What's the harm in a little secret fling?

Calling a Scottish castle in the Highlands “home” may sound like a fantasy to some, but as a twenty-four-year-old woman rooming with her father, Skye doesn’t feel like she’s living the dream. Every day, she tries to write her novel to fulfill her actual dream of becoming a best-selling author and earn enough to repair the family castle, currently crumbling around them, but the words won’t come. Until her father rents out their home to an American film production and she meets Miles Casey.

Miles’s open lust for life captivates Skye. Seeing her home through fresh eyes invigorates her love for it and reignites her passion for writing. She’s undeniably attracted to Miles, but Skye has vowed never to date long distance ever again.

Skye’s passion for writing, music, and even how much she hates the chickens she feeds twice a day, rivets Miles. He would like to get to know her better, but after a tabloid posts a picture of the two leaving a bookshop, he promises the director he won’t jeopardize the production by trying to date one of the hosts. Miles needs this film. It will prove acting is what he’s meant to do and not just something he fell into, hopefully.

Despite knowing they shouldn’t, Miles and Skye agree to a secret fling. With their feelings intensifying and Miles’s time in Scotland ticking by, Skye must choose if she’ll change her life for him.

Scotland is definitely on my bucket list to visit now!!

I loved the vibe of this book - it was really refreshing honestly.

Him falling hard and first was probably one of my favorite parts. Miles is an actor but being a celebrity doesn’t mean he has to act like your typical one.

Skye is the grumpy one! Each of them have been burned in the past so the tough exterior and walls she uses to guard herself are there for a reason! Miles starts to knock them down before she even knows what’s coming.

The slow burn and atmosphere of this story was so fun the read! I also like dual pov - for some reason I feel like I read them faster 😂 overall, definitely recommend! Thank you @happilybookedpr and @ncbartonwrites for the early read. All opinions are my own.

Romance, Choices, and Misty Lochs: 'Meet Me at the Loch'

In beautiful Scotland, Skye lives with her father in a castle. To earn some extra money, her father arranges for a film to be shot there. Skye, who is working on her own book, isn’t entirely happy about this. She wants to work in peace, especially since she is currently struggling to write.

Alongside Skye, we follow Miles Casey, an actor in the film. To play his role convincingly, he explores the castle’s surroundings and talks to Skye. A secret relationship develops between them, which must remain hidden because Miles needs to protect his acting career. Ultimately, Skye faces a choice between her work and her feelings for Miles.

N.C. Barton pays great attention to the setting; you truly feel immersed in Scotland, with its misty lochs, expansive landscapes, and picturesque villages. The story is easy to read, with short chapters and natural dialogue that keep the pace flowing. The main characters grow gradually closer, making their relationship feel believable and emotionally engaging. The strength of "Meet Me at the Loch" lies primarily in its atmosphere and structure rather than in unexpected plot twists. Some developments are predictable, but this doesn’t diminish the pleasure of reading. The supporting characters could have been developed further, which would have added more depth to the story.

The book has a calming, almost dreamy atmosphere that perfectly suits the misty Scottish lochs. At the same time, it explores the difficulty of balancing personal ambitions with relationships, a theme that feels relatable and genuine. Readers who enjoy romantic stories set in atmospheric locations will feel right at home here. Fans of Fiona Harper or Kirsty Greenwood will find exactly the same combination of romance, emotion, and beautiful Scottish scenery.

All in all, "Meet Me at the Loch" is a charming and atmospheric story that offers both relaxation and romance. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys slowly developing relationships, stunning landscapes, and a warm, engaging story.

Thanks to Happily Booked PR for this eARC! An honest review.

Een dromerige romance in Schotland: 'Meet Me at the Loch’

This book was like a warm hug and I loved it! The dual POV and the change of location from my usual reads was refreshing! Miles and Skye were Sweet and passionate, letting their feelings sweep them away, showing us that some love stories begin simply and that the things you think will pull you apart are the ones that inevitably will bring you closer together.

