For fans of Lisa Kleypas and Sarah MacLean, Rachel Griffiths’s latest historical romance is a sexy, laugh-out-loud romp that’s The Bachelorette set in Regency England with shades of Bridgerton.
Lady Charlotte Louisa Aveton knows all of London’s rules, and better yet, knows how to break them. But when she takes it too far and stumbles into a serious scandal, she knows only one thing will save her—marriage, as soon as possible.
With only one summer to pick a husband, Charlotte invites all of England’s most eligible bachelors to an extravagant summer retreat at a country manor house. There’s a brooding artist, a wickedly handsome Russian prince, and one of the richest men in all of Europe...so why do her eyes keep sliding over to the Duke of Warrick, the only man who’s ever come close to breaking her heart?
Does Charlotte’s summer of suitors have any room for second chances?
Rachel Griffiths was most recently an editorial director at Scholastic, where she published more than twenty New York Times bestsellers. As you might guess from a book full of high-stakes horse races and romantic midnight rides, she spent much of her childhood in the saddle and knows from painful experience how it feels to take a fall at twenty-five miles per hour.
Here for everyone meddling and scheming for these two idiots to get together!!
A summer countryside romp for a scandal mired Lady and the rake dragged headlong into her marriage hunt mark the start of this unmissable historical romance. Rachel Griffiths’s Just for the Season is out to prove that all the best historical romances are second chance and include plenty of tension filled carriage rides and incessant quarrels. Two former correspondents, now mostly strangers, avoid the past at a house retreat where one of them is the coveted potential bride, and the other a reluctant grumbling duke refusing to admit he still cares. Returning with grace, wit, headstrong women, and a constantly frustrated man, Just for the Season sees Griffiths cement a signature style, one that impresses the importance of angst and the tried and true only one carriage trope. Charlotte and Wolfgang are perfectly suited, both in temperament and their tendency to avoid the proverbial elephant in the room: feelings (derogatory). But meddlesome family, highwaymen, and of all things embroidery soon make them impossible to ignore. Just for the Season had me earnestly hanging onto every interaction and failed suitor hoping these two would dig up their shared past and confess to wanting every season after. Griffiths’s second novel is a real triumph, not just a love letter to the best trope around, but to creative pursuits and the driven, passionate women willing to succeed by any means necessary.
thank you to the author for providing me with an advance copy. full review to come
I’ve long anticipated Charlotte and Wolfgang’s story, especially after the nuggets we were dropped about the two in The Trouble with Anna. Their chemistry is electric from the first moment they’re together, and despite the fact that they love to argue, they also can’t help their ever-present attraction. One of Rachel’s strengths as a writer is in thrusting the reader into the story, so I’m ten chapters in before I look up for breath. Her fast-paced and witty dialogue immediately immerses you into the story, and I could not put it down. She must have seriously put crack in these pages!
The special kind of torture our boy Wofgang goes through with his best friend out of town, when he’s forced to field Charlotte’s many requests for a suitor. It makes him grumbly in the best kind of way, and prickles his jealousy (like it needed to be pricked)! Add in his grief and layered feelings about his brother’s death and his subsequent title. He feels like a fully fleshed-out character in a way that complements Charlotte so well. She’s a force, and needs an equal force to match her strength (and compassion).
An absolute romp of a time, I fell so hard for Charlotte and Wolfgang!! This one really blends the comedy and romance perfectly, with such witty dialogue and situations that kept me giggling. The side characters are all a delight, and I hope we see more of the Marby family. Grams is always and forever a main character in my heart, and I’m so glad we got to see Charlotte and her bond in this one. While this could have just been the Charlotte show, and I would have been happy, Wolfgang was such a swoony hero with a heart of gold. His own grief and struggle to fill the role of his elder brother were both heartbreaking and brought such depth to this hot slab of muscle. The way he sees the true Charlotte, and wants to cherish her while watching her thrive, is exactly what I’m looking for in my heroes. His unwavering support and love for her were always present, even when the two were arguing.
This one absolutely lived up to the hype in my mind, and I could live in Rachel’s fun-fueled world forever! While The Trouble with Anna was an outstanding debut, this second novel packs a powerful punch and further cements this author in the genre. I can’t wait to see what else she brings us!
5/5 Thank you to the author for an ARC of this book!
