. Like bitch - don't be all fucking self righteous about lamenting deaths etc ... WHEN YOU BROUGHT IN BOMBS AND GUNS. Meh.

434 ah ML has MXB/MYC take over 5 yrs later (so he’s like 16) … 13 years later Mo YuFeng is 14… MYC ascends the throne at 30, names his reign “Li” I wonder if it’s the same character as FL‘s name.

In Golden Age Legitimate Fei, when Ye Li's engagement is stolen by her sister, she intends to lead a relatively peaceful life. However, the emperor's schemes cause Ye Li to marry the crippled Prince Ding Mo Xiuyao. And while the emperor would come to regret this decision, the new couple would consider it a gift.
I promise it's worth the read.
This is a transmigration tale, although that portion is really only necessary to explain how Ye Li can be so capable. There is a reference to another transmigrator, and even proof of it, but I personally don't think it has much bearing on the plot. However, if you are a stickler for transmigrators / rebirthers explaining their situations, please note that while it does happen, again, it's neither here nor there.
The romance kind of just happens. I enjoyed that we spent the majority of the story with the main couple being married, but so much happens within the first year that, while it does not feel unearned, you kind of just look up and the characters are in love with each other. Ultimately, this work is about 450 chapters: the author can BS all they want with that.
So I guess I'd call this a Romantic Saga? In that the story takes place over about a 12 to 13 year period (with a 5 year time jump), and there's a lot of battles and conquering going on in the midst of what should be a love story. The heroes are heroes almost immediately, and they are very much about each other (even if not romantically) from the first meeting.
So, if you like Transmigration, Revenge, and being loved by someone willing to burn cities behind you, then this one is for you.
I promise it's worth the read.

Post chapter 180, I felt FL was on a mission to be the most OP possible. The ML was as if he had his maturity frozen at age 15. The most unnecessary plots, characters, irrational personality created for the antagonists. Felt even longer than usual, coming from who reads a lot this says a LOT!
