Playing the Field #0.5

Daring the Player

Rate this book
She’s nothing but trouble…and he can’t resist.

Raised by a pro football legend, Miami Thunder wide receiver Rep Grissom has a career most would envy. A toxic marriage with a party girl almost put him on the sidelines, but now he keeps his head down and makes the moves on the field that leave younger players in his dust. Now all he has to do is maintain the status quo and he’s guaranteed a lucrative new contract at an age when most guys are retiring.

Lola Corbin is used to leaving all the big boys in her rearview mirror. The lead singer in the worlds biggest rock band she fills up arenas and closes down the clubs but with the group on the brink of breaking apart her future is uncertain. Years spent on the road has left her with nothing at home except platinum records on the walls, an empty fridge and a cold bed. For the first time, she’s looking for something and someone beyond the spotlight.

When Lola’s first night in her condo ends with Rep breaking up a fight he realizes that temptation has moved in next door. Lola doesn’t usually go for the strong and serious types, but the more she sees of her neighbor, the more she wants. When a thank you dinner turns into dancing and a hot tryst in the back of the club their attraction cannot be denied. But when Lola-induced trouble results in a front-page-career-ending spectacle the player must decide if he’s going to be as daring with his heart as he is on the field.

Daring the Player is book #0.5 in the Playing the Field series by Robin Covington. This is my very first book by Robin. Although I do have some others on my to read list.

Peter “Rep” Grissom has played wide receiver for ten years for the Miami Thunder football team. He loves football and has given the sport everything. The only flaw in his career is when his marriage with his horrible ex-wife broke apart. His playing suffered and he felt like he let his team down. But now he’s back on track and is about to sign a brand new contract with his team. But his quiet life took a huge new direction when he ran next door to his brand new neighbor to break up a fight.

Lola Corbin is only twenty three years old but is the lead singer for the world famous rock band, Tangled Royal. She has just purchased her new condo in Miami. The band has pretty much run it’s course, the members all wanting changes in their lives. When her football star neighbor charges in like a knight in shining armor to save her, she is definitely intrigued. When they touch, the spark is unmistakable and suddenly, her future looks so much more promising.

Neither of these two were looking for a relationship but they can’t deny what they feel for each other. They both have busy careers, though, and they both have complications. Is there a way to mesh their lives in a way that would work for them?

This was a short, sexy story that I really enjoyed. The ending was a bit abrupt but perhaps there will be more of their future lives in the following book? I loved meeting both of these characters. The next book in the series, book one, is called Last Second Chance.

This is a novella so a quick read, spoilers ahead 2.5*

H/h are neighbors, she's a 23 year old bad girl rock star he's a 33(I think) year old pro football player about to renew his contract
She's no shy wallflower, she's sexually experienced and adventurous having had a few hookups and relationships as the third in triads as well as been in open relationships
He's been through a tough divorce with a partygirl who cheated on him and now only dates safe women
They meet sparks fly and the scenes get steamy
Things in her life cause some trouble for him, dumb breakup but sweet public grand gesture

I liked it ok enough, my eyebrows hit my hairline a few times but good stuff. I'll try more by this author.

Beth's Review

I always know picking up a book by Robing Covington I will always get a great sexy hot read and she definitely didn’t disappoint with Daring the Player. It’s a great story about two people that are complete opposites except for the fact that they both live in the public eye due to their career choices. Rep is a pro football player that has already had a love that went wrong in the public eye. Lola is a well-known rock star that is on the verge of her band breaking up and her contemplating a solo career. These two are different people in front of the cameras, playing the role of the big star, but when the cameras are gone, both are just looking for something more in their lives, someone to come home to.

I really loved these two characters. Lola was a great strong female lead character who knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to be upfront about it and go after it. But I also loved that even though she was a well know rock star, her band was also her family, who she cared dearly for. Rep was your typical athletic guy, the usual jock, but he had a softer side and was a true gentleman at heart. I loved when these two got together, there was such great banter between the two and you could really feel the chemistry between them. And when these two got together, it always ended with some really great panty wetting scenes.