Second chance, epistolary elements, war hero Duke, she’s armed with fashion, business owner FMC, bachelorette vibes, summer house party, brother's best friend, stern meets brat dynamics, she loves to drive him crazy
This was a wonderfully angsty and romantic time!!! Who doesn't love a SOAKING WET Regency man in a billowy white shirt🤭🤭???? We get love letters and the only one-carriage trope with a sleepy chaperone, hehehe, along with an interfering grandmother eagerly wishing for them to realize their feelings!! The heroine, Charlotte, is a determined woman, and she aspires to run her own business and embrace life completely! I LOVEDDDD how she wouldn't allow men to behave disgustingly or misogynistically in her presence, even to the extent of threatening violence, LMAOOO! The hero, Wolfgang, admired everything about our heroine and wanted to give her the world!!! This is a second chance romance, so after he overhears something that Charlotte says, he believes she doesn't want him anymore. He decides to stop corresponding with her, but this man wants her desperately!!! He remembers every little detail about her, and when suitors vie for her attention, he becomes sick with jealousy, and it had me SQUEALING!!!! He truly could not even be in her proximity without losing his mind, and when he sees tears come from her eyes, he can't breathe without making sure she's okay. If you're interested in a story about a self-assured and intelligent woman who makes a duke long for her for THREE WHOLE YEARS, then please pick this up ; you will absolutely adore it!!
Releases July 7th, 2026 🫖🌸 Thank you to Rachel and Netgalley for the E-ARC!!!
Charlotte has a little bit of a scandal problem, and the queen herself has told her to be engaged by the end of summer. We remember Charlotte, she stole every scene she was in of The Trouble with Anna with her madcap energy and love of scrapes. Well, turns out that was major "I was grinning like I'm winning, I was hitting my marks, 'cause I can do it with a broken heart" energy, because Warrick? The same guy who kept asking about Charlotte in a super casual way in that book? They had "a summer full of letters, both of them writing back and forth until-" something went terribly wrong. Now Warrick has been tasked by Charlotte's brother Julian with keeping an eye on her for the summer while he travels, including the house party where various suitors are making their case.
We love an overheard misunderstanding and just the knowledge that there will be a clearing of the air. Somehow the reveal is perfectly paced, the reader goes from wanting to know what happened to wanting the characters to know, to wanting a perfect solution, while Griffiths reminds us that fears and insecurities of years don't magically disappear with a reveal, even one as emotionally satisfying as the one she gives us. The best second chance gives us the grief of time lost, and she does it here, even with characters impatient to start a future together. So perfectly done. Impeccably crafted and executed.
Of course there are plenty of richly developed side characters, (my kindle note: "future heroine alert!"). The parade of suitors and friends throughout the summer bring humor and variety to the story, and keep our mains on track. At one point a pining Charlotte insists she is celebrating some good news and gets lightly roasted, "Celebrating with a good stare out the window?" Griffiths uses a light touch, but there are plenty of examples of a patriarchal system where women are powerless in face of the actions of men. Lucky we have grandmother Lady Alice to teach us the ropes, "Girls, pay attention - jewelry is independence tucked into a box."
Griffiths writes with an obvious deep understanding of the genre and a confidence and surety that makes it difficult to believe this is only her sophomore effort. Her books are perfectly crafted, balancing a reader's impatience with a deeply satisfying unspooling of plot and themes. Her prose is gorgeous - Warrick acts "As if he were wrestling with feelings so big only a cathedral could contain them." The humor and emotional resonance we've come to expect from this author are in full display here.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for the arc.
“When it came to war, he was ready. When it came to Charlotte, however, he was a bloody mess.”
Just for the Season might have become my new favorite Historical Romance. After reading Anna’s story —and finding myself a LOT in her— I was eager to read Charlotte’s, and it didn’t disappoint at all. The book’s main strength is in its characters Charlotte, as much as Wolfgang, are characters after my own heart. She’s sparkling, strong-minded, feminine, quite intrepid, ambitious, very intelligent. He’s besotted and (almost) doesn’t hide it, except from himself. I adored the pragmatic decision she takes, like crossing out suitors’ names from her grandma’s list, without ever forgetting about her own goals. She’s loyal to her mother, takes responsibilities, but doesn’t give up on her dreams —for herself, or when it comes to building a community— or even on her femininity (which is quite rare when it comes to ambitious women in books). As a result, she is anything but a caricature or a martyr, she’s an intelligent woman who uses her resources —and does it brilliantly. And Wolfgang, ohhh, Wolfgang! He also has a great character ARC, and faces grief and responsibilities, but, just like Charlotte, he never turns into the “brooding gentleman” caricature. The banter between the two of them is irresistible, there are a lot of very funny moments (it had been a long time since I’ve laughed as much while reading) but they’re never vulgar or at the expense of one of the characters. Charlotte’s pranks, especially how she uses her art to communicate messages, are hilarious. From all that emerges a hot and cute romance with a great alchemy, a second chance that will make you want to turn the pages. If you are looking for a Regency Romance that has accuracy but also a true historical tone and very modern concerns, with believable and multilayered characters, and a good steamy dose, then I cannot recommend this one enough.