The writing was flowing and intentional, so cozy, perfect for this holiday season. I loved the way Miles wasn’t this Hollywood superstar who was just playing another part - he knew what he wanted and he leaned into his feeling without hesitation. They’ve both been burned in the past and the way they felt about each other was the missing piece that completed their journeys to who they were meant to be.

Thank you NC Barton for letting me sneak a peak into your world. Maybe if I stay long enough I too will have a Nessie sighting story of my own: if nothing else, Scotland has just moved up my travel bucket list ♥️

Till the next one
With love

Such a charming, cozy read

Meet Me at the Loch gave me exactly what I wanted from a celebrity in the Highlands romance, swoony moments, a moody Scottish setting, and just the right amount of tension. Skye is a delightfully relatable heroine, trying to make her dreams happen while living in a castle that’s… let’s just say “past its prime.” And Miles? Total sunshine energy with a quiet depth I didn’t expect. Their chemistry feels natural, fun, and perfectly “we really shouldn’t do this… but also yes we should.”

I loved the mix of small town vibes, creative struggle angst, and the fish out of water moments that kept things light. The grumpy/sunshine dynamic is super cute without being over the top. My only tiny gripe is that a few parts moved a little slower than I wanted, but the atmosphere and the romance more than made up for it.

If you like secret flings, celebrity romances, and stories that feel like wrapping up in a warm blanket with a cup of tea, this one’s definitely worth picking up!

Shoutout to N.C. and Happily Book PR for the advanced copy!

Meet Me at the Loch by NC Barton is the kind of romance that wraps around you like a warm, Scottish breeze and refuses to let go until the very last page. I read this entire book in one night because the chemistry and the atmosphere were just that addictive.

First of all: the grumpy/sunshine dynamic? Absolute perfection — especially because she is the grumpy one. And not the “mean for no reason” type of grumpy. She’s guarded, prickly, and deeply human in a way that makes her instantly relatable. She’s been burned before and has learned to protect her peace, even if that means keeping her walls sky-high.

Then he shows up — a movie star with way more heart than ego, and the kind of gentle warmth that softens her edges before she even realizes it’s happening. He’s the sunshine in every sense: patient, steady, quietly flirty, and so clearly smitten that you can feel the shift every time they’re in a scene together. And the best part? He falls first. Hard. Silently. Completely. Watching him try to respect her boundaries while also being absolutely down bad for her is chef’s kiss romance gold.

The Scottish setting takes this book to another level. The loch, the chilly air, the historic stone buildings — everything feels so vivid that you’re practically transported there. It doesn’t just serve as a backdrop; it adds mood, tension, and softness all at once. Every scene by the water feels like it was dipped in a little bit of magic.

Their banter is sharp, sweet, and perfectly paced. She rolls her eyes, he tries not to smile too big; she grumbles, he teases; she keeps her guard up, and he quietly chips away at every brick. It’s the slow emotional unraveling that makes their connection feel so earned and so satisfying.

By the time you hit the last chapter, you’re rooting for them like they’re real people you personally know and desperately want to see get their happy ending.

If you love:
✨ grumpy/sunshine (with HER as the grump)
✨ celebrity x “ordinary life” romance
✨ he-falls-first
✨ cozy, atmospheric settings
✨ one-sitting reads

…then Meet Me at the Loch will be a five-star hit for you too.

I absolutely adored this one.

Meet Me at the Loch by N. C. Barton

Meet Me at the Loch is the book I didn’t know I needed to read this December. It’s full of heart, hope, and laughter. Skye, our FMC, lives in a castle in the Scottish Highlands with her father. They inherited the castle from their family. However, they are struggling to maintain the castle on their own. Skye is an author currently working on a new book in her spare time, but she is experiencing writer’s block. Enter Miles Casey, the handsome Hollywood actor. Skye and Miles’ meet-cute is funny (he’s getting into character and is wearing a kilt, there’s a lot of mud involved), and this event becomes the origin for her new book (but Miles doesn’t know that). On the flip side, unbeknownst to Skye, her father has offered their castle to Miles and his Hollywood film crew for use in their upcoming film. When she finds out she has to share their castle with an entire film crew for weeks on end, she is livid. However, the more time she spends around Miles, the more inspiration she finds for her book.