Daring the player was a really great sexy but at the same time romantic novella and the author did a great job pulling me in right from the start. I usually have a hard time connecting when a story is written in third person POV but have to say I connected with both of these characters immediately. Also she did a great job with the storyline, I really enjoyed the freshness of it with both of these characters coming from great homes, no bad childhoods, no broken homes. Both Lola and Rep came from homes with loving families who had parents that were still very much in love so many years later. They both had their shares of bumps, life was never perfect, but it seems like everyone has a terrible childhood with horrible parents . And last, she did a great job writing the love between these two. With this being a novella, it’s always hard to bring two characters together in such a short amount of time without it having that insta love feel to it and I must say although the chemistry was instant and the feelings came shortly after, it didn’t feel “insta-love” and it had just the right amount of drama and angst added in. I always love a great athlete story and must say she did a great job of this one and would love to see some more football hunks from her.

Kind of bland characters, very little chemistry and tension probably because it was so short. There was no time to develop much. The spicy scenes were spicing though.

Ms. Covington's latest release takes us into the world of sports and romance created by Carly Phillips in her Dare to Love series through the appearance of team owner Ian Dare and his friendship with star player Rep Grissom. It's a successful pairing as the co-mingling of these two worlds is seamlessly done in this fast-paced and sexy romp between two people living in the spotlight while trying to be themselves in a burgeoning relationship constantly under scrutiny.

Rep's entire life has been about football as his father was an icon of the sport. In the waning years of a successful career he's desperate to keep his reputation clean as he wants his final contract signing to be his biggest. He's currently considered the sport's Golden Boy but not so long ago he was a target for the paparazzi as the implosion of his marriage to his college sweetheart became ugly and turned him into a bad boy. He's now reformed, living the life of a monk and rarely going out as he doesn't want his heart and soul to get broken again. His willpower is put to the test though when a sexy songstress moves in next door with lots of personal baggage that this white knight can't help but want to rescue her from. Before he can blink the two of them are burning up the sheets in numerous scorching encounters that put him on the front page once again and put his football career in jeopardy. From the very first moment we see Rep rushing to Lola's defense with no regard for his own safety we know theirs is going to be a rocky and fiery romance. Despite her chaotic lifestyle Rep's drawn to her. As they grow closer he gets caught up in her problems too which leads to a moment that tarnishes his heroic persona and forces him to make amends in a truly Grand Gesture that left me sighing. Rep is sexy and values honesty, but was quick to jump to conclusions. He's also a caring man who would move heaven and earth to make the woman he loves happy and I became thoroughly enamored of him.

Lola's future is just as uncertain as Rep's as the bandmates who feel more like family are going through changes. While some are no longer interested in music, one has a drug addiction that's out of control and putting her in danger while leaving her emotionally and physically battered. She too wants to spread her musical wings but for now she just wants peace and quiet. What she gets though is a sexy next door neighbor with a savior complex that she quickly becomes obsessed with getting into her bed. She uses all the flirting techniques she knows but it's her real persona behind the rocker facade that wins him over and sets them on a path of getting to know each other away from the spotlight. Lola is a vibrant and strong-willed woman loyal to her bandmates despite how much pain it causes her. She and Rep are similar in many ways with a sexual connection that crackles in anticipation of their next sexual encounter and I thoroughly enjoyed watching their sweet and sensual path to HEA.

This was a quick and immensely satisfying read with only a small heartbreaking hiccup, dealt with in a romantic and heartwarming way, to mar the journey to HEA. Rep and Lola are a likable couple with loneliness that's palpable at the start of the story as their fame kept them from finding true happiness and their uncertain futures exaccerbated that. Their finding each other felt right from the moment Rep barged through Lola's front door and had me cheering for them from that moment on. The flow of this story kept me engaged with its perfect balance of scorching sex and deep-seated emotional talks that allowed for character and couple growth that kept me invested in their HEA. While there's a small cast of memorable secondary characters that amped up the emotional turmoil and put the main couple at adds, it's Rep and Lola that are the heart and soul of this story. Ultimately, while it's short on word count this story is long on sex and romance and is another winner for Ms. Covington and for those looking for a little afternoon delight.