Thank you to the author and Gallery Books for the access to the eARC on NetGalley. My opinions are my own.
Oh wow, Rachel Griffiths does it again! Just For the Season is a delightful historical romance featuring Charlotte and Wolfgang, Julian’s sister and his best friend. Julian and Anna are traveling overseas, so Wolfgang has been tasked with keeping an eye on Charlotte. Serious and forbidding, he and fun-loving Charlotte are complete opposites. They also had a brief, secret friendship years ago that ended in heartbreak for both of them.
The Queen and Charlotte’s grandmother decide that she needs to marry by the end of summer. Her grandmother hosts a house party at their country estate with amusing family friends and a group of eligible suitors. Wolfgang, the Duke of Warrick, is along for the ride to keep an eye on Charlotte. Charlotte’s grandmother is quietly plotting to match up Charlotte and Wolfgang, even as a rollicking group of young men show up at the estate to woo her.
The banter is fabulous between all of the characters, but especially between our hero and heroine. They obviously have deep feelings for each other, and the reader can sense it in their interactions and clear attraction for each other. Griffiths builds the tension through each chapter, and we are cheering for Charlotte to reject each of the other suitors, and for Charlotte and Wolfgang to finally be honest with each other and be together!
I was fully entertained by this book and the charming world Griffiths creates. Despite their miscommunication, the author weaves many threads tying Charlotte and Wolfgang together throughout the book. I love reading a good historical romance series, and it was fun to see Julian and Anna make a brief appearance. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
Thank you to Rachel Griffiths and Gallery Books for an advance reader’s copy of this book in print and ebook form in exchange for an honest review. Thank you also for the beautiful wrapping and swag that was included with my print ARC. All opinions are my own.
The classic 'ruined lady' who requires a marriage of convenience meets a Bachelorette-style summer house party of suitors in Just for the Season, truly a gem among regency romances.
When a misunderstanding leaves Charlotte and Wolfgang reeling from their previous months of flirty correspondence, neither are quite the same again. When they're thrust together in an attempt to marry Charlotte off (to please the Queen, save Charlotte from ruin, *and* pay off her mother's gambling debt), both have to face the fact that they never truly got over each other. This realization, of course, is set against the gorgeous English countryside, absolutely lavish descriptions of clothing and jewelry, a ridiculously cute sheepdog, and a house full of truly wonderful side characters. (Speaking of, I love how Charlotte's grandmother is a dowager by title when she's an absolute queen in spirit -- such fabulous meddling!)
Charlotte is an absolute force to be reckoned with; a lovable, sharp, intelligent feminist with a huge heart for those she loves and a passion for her own blossoming career. She leaps off the page as an authentic character when she so easily could have been written flat and one-dimensional. Wolfgang is a complicated war hero, struggling with both an accidental rise to dukedom and the nagging flame he still holds for Charlotte. Their banter is just as electric as their chemistry.
All in all, this was a delightful, sexy, and thoroughly enjoyable read. I also have to say that the cover art was what initially drew me in, so shoutout to the artist for such a bright, beautiful cover! Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Book Report: Just For the Season by Rachel Griffiths
Lady Charlotte Louisa Aveton knows the rules of London society… and exactly how to break them. After one scandal too many…she realizes the only way to save her reputation is to marry and fast. With just one summer to secure a husband…Charlotte invites a collection of England’s most eligible bachelors to a lavish country retreat. There’s a brooding artist…a swoony Russian prince and one of the richest men in Europe… but somehow her attention keeps drifting back to the Duke of Warrick the one man who once came dangerously close to breaking her heart💌🌿
I was giddy when Rachel Griffiths ARC for this one showed up on my doorstep (with the cutest goodies!) This is her sophomore novel and eeeeek….it’s Charlotte’s story! I adored her in The Trouble with Anna so getting a whole book centered around her felt like such a treat. Watching her navigate a summer…
💃🏼full of suitors 💖lingering feelings 😂and a little chaos made for such a fun ride.
