Bi-Coastal Commitment
Crescent City has been my home for most of my life. I own a thriving bar, featuring my name above the door, and singlehandedly raised a beautiful daughter. I’m comfortable. The one thing missing is someone special to fill the loneliness. Fate was about to change that.
A dynamic TV weatherman from San Francisco walked through the door of my bar needing a place to stage his live storm coverage. Winston Summers and his gold eyes held me captive. I'm a gay man now retired and living in the high desert of Nevada, I enjoys watching sports, especially football, baseball, and golf. I also love to cook and bake, work out at the gym, and incessantly read romance novels.
When relaxing, I can often be seen following the call of the disco ball or even raving to electronic dance music. Favorite casino games of chance include Craps and Roulette.
I was always a visual artist but decided to try my hand at writing as a different avenue of creativity.

Bi-Coastal Commitment is a heartfelt, emotionally charged romance that captures the messy, exhilarating process of falling in love across distance and identities.
When we first met Eli in book one, I suspected he’d be a great candidate for a bi-awakening story. I was absolutely right. Bi-Coastal is Eli’s story, and it’s fantastic.
Eli never expected the charming TV weatherman who walked into his bar during a raging tropical storm to upend his world and everything he thought he knew about himself. Eli has always considered himself straight, so what is it about Winston that makes him question everything? Winston, on the other hand, knew the instant he met Eli that he wanted to know him better.
What makes this book truly shine is its perfect balance of romantic tension and emotional realism. The long-distance aspect never feels contrived, their texts, phone calls, and weekend visits crackle with chemistry and longing. Gene handles Eli’s bisexual awakening with tenderness avoiding clichés while exploring the blend of excitement, confusion, and fear that comes with redefining one’s sense of self.
A suspenseful subplot involving a stalker adds just the right touch of intrigue without overshadowing the romance. I was convinced I had it figured out… I did not. Shocked is an understatement.

This was my first book by Gene Michaels, and I was more than pleasantly surprised. The story revolved around how Eli, bar owner finds himself working through his sexuality when he is confronted with an ever-growing attraction to Wynn, a local TV celebrity.
I won't go more into detail other than to say that Gene did a wonderful and respectful job in describing Eli's conundrum, as well as showing us how to best support someone who is dealing with their sexuality with Wynn's response.
I also enjoyed the subtext of a mystery with multiple red hearings.
Overall a wonderful read!

So amazing!
This book blew me away. It wasn’t what I expected. It had action, finding yourself, and the sweetest love story. This book gave a wonderful man a second chance at love. He found himself and the love of his life. It had a good mix of spice and action that kept me turning the pages. It was a five star for me.