Both are stars, one a singer, the other a football player. Can a down home football player have anything in common with a flamboyant lead singer for a rock band.

They meet under unusual circumstances during a time when he's up for what will be his final contract. He can have no "situations" that will lead to bad publicity and though he is attracted to her wants nothing to do with her.

She has the reputation of anything and everything goes, will she add him to the list, especially a "good" guy like him.

What you are and what you do has nothing to do with who you desire, for these two (whether they want to or not) have a instant physical attraction to one another. Is that enough to build any kind of a relationship on; they'll have to figure it out.

This is a humorous, with sex leading the way, story of two individuals at the crossroads of their lives and wondering if that attraction is enough to call love.

I recommend this book to any who likes a good laugh and sizzle with the possibility of romance.

Another great read from Robin Covington! I loved it! I only wish the story was longer. Daring the Player is a novella so it’s a quick story. It’s really hot and steamy. I enjoyed the witty banter between the characters and their chemistry was off the charts. Rep knew how to talk to a woman that’s for sure. Yum. This was a fun and sexy read and I highly recommend it. I love when authors get together to collaborate like this and create a great series for readers to enjoy.

What a hot read this was! I just loved both Rep and Lola, and really enjoyed the way they were so honest with each about what they wanted and expected…it was so refreshing to have two characters who knew who they were and where they were in their lives and not afraid to show that to each other. There was heat, there was sweet, and I loved the fact that these two could have me laughing with their banter and thoughts.

Other than the bit of drama at the end, there wasn't much about Rep that didn't have me wishing for my own part in this book that involved me, Rep and a whole lot of alone time. That boy could sure make a girl swoon – from his “white knight” acts to his dirty-talking mouth, Rep was a man who defined the whole package. And yeah, the fact that he’s hot as sin and a football player doesn't hurt either. I loved his internal monologue when he first encounters Lola – he knows she is all sorts of trouble and no good can possibly come from spending any time with her, because he knows he’ll never be able to resist her.

Oh hell no. He wasn't going to dinner with this woman. He’d be lucky to make it to dinner before he took her to bed. She was his fantasy come to life and he wasn't that strong. A man had to know his limitations.

And Lola was just fabulous! Yeah, she was a rock star, but there was so much more to her. She’s totally comfortable with who she is, what she has done in her life, and what she wants – especially when she decides she wants Rep! Although she has some stuff going on with her band that creates some drama around her life, Lola typically keeps things real and just is who she is. And when it comes to Rep, she’s a great balance for him.

Rep and Lola could certainly burn up the pages, but the best part about them was their willingness to say what they felt and put it all out there. And even though they are both dealing with some pretty pivotal issues in their professional lives, they are trying to figure out how to create a future together. The steamy times and dirty-talking were awesome, but I just loved seeing the two of them being honest with each other and acknowledge their feelings.

“This is just us,” Rep said, not knowing where he was going but needing to say things. Important things. “No one else in your bed.”

She shook her head. “Only you.”

“This is right. It’s supposed to be like this.”

“Yes. We are supposed to be like this.”

*Sigh*…this is one you definitely don’t want to miss!

Both of these characters are major famous in their own part of business. Rep is a football player, a big one too, and Lola is the lead singer in a Rock Band. While Rep tries to stay under the radar, since he is coming up to renew his contract one more time before he retires, Lola is the complete opposite. She is known as the party girl, one always looking for a good time. But what most people don’t know is that Lola is ready to find someone where she can just be herself, because that party girl rocker is just one side to Lola. She is down to Earth and doesn’t mind spending her nights at home, if she could ever find a man who wanted both sides to her.

