Allan Clark is a mild-mannered accountant who just wants a girlfriend, a raise, and a quiet existence. But life becomes far more complicated after a strange comet passes much closer to the Earth than anyone expects. The resulting atmospheric contamination causes a small percentage of the planet, including Allan, to develop astonishing superpowers.
Suddenly forced to live with abilities he doesn’t want and can’t control, Allan finds himself resenting the constant demands of a society that expects him to do everything for them, while also treating him like a freak of nature. Allan tries to retreat from the limelight, but that doesn’t stop a fearsome new supervillain from appointing himself Allan’s arch-nemesis… regardless of whether Allan wants to play.
Inaction Figure is a monthly “prose comic book” serial from Joe Barlow, the director of the cult film The Wicked Witch Project, the author of 100 Nights in the Dark, and the former host of the Cinemaslave podcast. An affectionate spoof of superhero conventions, with tons of colorful (ahem) characters, Inaction Figure proves what the world has long suspected: great power doesn’t necessarily translate into great responsibility.
It's been a long time since I read a story that had me laughing out loud with a scene so believably funny that I could have seen myself doing the same thing. Joe has a certain wit and charm to his writing that I haven't seen in quite a while and has left me hungry and hankering for issue #2 even as I re-read the first issue yet again.
If you're into things like The Incredibles, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, or Guardians of the Galaxy I think you'll find this an enjoyable adventure filled with laughs, surprises and some good old fashioned fun. It's short but sweet and you'll be eager for the next issue just as I am!
The story of a cosmic happening causing certain people of earth to have special super powers and now finding a way to adapt to them.
The story introduces two characters one with so many abilities he finds himself doing more harm than good trying to harness his gifts, while the other character without any abilities would love to have at least one so he could do harm and become completely EVIL (insert evil laugh)
A great sense of humor and fast paced I will be looking forward to the next installment. Fun stuff you won't want to miss
