It’s the sleepover of the year! There’s going to be pizza, scary movies, cheap alcohol the girls had to convince a random guy at the shop to buy and, of course, a ritual to make Shelly’s crush fall in love with her. What can go wrong?
Tonight, the girls come face to face with the harsh reality of messing with ghosts and demons and will have to (pillow) fight their way through in order to survive.
I’m going to start this off by saying I love everything about this book! From the Steve Rhodes-esque cover to the perfectly captured early 2000s sleepover vibes (without the demon, probably). It’s such a fun classic horror book and was actually waaaay more gory than I was expecting! I ate this up and you should check it out.
The nostalgia & flashbacks to my teenage years this book gave me from the get go was brilliant. I instantly was hooked just due to that fact.
The girls have that very typical friend group dynamic & I liked seeing each of their personalities. It definitely felt familiar in the best way.
It’s gives that early 00’s sleepover feeling, with WKD, references to horror movies & ‘Stiff as a board, Light as a feather’ vibes as well as lots of humour between the girls.
The breakdown of the girls’ friendships & Page having to step up after the initial incident really showed how Shelly was a huge part of that group, practically holding the girls together.
The horror vibe was there & it did give an uneasy feeling & a ‘final girl’ type feel but it wasn’t overly scary. I really loved this book. I was always on edge throughout it, not knowing where it was going next.
I won this book in a giveaway on TikTok & I was so excited to jump into this one! This book is sooo fun! A bunch of friends have a sleepover and one of them decides to help one of the girls with their crush by doing a ritual & of course everything goes wrong....
I love classic horror books like this, yaas gimme ouija boards, gimme demons, gimme creepy, gross shit i love it!
What could possibly go wrong when performing a ritual to get the guy you like to love you back? Well if you read this gory tale you'll soon find out! This book has nostalgia mixed with gore and a sprinkle of WKD Blue. I loved every second of this. Don't mess with the supernatural at a sleepover kids. Stick to using your dream phone.
I...think this was good? I enjoyed it, but I'm not a massive straight up horror reader so it maybe just a bit novel for me. I absolutely loved the proper British coloquialisms and tidbits from my 'School dayz'. Good short story, I'd have like a little more at end as it was quite abrupt but all in all, I liked it.