They meet when Rep rushes to her rescue and after that the attraction just grows. Rep knows he should stay away from her, but he finds himself falling fast. Old wounds come to surface as he sees himself with Lola settling down. Lola has baggage of her own. Her 3 bandmates are like family and when Milo needs her she rushes to him, not thinking about what could be waiting for her. When their rescue ends both find themselves in a police cell.

Rep leaves Lola at the police station to rush off to ‘handle’ his issues, his issues being the board. And then ignores her phone calls and texts until he shows up at the hospital to see her. Things go down hill after that. Is there a way to really fix things between them or is that Rock Princess and football star down for the count?

Ah I LOVED Lola. Her energy and spirit jumps off the page. She is so full of life and doesn’t make excuses for what she has done in the past. It is all apart of her and if you want to be with her then you accept her past and move on past it. That to me was an awesome trait for a female lead to have.

Rep on the other hand is cautious, rightfully so, after what happened with his ex wife, and even though he loves the game he finds himself thinking about life after football, a wife, kids, a house. He isn’t one to fight for what he wants if it hurts his image to do so and for that I hated him. He was more concerned about what people, who didn’t even know him, thought of him. But then at the end I loved him again.

This is another great book for those looking for a fast paced fun read with lots of hot steamy sex!

First impressions………sometimes they ignite a spark that leads to a burning fire.

As a pro football player, Rep Grissom wants nothing more than to concentrate on his impending contract negotiations. After an explosive end to his marriage, his frustrations carried over to the field and his game began to suffer. Now that his troubles are in the past - Rep tries his best to stay away from women with drama. Concentrating solely on his career.

When Rep is awakened by fighting in the condo next door, he can’t help but respond. What he discovers is his new neighbor - Lola Corbin in an argument with one of her band members. As Rep diffuses the situation, he feels an immediate attraction to the notorious ‘wild child’.

After years of touring with her band, Lola is beginning to tire of the rock star lifestyle. Her band is on the brink of a melt-down and their future is uncertain. For once - Lola is considering life without the people that have become her family through music. When she comes face-to-face with Rep, a temptation grows that Lola didn’t realize she wanted.

When a ‘thank you’ dinner ignites a fire to their passion, Lola and Rep decide to see where their attraction will lead them. As they spend more time in their ‘no strings’ relationship, trouble comes knocking on their door. With circumstances resulting that could end both their careers, Lola and Rep must decide if what they feel is really worth fighting for.

Daring the Player was a quick read that did not disappoint. I loved the chemistry between Lola and Rep. Their attraction was something that could not be ignored…resulting in a really hot romance!! Now - can I have some more Rep???

I really enjoyed this book. I am in love with the Dare to Love series by Carly Phillips. This book features characters from those books and similar surroundings. This is my second book by this author and the more I read from her... the more I love her books. This book was short and fast paced but packed quite a punch. It was sweet, sexy, steamy, and had one very sweet ending!

This is Lola and Rep's story. Rep is a professional football player. He has been burned in the past so he doesn't really want love and is definitely not looking for a relationship. As he gets older, he just wants football and a piece of mind. What he doesn't want or need is his younger neighbor who happens to be a wild rock and roll girl but when he comes to her rescue, he can't deny he wants her. Lola is having issues with friends when her white knight comes to her rescue. She wants Rep and she will make her his, if only for a little fun between the sheets. As the sparks ignite between these two, feelings become involved. Will these two be able to find a happy ending?

I liked Rep. He was sweet and funny with a side of full on charms and dimples! And Lola... she was wild and could hold her own. These two had chemistry. These two had sparks. At the end, I did want to smack Rep but boy did he end up making me swoon! Oh I liked seeing sneak peeks of Ian from the Dare to Love series! That was a great tie in!

I highly recommend this book!

Holy batcave batman this was one steamy book. I so fell in love with Rep. He is sin on a stick while be kind and sweet. Lola is a walking contradiction. What I mean is her outward persona isn't what she really is but what was set up so that it helps her rock star image. This is one steamy book. The intimacy between Lola and Rep rock the pages. The romantic gestures from Rep will have for Lola will have you aww and fall in love with him. Which is needed when he has a understandable but frustrating jackass moment and hurts Lola's feelings.

