“Webster the Spider Monkey: Spectacular Amazement is a wildly imaginative, energetic, and joyfully nostalgic graphic adventure that captures everything readers love about classic superhero comics while adding Art Baltazar’s unmistakable humor, heart, and creativity. From radioactive bugs and mutated lab animals to outrageous villains and nonstop action, the story embraces comic-book absurdity in the best possible way, delivering an experience that feels both fresh and delightfully old-school.”

“What stood out most was the sheer personality bursting from every page. Webster himself is an instantly lovable hero funny, determined, chaotic, and full of heart as he struggles with the responsibility of protecting former friends transformed into monstrous enemies. The supporting cast and villains are equally inventive, with names like Doctor Octoplatypus and The Shizzlerd perfectly capturing the playful, over-the-top energy of the book. Baltazar’s art style gives the story constant movement and charm, balancing action, comedy, and emotional beats effortlessly. Beneath all the silliness and superhero spectacle is a story about friendship, responsibility, and perseverance that makes the adventure surprisingly heartfelt. Fast-paced, hilarious, and endlessly creative, Webster the Spider Monkey feels like a love letter to comics, Saturday morning cartoons, and pure imagination.”

This is an adorably goofy graphic novel.

Art Baltazar is an award-winning cartoonist with an extensive and near-prolific amount of published work. In Webster the Spider Monkey: Spectacular Amazement, he writes a delightful solo adventure as well as sharing the secret origin of Webster the Spider Monkey.

Baltazar throws in a wealth of less-than-subtle references to super hero canon. This is a fun introduction to the world of comic book heroes for the younger reader.

My seven-year-old loved reading Webster’s adventures. She giggled a lot and read this with me in one sitting, one of the highest compliments she can pay to any book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Papercutz for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.

Oh man what a ride. The moment I saw Art Baltazar's book on NG, I have to get it and devour. And I wasnt disappointed! The graphic novel brings in the humor and silliness with a little poke with the superhero genre specially on Spider-Man. The art is amazing hands down and it brings more zest on the already engaging story. What I do wish it would be more playfully annoying and more parodies on the superhero genre. This book is more in the line of Dog-Man. Nevertheless, it's an enjoyable, fun read for me.

Most Art Balthazar books are exactly alike. But that’s what makes kids keep coming back to them. In this book we are introduced to Webster, the spider monkey. How he was changed into a super monkey after a lab explosion, and how his lab mate also changed, but they became villains instead. This is a bright and colorful tongue-in-cheek comedy that kids will love.

Arc Copy...What one expects from Art Baltazar...his signature colourful-stylized art style, whacky humor involving animals and super hero antics and doses of action to go with the wild super hero antics too!
