Lusty, Texas #25

A Very Lusty New Year

Rate this book
It’s November 1979 and Anna Cooper knows her mother wants her to find a rich husband but Anna refuses to fall in line with the plan.

Since her mother has always harangued her for being fat and frumpy, she knows no man would want her any way. Eschewing the idle-rich existence her mother lives, Anna wants a job, and answers an intriguing ad in the paper.

Craig and Jackson Jessop might be considered investment gurus, but organized they are not. They decide what they need is an office manager—someone who can create order out of their chaos and manage them. It would be helpful, too, if the successful candidate possessed good pattern recognition skills.

The minute they set eyes on Anna Cooper, they know she was meant to be theirs. Winning her as their bride should be easy. All they have to do is negotiate their way past a beast of a future mother-in-law, a con man looking to scalp them, and the biggest obstacle of all—Anna, herself, who doesn’t seem to know what a gem she truly is.

I love reading these stories set in Lusty, love the town and how the people that live there view themselves. But I really like these blast from the past with the elder women that we have gotten to know. It's interesting to see them not as how they are now that they have bloomed in Lusty, but as they were first coming to the odd town.

I will say that this one really threw me. The Anna that we know now is so confident in herself and her place in Lusty, that seeing her as a timid hen pecked woman was odd. I hated that Anna had to grow up with a mother like hers, that her father didn't step up for her, instead cleared out to pave the way for the abuse. I can understand why Craig and Jack so discombobulated her with their attention, she wasn't used to it, was used to waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I loved that both men, along with all the other Lusty residents showed her that how she grew up was the exception, that what she found in Lusty was the norm.

One of the things I love about Cara Covington is that she doesn't leave one story untold. How did Lusty start? She writes Sarah and Amanda's story. How did Grandma Kate come to Lusty, we got her story. This story is about how Anna comes to Lusty to be with Craig and Jackson Jessop.

The story starts in the present and Anna decides to share the whole truth with her children about how she fell in love with their fathers. We flash back to 1979 just before Christmas. Anna decides to take her life into her own hands and defies her mother and gets a job. Craig and Jackson desperately needs someone to organize them so they advertise. The minute they see her, they know they have found their ONE.

As usual, this story is full of love, passion, and a little adventure as well. I expect nothing less from Ms. Covington.

A Very Lusty New Year

A story that is as powerful as Grandma Kate's in A Very Lusty Christmas and is in some ways soooo much more. Each book in the Lusty, Texas series is good enough to stand on its own. But you get so much more when the entire series is read in order! A storyline that is as powerful or even more so than you could find in some single books. This entire series is about love, family and so much more. This book itself is one of the many memorable books in this series. Anna learns to step outside the box as created by her mother who has never accepted her. She learns that she can be herself and yet still love those around her. Anna also learns that she can hold her own even when she is outnumbered by the testosterone that surrounds her. She also learns that love is a very powerful force to be reckoned with and can conquer a lot of things.

Each character has their own facet that adds not only to the individual story but also contributes to the stories in the rest of series. To get the best layering of detail, it is best to read the series in order.

I am thrilled to have finally read Anna's story. I love going back in time with the Lusty family and seeing how the older couples met and fell in love. This one has got to be my favorite in the historic Lusty stories so far. I just ADORED Anna along with Craig and Jackson. The attraction was instant and hot and the love was strong, sweet, and the men loving and caring and oh so protective of their beautiful Anna, especially when dealing with her mother. I loved how everything came together with these three and sighed throughout the WHOLE FREAKING STORY!! Morgan Ashbury aka Cara Covington, you blow my mind with your incredible books!! I can't wait to see what else you got in store with us this year in Lusty!!!

This is another great story by Cara Covington! I love this series. I just wish there was a tree to look at to see how everyone is related. Craig, Jack, and Anna's story helped some. I still don't know who Terrence and Jeremy's parents are....LOL

Cara Covington has written another wonderful, insightful book. I love all her stories about the quaint little town of Lusty Texas. Her stories always grab me from the first sentence and I enjoy every word of them.

I liked this sweet 'throwback' story in the series. Anna is a frequent recurring character as the current curator of the Lusty, Texas museum. She's also the mother of the MCs of several books. I also liked the fact that there is no BDSM in the book.