The writing made the era feel so lush and scenic from the grandeur of the countryside retreat to the sparkling drama of society life. It was easy to get swept right into Charlotte’s world. I loved spending more time with these characters and I’m honestly hoping this world continues because I would happily revisit them again and again✨📚
Griffiths’ debut was one of my favorite new historical romance releases of last year and I’m thrilled to read her sequel early. Charlotte was a bright presence in the debut and now we get to see her story with not one but 5 possible suitors over the course of this book.
To start off, it’s quite obvious who her primary suitor is which is nice because there is a strong chemistry and depth of feeling between them, and we get some backstory on their friendship and what makes this a bit of a second chance romance as well. Tons of steam that at times maybe felt a bit gratuitous at the expense of emotional buildup but was still intriguing to read. The underlying plots of Charlotte’s ruin and silk mill and mother’s debts seemed a bit disjointed at times - I could have done without the multitude of subplots for a more focused and traditional house party scenario. That being said the book is very funny and full of heart and a solid follow up to Anna’s story.
There’s some hints of a sequel brewing with the introduction of the Marby sisters especially Elizabeth and Helena who have their own financial and emotional baggage. I’m excited to see where this goes!
[Thank you Gallery Books for the gifted ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.]
Think ‘The Bachelor’ if it was set in Regency England.
The Queen has ordered Charlotte be married by the end of the season, which she’s not overly thrilled about it, she’s willing to do it to help settle her mother’s debts. The only problem is the each suitor the Ton has to offer are somehow worse than the last.
So it’s pretty obvious that she’s going to end up with Wolfgang, the Duke of Warwick. Theirs is a ‘right person, wrong time’ situation. They have an undeniable chemistry with lots of tension but they’re both wary of each other after a miscommunication years ago.
It also doesn’t hurt that Charlotte is surrounded by many meddlesome, headstrong women who find ways to get her and Wolfgang together.
When it comes to historical romances, I LOVE smart ladies who sort of fight against society’s views on how women should behave so of course I was going to love Lady Charlotte. She’s so focused on fashion and her silk mill, but she also likes to use embroidery for pranks. She just refuses to compromise who she is.
This book is the perfect blend of comedy (I laughed so many times) and romance and I would not be opposed to a spin off featuring the Marby sisters!
If you’re looking for a cute, fun Regency romcom, definitely pick up Just for the Season!
Charlotte gets involved in one too many scandals (the final straw wasn’t her fault—so unfair) and the QUEEN says she better find a husband. She’d really rather not, but starts going through the pretense and thinks maybe she can find someone tolerable. She will NOT lose her heart and she will NOT let Wolfgang, the Duke of Warrick, get close or break her heart again. She doesn’t know it, but Wolfgang felt the sting of her words way back when, and has also been heartbroken ever since. And the old miscommunication festers.
It’s so obvious—these two are perfect together! Will the ever see it? Doubtful. Good thing they have meddlesome friends and family…
I had such a good time with this one! There was chemistry and tension, fondness, people who can’t admit they care about each other, loveable side characters, silliness, creativity. I did get frustrated when the miscommunication kept going and going and going, and Charlotte got a little too ridiculous about feelings-avoidance and Wolfgang a little too perfect at times. But still, I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it!
Just for the Season is a spirited historical romance following Charlotte and Wolfgang, the Duke of Warrick. Charlotte gets herself into some trouble and finds herself hosting a summer long house party to find a husband. Wolfgang is Charlotte's brother's closest friend and agreed to look after her while her brother is out of town. Charlotte and the Duke of Warrick have a past and it seems it is hard for either of them to remember their wits when they are around one another.
I adored this book! Charlotte is such a free spirit, but in a very intelligent and driven way. Her mischievousness is understated at times and so fun to read! Wolfgang is grieving the death of his brother and underneath his hard exterior of a soldier is a man so tender hearted for Charlotte. I loved both of them and the supporting cast just adds to the delight in reading this book! The banter is top notch and this is such an enjoyable read!
