Stephanie’s views will be controversial or at least radical to sone or maybe many but not to me or others like me or Stephanie who lost a loved one to this insidious health crisis of addiction.
I used to believe in the status quo of the so called experts who shoved antiquated, one-size fits all treatments based on a faith and abstinent based ideal created by AA. WRONG! Instead of continuing to reply to those who struggle to “just don’t use” and go to 90 meetings in 90 days or insurance companies who believe 30 days inpatient treatment is enough or the legal system who believes the problem can be solved through arrests and convictions destroying people’s ability to be able to find good, accomplishing jobs, why not try something that works? Why not humanize the process? Why not remove stigmas and keep those with Opioid Use Disorder from dying and their families from grieving.