At first when Rep meets lola he is attracted but stays away because of her reputation. He becomes her white knight there but is afraid because he is in a contract renewal phase and doesn't want anything to affect it. Also his past with his ex has him fearful and wary. So he tries to fight his attraction. Good thing Lola is persistent and we get to see a different side to her. She breaks down his defenses and wow they are smokin together. He is protective of her and yet they both feel safe with each other and trusts one another.

A sexy steamy tale of two individuals wary to trust and love but yet they find one another and cannot let go. A book where the characters have you rooting for them to find one another and support one another for both are lovable and just keep you rooting for a HEA. A great love story for a cold day that will definitely warm you up.

Thanks Rock Star PR for a free copy to read and review.

Loved it! I'm not a big novella reader because they tend to be too short but this was absolutely great. Miami Thunder Wide Receiver Rep Grissom is trying to gain a new contract, so he can't have any mishaps until it's a done deal. Already been burned by one relationship, he's often seen as conserved and quiet. His next door neighbor is Lola Corbin, a rockstar who uses chaos as a middle name. After an incident one night they hook up, and Rep learns that maybe there is more to Lola then meets the eye. I really enjoyed there banter, and the chemistry was sizzling. Overall entertainment was five stars. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves contemporary romance. Love the cover too.....HOT!

Absolutely fantastic! I am loving this series of books featuring players from the Thunder (the fictional football team in Carly Phillip's Dare to Love series)and the women that completely tame them. In this novella Robin Covington brings us Thunder's Rep Grissom and wild rocker Lola Corbin. Their attraction is hot and intense but with the baggage of the past and the media dogging their every move the future doesn't look great!!

This one is sexy hot and you definitely don't want to miss it! I highly recommend it.

A quick, sexy read with open, honest characters with no pretense. Rep and Lo were made for each other and Ms. Covington did a wonderful job creating enough sexual tension to smoke up the screen of my iPad. When the going gets tough and Rep's career is in question, Lo doesn't mince words. I love the tell it like it is exchanges between them, and the love scenes sizzle. No simpering drama here, just in your face honesty, well written and attention holding. Highly recommended.

Great writing! Fun story! Short, quick and to the point.

Lola and Rep had great instant chemistry. While this story is part of the Dare series, it's definitely a standalone.

Enough comic relief to keep my emotions in tact. Lola is loyal and devoted, but also strong willed. I love that in a heroine. Rep is quiet and reserved, except with her. Not quite brooding, but semi-moody

5 Homerun Stars!!!!! Arc provided by author for an honest review. These Dare novellas are so hot and fun. Lola and Rep had awesome chemistry. I loved how Lola was a strong confident woman, in and out of the bedroom. Rep... strong, slightly broody, sexy football star. and he becomes totally "smitten" with Lola. Big Bad football player brought to his knees.... in more ways than one.

Lola and Rep were delish. I devoured this story and cannot wait for more. I'm not a big novella fan but this one had all the right elements. The writing was superb and the characters had enough substance and development that I felt I got a complete story. From what I've seen of this "Dare" series, this is just the beginning! I'm STILL hot under the collar with that club scene. :-p

Lola is twenty-three, sexually experienced and Rep is ten years her senior. They meet shortly after she moves in next door and he saves her from a skirmish with a drug dependent bandmate whose life is spiralling out of control.

Their two worlds collide. He finds her unpretentious and seductive.

She is in search of a lifestyle change...possibly a solo career since everyone in the band is restless and she worries about Milo’s drug addiction.

Rep’s very public divorce leaves him wary of negative entanglements and he maintains a low, untarnished profile in order to earn his last contract.

She insists on repaying his repeated kindness with dinner and although he initially refuses she convinces him otherwise and takes him to a restaurant off the beaten path.

Their bantering following their unconventional introduction and preconceived notions of each other force them to live in the moment.