This book was a breath of fresh air, and I read it in one day. The author’s writing flows nicely between the dual points of view (Skye’s and Miles’). The author did a fantastic job describing the castle, the land, and the adjacent town. I felt like I was transported there as I was reading. Skye is portrayed as a strong, independent woman with big dreams. She is still family-oriented and shares the responsibility of looking after the castle and its animals. Miles is the typical Hollywood star, but as more is revealed about his character, we see that he is much more than just an actor. There are sweet romantic moments, stolen kisses, and even some surprises from the side characters (all wonderful as well). The Loch Ness Monster even makes an appearance!

I could go on and on with everything I loved about this book. I received everything I wanted and more from this reading experience, so I rated it five stars. You will like this book if you enjoy celebrity romance, secret romance, grumpy/sunshine, small towns, castles, Scotland, karaoke, and found family. Thank you to the author and Happily Booked PR for the arc copy. All opinions are my own.

This book gives off modern day fairytale vibes! FMC lives in a castle, meets an actor while he is filming on location, MMC falls first and hard, and the magic surrounding local lore ties it all together. NC Barton hooked me from the first book I read of hers and since then she is a must read author for me. Her newest release Meet Me at the Loch is book 1 in her Love on Location series and I am excited for what is to come.

Skye is no princess, but she does live in a castle with her father. She dreams of being an author and enjoys the quiet life she lives. Until her father rents out the castle for a film company to shoot their movie there. She isn’t thrilled about the disruption this could cause her writing, especially since she is already struggling with it. When she meets the leading man on the film, the disruption isn’t quite as negative anymore.

Miles needs to protect his acting career, but can’t help but immediately fall for Skye when they meet. So as their relationship grows they keep it secret, but what does that mean when filming comes to an end? And while Miles falls quickly, the relationship grows naturally and really takes time to solidify throughout the book. I love when the MMC is the sunshine in the book and Miles excels at this!

NC transports readers to Scotland, immersing them in the culture, lore, and scenery through her writing. I have always wanted to visit Scotland and this book just cultivated that desire even more. Her writing style is a mixture of cozy and magical, which has me hanging on every last one until the book is complete. I adored how she tied in Nessie to the storyline as well! How could you write a book in Scotland and not include one of the greatest legends of the country. A wonderful romance that I loved reading!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

"I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.” Meet me at the loch. The grumpy sunshine dynamic in this novel is exceptionally well executed, made even more engaging by the fact that Skye embodies the “grumpy” role. Her guarded and prickly nature never comes across as unreasonable; instead, it reflects a deeply human vulnerability that makes her instantly relatable. Past hurts have taught her to fiercely protect her peace, even if it means constructing formidable emotional walls.
The hero Miles Casey enters as a film star with far more sincerity than ego, bringing a quiet, gentle warmth that gradually softens her defenses. He is the embodiment of sunshine, patient, steady, subtly flirtatious, and unmistakably captivated by her from the start. The chemistry is palpable every time they share a scene. Most notably, he falls first, and he falls completely. His effort to honor her boundaries while still caring for her with unwavering devotion is romance at its finest. The Scottish landscape elevates the story beautifully. From the loch and its crisp air to the historic stone architecture, the setting is described with such vivid detail that it feels almost cinematic. It contributes not only atmosphere but emotional depth adding tension, softness, and a touch of magic. Every waterside moment feels enchantingly crafted. Their banter is sharp, charming, and effortlessly balanced. She rolls her eyes; he tries to hide his smile. She grumbles; he teases. She fortifies her walls; he tenderly but persistently chips away. This gradual emotional unraveling is what makes their relationship feel genuinely earned and deeply satisfying. By the final chapter, the characters feel so real and so endearing that you can’t help rooting for them as though they were people in your own life people you earnestly hope will find their well deserved happily ever after.💛

