A modern woman. The Highland Chieftain she thought she’d lost forever. A love that defies time itself.
When historical linguist Caitlin Donaldson returns to her childhood home of Craigievore Castle after her parents’ sudden deaths, she expects grief, not ghosts from her past. But waiting in the shadows is Duncan MacReady—the man who vanished from her life without a word.
Only now, he claims to be a sixteenth-century Highland chieftain—and before Caitlin can demand answers, he drags her back through time itself.
In his own century, Duncan is fighting to save his clan from destruction. The key lies in an ancient inscription only Caitlin can decipher. She’s his only hope. But every secret he hides, and every spark that still burns between them, threatens to destroy them both.
Caitlin can’t return to her world without his help. Duncan can’t save his people without hers. And as loyalty, love, and time collide, they must decide what’s worth saving… and what they’re willing to lose forever.
Time of the Chieftain begins an epic new time-travel romance series from the author of Stones of Scotland—where passion bridges centuries and destiny is written in the stars.
I have always found historical fiction and time travel fascinating – so I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story combining the two. The whole idea of being able to control travel back-and-forth in time is just so interesting! Of course the drama of other nefarious characters with unsavoury goals really added to the story. Descriptions of the different periods of time and even the contrasting technology was very engaging. With a hint of something more yet to come, I’ll be looking for another novel in this series – if there is one!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The story started making sense about a quarter of the way in and then took off like a rabbit. Hard to put down and I was hoping to see references to the next book. Great book!