After dinner, she persuades him to go dancing...”Don’t worry old man. I’ll have you back before the nursing home curfew.
“f@#& you, he laughed and slid the bill over to her. And for that comment, you can pay”. She grabbed the bill and signaled for the waiter.

Unfortunately, her drama intersperses into his career prospects causing him to ignore and blame her for making him into a public spectacle.

He shows up unexpectedly after going radio-silent and ignoring her messages, to a distant Lola.
(Rep) “I had responsibilities. People who depended on me”.
(Lola) “I’m sorry. I thought I was one of those people”.
(She lives a microscopic life in a fish bowl of criticism and scrutiny).

He appeared as spent as she felt, but she felt little sympathy after exhausting her energy alone in a hospital room desperately witnessing her friend fight for his life.

“That little game is my livelihood and if I hadn’t been out saving your junkie friend I would have lived up to my responsibilities.
“You think my taking care of one of my oldest friends, my saving his goddamn life is the reason you can’t keep an oval ball in your hands? Well, don't let me keep you from your responsibilities”.

The distance allows him to think objectively forcing him to face...the importance of her in his life. He makes his public, grand gesture...leading to, HEA.

😬😬 you can just … really tell that this was originally published in 2015. from the first description of miss lola to the way this story is framed … no thanks!! also way to drop a 23-33 age gap with no warning, would not have gone here had i known!!!! that’s just … too big when she’s That young. also, an 8 mil. CONDO?? the fact that she doesn’t know his jersey #? i do think the short length didn’t help things and perhaps a full-length novel would’ve offered enough depth to make this work, but as it is … delete, delete, delete

Another example of Robin's great writing style, it was a fun story, quick and to the point, but it definitely left me wanting for more of Rep and Lola. The sex scenes were so hot and detailed, they left me hot and ready to climb on top of my husband.

Lola and Rep had great chemistry from the moment he stepped in as her white knight and saved her (or so he perceived) from an escalating and dangerous situation.

I loved that Lola is portrayed as a strong female who has a few demons of her own and she is seeking someone who understands her and won't desert her. I can also say that I am glad to see a strong female character who while having issues, they don't stem from a bad family/parental situation. She and Rep both have parents who have been married for the long haul and I love this little tidbit of information laced into the story.

I loved that Rep is strong, reserved and slightly moody, but I think this is portrayed from him being burned in the relationship department in the past; but he definitely opens up once Lola gets beyond his barriers.

My only disappointment - I wish this story had actually been longer and I would love to know the backstory on Jaime and Jack (their relationship as well as their connection to Rep). I would love to see a follow-up on Rep and Lola a few months/years down the line.

Robin Covington is back with a bang with this new novella set in the Dare to Love world from Carly Phillips.

This is a quick, fun, hot and I do mean hot read. The pages sizzle with the spark Rep and Lola create. It also has plenty of laugh out loud moments and tender moments.

And unless she turned into a psycho shrew with tentacles, he was going to take her to bed.

From the moment Thunder wide receiver Rep Grissom charges in and plays white night to Tangles Royal singer Lola Corbin it's game on with this two.

"Oh my God. The dirty mouth. She’d let him do whatever he wanted as long as he kept it up"

Rep who has been burned by a nasty divorce and Lola who had been living life on the road fall head first into lust. But that quickly turns into something more.

“I am beguiled by you. Your mind, your soul, your body. The entire package.”

But when a trip to help a friend goes wrong and the media gets a hold of it and the crap hits the fan, can the happiness they have found with each other survive the media and fan frenzy? Plus will it jeopardise the contract Rep is about to sign?

Grab your game snacks, a comfy spot and huddle down for a red hot read that will leave you with a goofy grin by the end of it and have you running for the other books in this series.

Rep Grissom, wide receiver for the Miami Thunder, is awoken at 2 in the morning by his new neighbour: Lola Corbin, lead singer of a super popular rock and band. It seemed to have quieted down, but then Rep hears some noises, and he goes to see what’s happening. When he gets there, Lola is hurt, and there are 2 guys. Rep gets rid of them. It happens one was another band member, high on drugs and the other guy a dealer. Rep takes care of Lola’s cuts and bruises. Physically, she’s just his type but she reminds him too much of his ex-wife, which is definitely not good. But neither can deny the attraction they feel, and Rep decides to give Lola a try; he just can’t resist her!