Oh the tales of the Loch Ness monster are legendary. So many people have claimed to see it yet there has never been conclusive proof that there is anything living at the bottom of Loch Ness. Do I believe? Perhaps I do. Or maybe I don’t. What I do know is that I loved this story of Skye and Miles and their meet cute in a kilt.

I love Scotland, it is a beautiful place and the author did a great job at capturing the feel and the essence of the country. I could picture myself on the banks of Loch Ness, in a beautiful cottage in Skye or a drafty old castle looking for a restoration.

I also loved the characters in this book. Miles was adorable from the start, definitely falling fast for the beautiful and headstrong Skye. She wants nothing to do with the whole Hollywood glamour life, having been burnt by a wannabe in her ex. Yet somehow she needed Miles, he was her muse for her writing and she was much more productive when he was near, much to her consternation.

The supporting characters were also interesting. I’m looking forward to Minnie’s story next, she deserves a happy ending. I hope to see glimpses of Skye and Miles’s future as well as her father Callum’s. Ty was unpleasant, as he was meant to be, but not so much as I hated him, I enjoyed seeing how he would act up next. The rest of the crew were fun as well, Elsie became a firm friend of Skye’s almost instantly, they bonded over their writing and had fun together.

I’m looking forward to continuing this series with the next Love on Location.

Grumpy Sunshine

If you’re looking for a "grumpy sunshine" celebrity romance set against a backdrop so scenic, you've found your next obsession. Meet Me at the Loch is pure, cozy chaos in the best way possible.
Miles is the quintessential grumpy recluse, and Skye is the human equivalent of a cheerful, slightly chaotic sunbeam. Their dynamic is comedy gold. The banter is sharp, natural, and genuinely funny—it felt less like reading a book and more like awkwardly third-wheeling a very charming first date.
Barton expertly contrasts the absurdity of celebrity life (paparazzi! drama!) with the serene, loch-side chill. Honestly, the description of the scenery alone is worth five stars; my couch suddenly feels incredibly inadequate.
Sure, some of the celebrity drama felt like standard genre fare, but who cares when the emotional payoff is this good? I was shamelessly invested in their journey from "initial friction" (read: eye-rolling on both sides) to a deeply satisfying happy ending.

10/10 would recommend to family, friends, and that random person you see in the bookstore looking lost. It's the perfect rainy afternoon read—just make sure you have tea.

This absolutely delightful romance feels like a classic. Like a Cary Grant or an Audrey Hepburn movie. Like the perfect cup of tea on a blissfully rainy day or a cold lemonade on the porch in the summer. It is filled with complex characters, a village of quirky but lovable nosy bodkins, enough drama to keep us interested, two hearts we are rooting for, and a wee bit of magic. NC Barton’s latest is both sweet and spicy and centers around two characters grappling with baggage and misapprehensions but full of hope and love.

NC Barton has created a delightful village in Scotland that I can’t wait to return to. Her vivid descriptions transported me to Loch Ness and the surrounding area, and I felt as though I was there alongside Skye and Miles. And what is more romantic than a castle on the edge of the mythic loch, a writer who rides her bike through inclement weather, a warm pub full of friends, and a movie star who always falls first? I nearly swooned just from the location!

Pick up this book and sink into the magic of Scotland, of love that won’t be ignored, and characters that both enrage and enrapture you. It’s a timeless story. A classic romance. A modern fairy tale.

I received a copy of this book from the author and all opinions are my own.

What’s the harm in a little secret fling? Other than getting utterly swept away by a book you didn’t see coming—absolutely none.

