#DRCL midnight children #6
#DRCL midnight children, Vol. 6
In this beautiful, evocative, and often surreal retelling of Dracula, a fearsome enemy comes from the east, bringing with it horrors the likes of which have never been seen in the British Empire. Standing opposed are Wilhelmina “Mina” Murray and her stalwart companions, united in a cabal that eclipses gender, nationality, and station until the day that they can achieve victory.

So the plot continues in volume 6! As do my questions....
The artwork is, as always, beautiful, but I struggle with determining what is really happening versus what happens in dreams (for lack of a better word). Luke/Lucy appears again in one form or another, but will we ever see Jonathan again? Van Helsing? I think Luke/Lucy might be the author's favorite character, but I like Mina. She is a strong, independant girl (not yet a woman) who won't let the male-centered society hold her down. In addition to this last thought, these main characters are children. That means there is ONCE AGAIN SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD! Not okay, even if the child fights them off.

𝘐𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘰 𝘭𝘰 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘰 𝘥𝘪 𝘶𝘯𝘢 𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘢 𝘤𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘪 𝘩𝘢𝘪 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘻𝘢.

To my utter astonishment this one really hooked me again, after the last one felt like a real dud. Less uncomfortable, props for the scene that likens the upper class to vampires. It’s confusing how hit and miss this has become, but alas
CNs for death, blood, physical violence, gun violence, body horror, allusions to rape, bodily possession, sexism, a lil wishy washy on the details character that experiences two genders through “two different personalities in the one body” that I have ambivalent feelings about

Still confused, but think I need to just read them one after the other to have everything freshly in mind. Very fun and interesting development in this one though! Loving where it's going~ Go get them Minaaaaa!

Oh mon dieu !

Another gorgeous volume in this transcendent series. I can't wait for volume 7 and the to re-read it all from the beginning!
Sakamoto's interpretation of Mina and Lucy might be my favorite of all the adaptations of Dracula.

This one was pretty wild to say the least. Mina stepping up to take the Counts power is pretty bold. And she kind of looks low key hot doing it lol. The art is still pretty epic and you could look at it for a long time the details are so rich.

Do I need to reiterate how beautiful this manga is?