Wow! Talk about hot! Robin Covington does it again! Although it’s a novella, we get to know a lot about Lola and Rep’s lives, what makes them tick, and they are fabulous characters! Lola is fun, enthusiastic, honest, direct, wild; she is simply wonderful! Rep is more reserved … in public, but in private: he is as sexy as you can get. They connect like no one’s business! The story moves quickly, there is some drama for both characters, and the dialogues are so much fun.

And the sex scenes? As hot as anything you can think of!

I loved Lola and Rep so much, I hope we can read more about them in the future.

Rep needs to keep a low profile, he's so close to signing a new contract to play football in Miami. But when Lola moves in next door things are anything but quiet.

Lola wanted to get away from L.A. and all the Hollywood hype so she moves to Miami, the first night she meets Rep he saves her from a bad situation. Things are all downhill from there.

Rep and Lola are smoking hot together. They find that they have a connection that neither one wants to walk away from but the board members are pushing Rep to stay away from Lola they don't want a repeat of what happened a few years ago. But Fate has different ideas and Rep and Lola must overcome the odds to be together.

This is a great story, I love how Robin makes this story come alive and how you feel the emotions of both Rep and Lola their laughter, tears and frustrations. The love they both have and the hopes that they will find a way to make it all work.

Peter "Rep' Grissom, Jr was a big time football player for the Miami Thunder, living the dream and with a new contract to be renewed, he just needed to keep his nose clean. Then along comes Lola Corbin, rock star Goddess of the mega rock band Tangled Royal. She has moved into the condo next door and the parties are long and noisy. Rep can't sleep so he watches TV, when he hears noises and yelling coming from her apartment, he goes to the rescue. There is an instant attraction and while Rep tries to fight the feelings, Lola is waiting to embrace them. When things go way off the rails, Rep shuts down his brain and his anger takes over. When Lola doesn't listen to his apology, he has to resort to something big. Can he get her to forgive him? Will Lola be able to move on after Rep? This is a great story and I loved it and I want more.

I love the Dare shared story universe. The authors involved in this project never fail to deliver and the football team common thread makes for interesting and sexy stories.
In this one, Rep Grissom is relaxing at home, bemoaning the arrival of his noisy rock star neighbour and her loud parties when a commotion breaks out next door. Never one to stand by when somebody’s in trouble, he wades, barefoot into the middle of a fight between lead singer Lola Corbin and one of her band mates. Grateful for the assistance, she invites him to dinner … and the rest is history, but when the participants are a star football player in the middle of contract negotiations and a rock and roll star whose band is falling apart, the course of true love never does run smooth.
Daring the Player is hot, sweet and often funny, a story about a love between two worlds. You will love it.

Loved It!
I loved this novella by Robin Covington. Rep Grissom is the pro football legend who plays for the Miami Thunder, he is on the brink of getting the highest paid football contract, but he needs to stay focused on the game. Lola is the lead singer in the world’s biggest rock band, but they are having problems and are talking about breaking up. Lola is Rep’s new neighbor. They are instantly attracted to each other and things heat up pretty quick. This is such a great book, and can be read in one sitting. I highly recommend this book. I am looking forward to the next book.

What? A female rock star? That's great. I loved this book!
"That's two times in three days that you've come to my rescue and I'm going to insist that you let me thank you properly." Um, I can think of several ways to thank him! Mmmm.. Rep is one hot sexy demanding hunk of man and I want one of my own! Lola is so lucky I'm almost #Jealous!
This book is witty. "Don't worry old man. I'll have you back before the nursing home curfew." Oh my god, I almost spit out my coffee!

This book was great. I loved the characters and the story. The drama was just right that it didn't take away from how sexy the story was. This is a fantastic story. I say bravo to all the books in the Kindle World. They are fantastic!