I picked this book up right after finishing an ARC that absolutely wrecked me emotionally, and this was exactly the warm, cozy reset my heart needed. Scotland holds a special place in my heart (my love story ended very differently LOL), so reading about Skye’s crumbling Highland castle and the magic of the landscape felt like stepping right back into a place I love.

This is the second book I’ve read by N.C. Barton, and once again I was completely swept away. Her writing style is wonderfully easy to fall into, descriptive without ever dragging, immersive without ever feeling heavy. She builds characters with real depth, and their emotional growth always lands exactly where it should.

Skye and Miles’s story has all the right ingredients:
✨ He falls first
✨ Celebrity romance
✨ Fish out of water charm
✨ Grumpy/Sunshine dynamic

Their chemistry is immediate, the slow burn is delicious, and the push-and-pull of “we probably shouldn’t… but we definitely want to” kept me smiling the whole way through. It’s the perfect escapist love story; comforting, funny, heartfelt, and just the right amount of swoony (and a wee bit of drama).

If you’re looking for a romance to get lost in, or you just need a book to stitch your heart back together after another one rips it apart, this is the one.

✨Gifted ARC✨

Wow, wow, wow! I picked up this book because of the stunning cover, but stayed because of the amazing story NC Barton wove for our MCs Miles and Skye.

THOUGHTS 💭
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This book felt like a love letter to Scotland; the scenery and the people and the buildings and the stars and the lifestyle… Every part of the author’s description of the Scottish village of Foyers was perfection.
🎬 Reverse grumpy sunshine is such a great trope that I don’t see often enough! Skye was a tough nut to crack for the charming Miles; she is hurting and she’s a sassy, sarcastic FMC because of it.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I love that playboy Miles gets tongue-tied around the pretty Scot when he first meets her; that he can’t get her out of his head.
🎬 Whenever the FMC of a book is a writer, I always wonder how much of the author’s real life/process is in that character!
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I absolutely adored the chemistry between these two - from the start, there is an instant attraction that our characters can’t ignore.
🎬 Not only does this book focus on the budding romance between our two MCs, but also on loss and life lessons.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 What a wonderful happily ever after! 😍

Thanks so much to NC Barton and Happily Booked PR for the ARC of this book!

Skyes great great great several more greats grandfather won a castle in a card game what are the odds? And now she lives in said castle, after a tour went haywire she messages her dad to talk her dad send her a celeb gossip article and won’t explain until later. When se arrives home there is miles Casey said celeb from the article. With more twist and turns that kinda make you giggle and hope for the couple. I feel like skyes dad has a different idea about Miles staying at the castle. Skye likes to write and miles likes to read, and after their afternoon together another gossip article miles is obsessed. After some time alone between skye and miles things get intresting because of Ty marshal and Natalie threw her wrench in there too and we can’t forget about Finn. This was cute romance where the movie and book play out in real life, miles and skye are cute together, the chapters are shorts and make for a quick easy read once you get sucked in. I also really enjoy that this books mentions selkies. Not only does Skye find love so Cullum.

Such an adorable, heart-warming read!

This book completely swept me away. It has that perfect mix of cozy charm, soft chemistry, and just-enough tension to keep you turning the pages. I loved being inside this world—the setting feels vivid and comforting, and the characters feel so real you can’t help rooting for them.

The FMC is easy to connect with, trying to find her footing in life, and the MMC? Absolutely stole my heart. He’s sweet in that quietly protective way, with just enough vulnerability to make their connection feel genuine. Watching their relationship unfold had me smiling through the whole book.

It’s well paced, beautifully written, and full of those little moments that make you fall in love with both the characters and the story. If you’re looking for something cute, uplifting, and filled with warm, swoony vibes—this is definitely one to pick up.

Thank you to happily booked pr and NC Barton for the opportunity to read this gem.

Skye lives in a Scottish castle. She dreams of becoming an author but spends most of her days giving tours of their home. Her father then rents the castle out to an American production company who want to film locally.