I highly recommend this book! Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bachelorette meets Bridgerton? I loved this pitch and it absolutely delivered! Charlotte our fmc was just so easily likable. The whole story had a perfect balance between humor and romance. While it was clear early on who the main love interest would be, the challenge of competing for Charlotte’s hand before the end of summer was such a delight. Watching her get to know her various suitors while Wolfgang, our MMC, simmered with jealousy was endlessly entertaining. The yearning and quiet desperation was chef’s kiss.
I liked how thoughtfully the author handled natural conversations between the characters, touching on the social constraints of the time; Men not being able to show emotions or it’ll deem them weak and women not being able to have has much power as they would like in many aspects and being dependent on a man. It added a very meaningful depth to the book.
Wolfgang was such a consent king which only made him more swoon worthy. I loved all of the Marby family too, if every sister got their own book, I’d be ecstatic.
All in all definitely a regency book that needs to be on your radar this summer!
Thank you Netgalley and GalleryBooks for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
After a slight scandal, Charlotte is ordered by the Queen to be married by the end of summer. But after inviting England's most eligible suitors to her family's country side home for the summer and a meddling grandmother, Charlotte soon realizes that she still has feelings for her brothers best friend, Wolfgang Lathum, The Duke of Warrick. But will she be able to forgive him for previously breaking her heart and avoid further scandal in the process?
Tropes: 💙Second Chance 💙Brother's Best Friend 💙He Falls First 💙Friends to Lovers 💙Meddling Grandmother 💙Strong Minded FMC 💙Only One Carriage
Just for the Season by Rachel Griffiths was a super cute Regency themed romance with major Bridgerton vibes. I couldn't help but root for Charlotte and Wolfgang to get their HEA. And who doesn't love a meddling/matchmaking grandmother? Just for the Season was a fun, light hearted read and the witty banter had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I am so glad I had a chance to read it. This is a story about The Duke of Warrick – Wolfgang and Lady Charlotte. Lady Charlotte must get married soon, so her grandmother and her decide to have a summer house party and invite a few bachelors to see if Charlotte and the bachelors click. The problem is her brother is away, so he asks his friend Wolfgang to watch over Charlotte, so he goes to the house party. Charlotte and Wolfgang had met before and thought they had got along with each other, but then something happened and he ghosted her (I will not tell you what it is). Now while Charlotte is looking at other men to see who she can marry she can not get Wolfgang out of her mind. I enjoyed both Wolfgang and Charlotte, but I really loved Charlotte’s grandmother. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am leaving my honest opinion.
Just For The Season is such a sizzling, sweet, steamy, and super fun romance. Charlotte, the FMC, is so brazen, brave, and ambitious. I adore her and wish I was more like her! Wolfgang, the MMC, is the embodiment of yearning. The way he is constantly torn between doing the responsible thing and giving in to the feelings he has for Charlotte is pure gold! And the things that leave his mouth either turn me into a puddle or leave me hot and bothered. Wolfgang and Charlotte's bickering is so entertaining! Their scenes are filled with extraordinary wanting and tension. While reading, I couldn’t wait for them to be together, but at the same time I didn’t want their will they/won’t they dynamic to end, because it was soooo good! Seriously, The chemistry between these two is insane. It truly leaps off the page and it makes it impossible to stop reading! If you're looking for the perfect summer romance, Just For The Season is the perfect book for you!
This is a second chance, friends to lovers, brother's best friend story. They might have been a couple a few years earlier but it just wasn't the right time in the timeline of their lives. Charlotte's brother asks Wolfgang to watch over her as he's going to be away. This coincides with Charlotte throwing a house party for the summer in order to find a suitor. Charlotte also owns a silk mill, so there's interesting tidbits on how silk is made. Wolfgang is a war hero and he's a very good guy. Over the summer they try to just remain friends but fail spectacularly! These two are very hot together and I was glad they both finally saw what was right before their eyes. Thank you to Rachel Griffiths for the copy of this book. Opinions are my own.

I have been in a serious book rut this spring and this book was the first in months that I couldn't put down. Which was funny because I swore I liked her first book but when I looked back, I hadn't been able to finish it. Anyway this was a classic historical romance akin to Bridgerton - Charlotte gets caught in a scandal and the Queen decrees she must be married by the fall, and so she and her family leave for their summer house and host a selection of horrible suitors. Meanwhile her brother's best friend - who years ago had a brief flirtation through letters that fell apart - is chaperoning and looking, of course, to be the only readonable suitor. Funny and charming, a great read for the summer.