Skye meets the leading man, Miles, and realizes she had a huge crush on him growing up. Miles tends to fall quickly and usually for his leading ladies but being in Scotland, his eyes are quick to find Skye. The two spend time together as Skye shows Miles the best of what Scotland has to offer as he preps for his film role.

I adore a good grumpy sunshine and was intrigued with the prospect of Nessie stories! This was a cute and quick read with a captivating setting of the Scottish highlands! Both Skye and Miles have had rough past relationships and I was rooting for them to find happiness together.

Thank you to the author, NC Barton, and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read this book. I received an epub and am leaving my review voluntarily.

I received this as an ARC, and overall it was an enjoyable but mixed read for me. The setting was absolutely the highlight—this book definitely made me want to own a castle and run off to the loch immediately. The atmosphere and sense of place were charming, and I really appreciated the backstory woven throughout.

That said, there was just so much going on that the storyline started to feel muddled. Between multiple plot threads and background elements, it sometimes lost focus and made it hard to stay fully immersed.

The romance, unfortunately, didn’t quite land for me. It felt predictable and cheesy right from the start, with very little buildup or surprise. If you love instant, straightforward romance, this might work better for you—but I was hoping for a bit more depth and tension.

Overall, a cozy concept with a beautiful setting and solid backstory, but the overcrowded plot and overly obvious romance held it back for me.

This was an ARC read, from Happily Booked.

I really enjoyed the premise of this story, and it had some awesome parts. Skye lives in a Castle, near Loch Ness, and is certain she saw Nessie when she was young! Her days are filled with taking sight seers through her castle to help maintain it. After a particularly harrowing day, she returns home to find out her dad has rented out the castle to a film company . . . To help pay the bills. Well, they certainly need to do something, as the place is crumbling around them. Enter Miles, the actor Skye gad one of those fangirl crushes on when she was young, oh oh!!!
So at some stage I found myself kind of wandering off, so I sort of missed bits. I did finish the book, but had gaps where it just didn't hold my attention.

Three and half stars.

I adored this one! I read it in one day (granted it was during a long car ride but that is totally not the point). It has some spicy parts but not so much that you are wondering if there is any substance to the storyline.

The FMC, Skye, is down to earth, seems anti-love after witnessing one too many heartaches, slightly cynical, but loyal to friends and family and an aspiring writer.

The MMC, Miles, is a movie star trying to save his character from forever being in B-rated movies while still trying to find himself again.

I'd describe this as a romantic comedy with a smidge of drama and a few dashes of spice. I enjoyed this overall and it was a nice read for a long drive. It gave me the warm fuzzy feelings I long for with this type of read with a little bit of sizzle that didn't make me feel overly scandalous with my family so much as grin from ear to ear.

I found this story to be endearing and engaging. It is not often I find a reverse grumpy/sunshine book and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

It's the dream of many Americans to move to a castle in Scotland. Or is that just me? Anyway, Skye's family has owned a castle for several generations and she and her family have relocated from LA to help run and renovate the old beauty. The castle has fallen into a bit of disrepair, so the family supplements repair bills by providing tours and renting out parts of the castle for events, such as a movie location.

This is where we meet Miles, a celebrity who is filming the movie. There is attraction between Miles and Skye, but they aren't sure if they want a relationship....but a few meet ups are definitely on their minds!

I enjoyed this book and it was a quick and lighthearted read.

I loved this book, the snark, all of the characters were so well written, and I loved the supporting characters and their involvement with the MMCs. I love the journey that both Skye and Miles go through to finally hit that HEA. It's so well written with trouble and chaos in the middle. The relationship building was one of the good parts of this book! The Scottish background, and the very amazing description of the highlands, was so real it felt like I was there.

After reading this book all I want to do is pack up my bags and head to Scotland. This story hit every note I hoped for. It was sweet, poignant, emotional, funny, and spicy.

Skye and Miles were absolute perfection. I loved the spin on grumpy sunshine, with Skye carrying the gruff energy and Miles bringing that happy go lucky charm. Their banter and spicy moments played off this dynamic so well, and I was cheering for them the whole time.

The book could have stayed lighthearted, but the plot took a deeper turn that brought in powerful emotional subplots. That choice allowed the characters to feel fully developed and gave them meaningful arcs that made their journey even more satisfying.

I cannot wait to read the rest of this series.

He falls first!

Skye is struggling. She’s the grump in this grumpy x sunshine romance, trying to launch her career while attempting to maintain the castle that needs a tiny bit of work…
Miles is a ray of sunshine - for a famous actor, there’s little-to-no ego, and he falls fast. And hard.
And I don’t know… if you’re told not to date someone, you know just what’s going to happen….

It’s got humour.
It’s got banter.
It’s got emotion.
It’s got soul - the kind that you find in a cozy, moody, historical setting.
It’s got small-town charm.
And a whole lot of scenery that is described so beautifully, you can picture yourself there!

Stellar read, and I can’t wait to see what N. C. Barton comes up with next!

This is a charming and cozy read with some hilarious moments like the not so meet-cute. Miles is a star actor in his late twenties (he isn't even in his 30s and he has a long career so some times seems like he was a little older), and his new film will be filmed in a castle near the Ness loch/lake. And Skye's family owns that castle so she lives there, and fun fact she had a massive crush on Miles in her teens, and even sent him fan mail.

I loved their chemistry and how well balanced and down to earth he is, even when you could think that he is a romantic who loves to be in love. Skye has been burned before so she will try to have only a secret fling with Miles.

I enjoyed very much their story and how Miles becomes her muse for her romance book. And Skye's friends are just the best!

This was such a cute read.

Cozy old school castle, aspiring writer, hunky actor, and a secret fling.

The banter back and forth was cute. Skye, who writes mysteries normally, is struggling to write a new book, her dad takes a bid to let a movie film at their castle. In walks Miles, who happened to be her childhood crush.

Miles shows up early to get in character, ends up finding out he gets a new co-star Ty, who he has baggage with, and develops a crush on Skye.

Watching their secret relationship play out, that perhaps more than a fling could happen was adorable. Does Skye get over her fear of getting hurt? Does Miles find his passion again?

NC Barton writes characters that are relatable and you can't help but root for them.

Meet Me at the Loch is about a movie star actor/writer romance with a hint of secret dating. This is Skye and Miles' story, filled with grumpy sunshine and unexpected love. Skye is an inspiring writer with a little crush on the actor Miles. While Miles is staying at her father's castle, he learns a lot more about his love interest and Scotland. I love how they got to know each other and how they are interested in the legends of Loch. I love their chemistry and how they motivated each other. Their story is a cute meet-cute with unexpected moments that will show them their true feelings. I really enjoyed their story and love that they found their HEA.

I voluntarily leave an honest review of this gifted advance reader copy.

This was such a sweet, comforting romance in such an idyllic location. I love when the location complements the book and plot so well. At only 270 pages, I was able to read this sweet romance in just one day and honestly couldn’t put it down. The characters were relatable and complex, the writing was rich in detail and dialogue which I prefer. Skye and Miles’s relationship was believable with a perfect “Grumpy/Sunshine” sprinkled in. NC Barton style of writing is fast past and so bingeable! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for Scottish castles, “he falls first”, and secret flings… this is it!

The thing I love about this book is that the FMC is the grumpy one in the grumpy/sunshine dynamic.

Skye lives in a crumbly castle in Scotland with her father while she experiences writer's block for a book she's been working on for a while. Then comes Miles who's a film star and I love that he's the one who falls first. Can he crack her hard exterior? She's just a woman who's trying to protect herself after being burned, not to mention she'll have to be his "little secret" to protect his privacy.
But this works out right?

This was a really fun, quick read that I definitely recommend!