Before I'd even finished reading Just For the Season, I was off ordering Rachel Griffiths' previous book--I think that should tell you everything. Griffiths' writing is bright, fizzy, and full of just excellent turns-of-phrases. Not saying that other romance writers don't have excellent writing, but Griffiths' knack for swoony but realistic characters, lush description, and sly, unexpected similies made this former English teacher's heart very happy. I burned through the book and would happily go back again.
I can only whole-heartedly recommend this to any romance reader; I think it'd convert even the most reluctant for historical romances.
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the opportunity to read and review this DRC. All opinions are mine alone.
4.5 stars rounded up. I was so thrilled to get the latest from Rachel Griffiths. Thanks to Gallery Books and NetGalley!
We met Charlotte and her brother Julian, their grandmother and mother…and Julian’s best friend, Wolfgan in her first book, The Trouble with Anna. And immediately upon finishing, I wanted Charlotte’s story. So happy to get it and it was everything I hoped it would be!
It has some of my favorite things: Brother’s best friend Epistolary elements Woman in pants He hates all her suitors (because it should be HIM) Misunderstanding in the past House Party Woman entrepreneur Two dummies who love each other
This was such a great regency romance! Charlotte and Wolfgang were both dynamic characters whose chemistry sizzled from the very first page. The parade of suitors and the subsequent jealousy they invoked was so delicious!
Read this before reading "Trouble with Anna" and definitely was enough of a standalone to do so, but enjoyed this so much I will definitely be going back to read that.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I have to say I do enjoy when authors give historical romance female characters strength, choice, and sass, which is so different from what the readers experienced even 10 years ago.
But with that aspect, you also have to be able to break that image from what you experienced in the past and embrace the new.
This author has written a steamy romp that includes a second-chance romance. These two characters caught feelings before, but due to circumstances, nothing ever came of it.
Now, with an urgent need to access money, marriage is required for Charlotte, but no one is good enough for her or Wolfgang.
Griffiths has once again created a fun and wacky story, which includes a summer in the country along with plenty of suitors. But no one seems to measure up.
With plenty of additional characters to bring in the wit, including that sneaky grandma, we experience humor and plenty of situations that are a delight to read.
Both characters are unique and blend beautifully. Both are also hardheaded, which brings some unique qualities, not to mention the fact that they need to learn to communicate.
Overall, Just for the Season is the type of historical romance we love to read. Strong, smart women who know what they want paired with strong, caring, sexy men who can handle their personalities.
~~~ * I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. * Full review - https://amidlifewife.com/just-for-the...
I loved this! Rachel Griffiths has such a delightful turn of phrase and I was entertained throughout.
There's alot going on in Just for the Season, Wolfgang's grief over the death of his brother, Charlotte's fraught relationship with her mother, a silk mill and more. There were alot of threads to pull together but I think it was generally successful.
The characters of Wolfgang and Charlotte were great and the banter and snark were lots of fun.
I received an advance copy of this book at no charge. This is my honest and voluntary review.
A wonderfully memorable romance filled with wit and laugh out loud humor. I found all of the characters delightful and hope to see a few get stories of their own. I wouldn't really compare it to the Bachelorette per se, but on its own it is a solid story with a strong heroine and a stubborn but emotional hero (which you can't help but love).
Bridgerton with a playful slow burn and a strong FMC pushing against the double standards of society as she digs her way out of a "scandal" and acquired debt. The women in this book are power houses and I loved it!
I give it a 2.5 rounded up. I’m not a fan of third person but my biggest issue there are so many names and characters. I wish there was a chapter guide or family tree in the beginning of the book to refer to while reading. Some of the characters had multiple names they were referred to as throughout the book, that would have been helpful in a reference sheet as well. #GoodreadsGiveaway
If you love Rachel Griffiths’ debut The Trouble with Anna (and I do!) or any historical romance then you’ll love love Just for the Season (and i do do!!). Charlotte knows how to carpe duke— she is so fun and fearless and starts the best kind of chaos!
The chaos of a house party always adds to the fun, frustration, and spice of a tale. The variety and odd personalities of the visiting wooers leaves these poor women with few options.
Reminds me of another house party romance, but of course I can't recall or find the title. Alas.
